Simplifying log management by displaying detailed access information
The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is its ability to simplify and display logs clearly, providing details like which IPs are accessing the system, the destination, and the policies applied. This visualization and detail make managing logs more straightforward. In conjunction with our VMware setup, Fortinet FortiAnalyzer enhances organizational efficiency, meeting the standard log retention period for up to a year.
TO
It consolidates all logs into one place and provides required features and functionalities
Every once in a while, our IBM cloud operational implementation gets behind. Sometimes, when we have a customer event, we do not get access to the latest logs for about 30 minutes, particularly for the sites that are heavily utilized. This is clearly not good. It is impossible to do RCA when you can't look at the logs that pertain to the time period in which the event occurred. It could be more of an operational problem than a feature problem. I don't have visibility about whether it is a LogDNA issue or just an operational issue.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is quite easy to deploy."
"I would say that Fortinet's tech support is really good."
"The system provides valuable insights through information, graphics, and reports."
"We use this functionality every day, and obtain reports on things like how many people are using the VPN, which websites are being accessed, and whether hackers are trying to penetrate into our network."
"The features that our customers have found most valuable are their different type of reports including the drill down report, as well as the flexibility to connect to any number of appliances which can be connected to it centrally."
"Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is a complete package for managing our equipment."
"The IBS (Intent Based Segmentation) and application web filtering are the most valuable aspects of the solution."
"It supports SQL for logging and reporting. Log data is inserted into the SQL database for log view and report generation."
"The solution aggregates all event streams, so that if there are any issues, it's all in the same interface."
"LogDNA consolidates all logs into one place, which is super valuable."

Cons

"FortiAnalyzer's price could be lower."
"The solution does not function well with third-party tools"
"FortiAnalyzer only integrates with Fortinet solutions. That is a limitation because many organizations use multiple vendors. It's often a mixture of Cisco network hardware and equipment from other vendors, such as switches, access points, etc."
"We'd like to see more embedded features."
"It would be good if the product could provide data about the websites users visit."
"We are concerned about the compliance of our policy and institutional philosophy."
"They can include integration with devices, such as firewalls, endpoints, from other vendors. They can include graphic monitoring of everything in the network, not just Fortinet products. It would also be good to include customizable reports and customizable views of the reports."
"I'm looking for something more efficient to analyze different foreign things. That's why FortiSIEM could compete with FortiAnalyzer."

"No ability to encapsulate a query or a filter, and communicate or share that among the team."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The company's choice to utilize Fortinet FortiAnalyzer was based on the overall security strategy and compatibility with existing solutions. It was deemed the best fit as it provided a centralized point of visibility for all of their security solution, including Fortinet FortiGate firewall, FortiClient, Forti EMS, and FortiAP. The company conducted a thorough evaluation of various solutions in the market but found that none of them could fully integrate and manage all their solutions as effectively as Fortinet FortiAnalyzer."
"In other countries, the product may seem cheap, but in Vietnam, the costs are high."
"Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is very expensive."
"The solution is quite expensive"
"I rate Fortinet FortiAnalyzer's pricing as five out of ten."
"The price of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is expensive."
"The product’s price is much better than its competitors."
"It is expensive for small business customers. It is only available for customers with a high number of firewalls to manage or to report. If a customer has only five boxes of FortiGate, the price of FortiAnalyzer can be more than the five boxes. So, we can't easily put this solution for small business customers."
