Facilitates efficient secret management and improves development processes
Regarding the exceptions in GitGuardian Platform, we know that within the platform we have a way to accept a path or a directory from a repository, but it is not that visible at the very beginning. You have to figure out where to search for it, and once you have it, it is really good, but it is not that visible at the beginning. This should be made more exposed. The documentation could be better because it was not that comprehensively documented. When we started working with GitGuardian Platform, it was difficult to find some specific use cases, and we were not aware of that. It might have improved now, but at that time, it was not something we would recommend.

Has improved sensitive data detection while requiring better support for data-at-rest scanning and classification
Data in transit works quite well and operates in near real-time. However, data at rest scanning operates under separate licensing, and it would be beneficial to examine applications where the location of sensitive data is unknown. Netskope Data Loss Prevention (DLP) could improve data-at-rest scanning capabilities. Regarding DLP-specific improvements, data-at-rest scanning could be enhanced in terms of the applications supported, as coverage is currently limited to a restricted set of enterprise applications. Expanding application coverage would be beneficial. Additionally, data-at-rest scans should be made easier and faster to execute. Most solutions lack Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) functionality, and this capability is not yet mature. A significant limitation is that Netskope Data Loss Prevention (DLP) does not support out-of-the-box data classification. Third-party integrations must be relied upon instead, whereas having built-in data classification support would be advantageous.

Pros

"It has really helped us change our culture, and it's impressive to see that."
"GitGuardian has helped to increase our security team's productivity; now we don't need to call the developers all the time and ask what they are working on, and I feel the solution bridged the gap between our team and the developers, which is really great."
"GitGuardian Platform has helped save significant time for the security team by eliminating the need to seek out development teams and work with them on exposed secrets, as much of this is now handled proactively."
"One thing I really like about it is the fact that we can add search words or specific payloads inside the tool, and GitGuardian will look into GitHub and alert us if any of these words is found in a repository... With this capability in the tool, we have good surveillance over our potential blind spots."
"Transferring code from another platform to GitGuardian enabled us to see open passwords in old repositories and enabled us to clean them well and create a barrier against security leaks."
"GitGuardian Internal Monitoring has helped increase our secrets detection rate by several orders of magnitude."
"Before this solution, we didn't have anything for secret detection; we went from zero to having something, and thanks to the tool, we have decreased the risk, automated what we did manually, and definitely increased our security team productivity."
"I like that GitGuardian automatically notifies the developer who committed the change. The security team doesn't need to act as the intermediary and tell the developer there is an alert. The alert goes directly to the developer."
"Netskope Data Loss Prevention (DLP) provides predefined templates, indexed data matching, EDM, and OCR capabilities, and the role functionality provides significant information, and considerable automation has been built on top of the platform using the available APIs."
"The product provides visibility to manage sensitive data and control access."
"The product is flexible."
"I find Netskope Data Loss Prevention (DLP) easier and more appealing than Zscaler."
"The Real-Time Analytics and Reporting capabilities of Netskope Data Loss Prevention (DLP) are good and up to the mark."

Cons

"I'm excited about the possibility of Public Postman scanning being integrated with GitGuardian in the future. Additionally, I'm interested in exploring the potential use of honeytokens, which seems like a compelling approach to lure and identify attackers."
"One of our current challenges is that the GitGuardian platform identifies encrypted secrets and statements as sensitive information even though they're secured."
"We have been somewhat confused by the dashboard at times."
"It took us a while to get new patterns introduced into the pattern reporting process."
"It would be nice if they supported detecting PII or had some kind of data loss prevention feature."
"I would like to see improvement in some of the user interface features."
"We'd like to request a new GitGuardian feature that automates user onboarding and access control for code repositories."
"Right now, we are waiting for improvement in the RBAC support for GitGuardian."
"Technical support has been rated low. Numerous bugs have been discovered in terms of functionality, and the support team takes considerable time to resolve these issues."
"I have not seen any benefits from this real-time analysis at this time."
"Netskope Data Loss Prevention (DLP) can be improved primarily because we were looking for any other provider due to the ZTNA feature that we were scoping from Netskope."
"The product should be compatible with multiple file formats."
"I rate the pricing a seven out of ten. The pricing is moderate."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I compared the solution to a couple of other solutions, and I think it is very competitively priced."
"It's not cheap, but it's not crazy expensive either."
"We have seen a return on investment. The amount of time that we would have spent manually doing this definitely outpaces the cost of GitGuardian. It is saving us about $35,000 a year, so I would say the ROI is about $20,000 a year."
"It's a bit expensive, but it works well. You get what you pay for."
"The pricing and licensing are fair. It isn't very expensive and it's good value."
"With GitGuardian, we didn't need any middlemen."
"I am only aware of the base price. I do not know what happened with our purchasing team in discussions with GitGuardian. I was not privy to the overall contract, but in terms of the base MSRP price, I found it reasonable."
"You get what you pay for. It's one of the more expensive solutions, but it is very good, and the low false positive rate is a really appealing factor."
"The pricing is moderate."
