Users only need to install the VPN and authenticate with their email address
I primarily use remote VPN solutions to connect securely. We have configured both site-to-site VPN and remote VPN, and it is connected to FortiClient Implementing this solution has streamlined time management in our organization. Without SSO, we would need manual configuration for each PC, but…

A stable solution that is easy to set up and offers high download speeds
The problem with the solution is that most of the time, it uses a certain IP address that does not change much. If I'm using a different country, like Germany, it still uses the same IP address, and the downside is that this doesn't work well with services like Netflix because Netflix realizes that I'm using a VPN.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The first thing I really appreciate about Fortinet FortiClient is their preventive protection; even if a new virus is released, they have a preventive mechanism built into their client, which works along with the firewall, so it automatically gets stopped."
"The most valuable feature is that it's easy to deploy. Deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting are very easy."
"The solution is easy to configure and manage."
"The performance of FortiClient is impressive."
"The technical support from Fortinet and local vendors is good."
"FortiClient is a very reliable partner, as it has ticked all the checkboxes for our organization's requirements."
"It's simple, downloadable, and there's usually no problem."
"Fortinet FortiClient is not disruptive, and its interface is great. It has an in-built VPN, which is very useful."
"l like the high download speed of the solution. Of course, it depends on which country you're using, but most countries are fast, and the solution doesn't limit your internet speed very much."

Cons

"We do not use the solution every day and there are times when the new users have trouble reconnecting. The technology itself works but our users getting adopted to it is a major problem. Having the user adapt to the desktop landing page that it begins on is throwing them off a bit."
"The solution can improve by adding new remote console or endpoint features to make the solution easier to use."
"Its stability can be improved. It is not as reliable as I would like it to be. There are times when things don't work quite right. Our biggest pain point is not related to Fortinet FortiClient and the whole scheme of things. It is related to one of the additional services called FortiGuard. They are the arm that does all of the updates to definitions, keeps all the signatures updated, and responds to new threats and whatnot. What we have found is that they react quickly, but sometimes their solutions aren't compatible with all of the components of the Fortinet security suite, specifically around FortiSandbox."
"It would be nice to see more in hand features in terms of the DLP, so that the solution can be integrated with the DLP, as well as more reporting features on the end point."
"Fortinet FortiClient should improve its visibility of the consumption of traffic and end-user action, which is very low."
"I would like to see improvements in the dashboard for better reporting."
"The features of Fortinet FortiClient could be improved."
"The endpoint side of FortiClient needs improvement, specifically the agent-based endpoint, which requires enhancements in detection and additional features to reduce bugs."
"The problem with the solution is that most of the time, it uses a certain IP address that does not change much. If I'm using a different country, like Germany, it still uses the same IP address, and the downside is that this doesn't work well with services like Netflix because Netflix realizes that I'm using a VPN."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"FortiClient is costly."
"Fortinet FortiClient comes free with the purchase of the FortiGate solution. There is a license required for this solution. You later can upgrade from the free version which will allow more endpoints. The cost of the license subscription is based on how many endpoints you require."
"We are using the free version of this product."
"The price is okay and competitive."
"If we pay for the yearly package that includes the FortiGate firewall, then the FortiClient VPN license is included with it."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"I don't know it by heart, but it is comparable to other solutions. It is based on the number of clients. It is probably 50 Euros per year per client. It greatly depends on the number of clients you're handling because the more clients you are ordering it for, the cheaper it will be."
"Licensing was free up to ten users and after that, it was pretty reasonable."
"My licensing cost is about 80 euros a year, which I find very reasonable because I can use the solution on up to three devices and share it with other people."
