Simplifying log management by displaying detailed access information
The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is its ability to simplify and display logs clearly, providing details like which IPs are accessing the system, the destination, and the policies applied. This visualization and detail make managing logs more straightforward. In conjunction with our VMware setup, Fortinet FortiAnalyzer enhances organizational efficiency, meeting the standard log retention period for up to a year.

It consolidates all logs into one place and provides required features and functionalities
Every once in a while, our IBM cloud operational implementation gets behind. Sometimes, when we have a customer event, we do not get access to the latest logs for about 30 minutes, particularly for the sites that are heavily utilized. This is clearly not good. It is impossible to do RCA when you can't look at the logs that pertain to the time period in which the event occurred. It could be more of an operational problem than a feature problem. I don't have visibility about whether it is a LogDNA issue or just an operational issue.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The predictive analytics of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is very valuable for clients because this solution has a complete architecture for cybersecurity."
"I like its simplicity. It is straightforward. We get reports and emails about the logs, and that's it."
"The interface is simple and easy to navigate."
"It is one of the best firewall products."
"It supports SQL for logging and reporting. Log data is inserted into the SQL database for log view and report generation."
"The installation process for Fortinet FortiAnalyzer was very smooth, taking around two to three hours to deploy."
"From my perspective, we need to see the traffic in a good way so we can know what has happened in our network. The analyzing tools and the monitoring tools and the logs are the important part in the network."
"The ability to gather all gateway information and logs in a single location is the most valuable feature."
"LogDNA consolidates all logs into one place, which is super valuable."
"The solution aggregates all event streams, so that if there are any issues, it's all in the same interface."

Cons

"Their in-house technical support is extremely slow to respond. We have our own in-house team to manage issues so clients don't have to wait over two weeks for a response to issues."
"Fortinet FortiAnalyzer could be improved by enabling features such as predictive analysis. We should implement AI features, correlation of different logs, and have predictive analysis, including alerts for policy violations."
"The reports are good, but they are over-summarized."
"The UI needs to be improved in future updates."
"The traffic monitoring could be better, and stability could be improved."
"One area for improvement could be better support for third-party products, as it doesn't have as much visibility with these compared to Fortinet's own products."
"The deployment is complex and has room for improvement."
"The solution should include the ability to customize reports so that customers receive greater value and high level reporting."
"Every once in a while, our IBM cloud operational implementation gets behind. Sometimes, when we have a customer event, we do not get access to the latest logs for about 30 minutes, particularly for the sites that are heavily utilized. This is clearly not good. "No ability to encapsulate a query or a filter, and communicate or share that among the team."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"When you compare with other firewall vendors, FortiAnalyzer is quite competitive in pricing."
"The cost of the license is high."
"The solution is quite expensive"
"I would rate the price of FortiAnalyzer as seven out of ten, with ten being the most expensive."
"Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is quite an expensive tool."
"FortiAnalyzer was in the product itself, but two years ago they split it from Fortinet. We paid the license two years ago."
"I won't say the solution is too costly since it is available at a fair price."
"I rate FortiAnalyzer six out of 10 for affordability. FortiAnalyzer pricing isn't steady. It changes each quarter or year. That's one of the main problems in West Abaco because most businesses here are small or medium-sized enterprises. It makes budgeting complicated. You always want to pay the same price on the subscription."
