Risk-based triage has transformed container security and now prioritizes high-impact threats
The best features Qualys TotalCloud offers currently include managing cloud infrastructure and container security while facing major challenges such as alert fatigue. Traditional vulnerability scanners flag hundreds of CVEs on short-lived Kubernetes containers, some of which have no internet exposure or are gone before we can even triage them. I leverage Qualys TotalCloud to move beyond static CVSS. I use it to implement runtime exposure, correlation risk reprioritization, and shift-left integration. This notifies developers to fix a base image upstream rather than patching live ephemeral instances. In my work with cloud and container security, the biggest operational hurdle was alert fatigue. I use Qualys to shift left from static CVSS severity to context-aware risk prioritization. I correlated raw vulnerability data with real-time risk factors such as public network exposure, active runtime execution, or overly permissive IAM roles. This allows us to immediately drop the priority of isolated containers and escalate lower-severity CVEs that sit on an exposed, high-risk path. We can map these findings directly back to our CI/CD pipelines so developers can patch the root base images upstream. We have drastically cut down the signal-to-noise ratio, saved a lot of manual hours doing triage work, and ensured engineering effort goes directly towards high-impact risk reduction.

It gives us a risk report that helps us refine our process management by highlighting where we might be exposed
Flow's distinctive capability to analyze both data at rest and data in motion grants us the ability not only to get full visibility and classification of the data within our managed databases but also to visualize the data flows both within and beyond our environment. This enables us to achieve a comprehensive understanding of all our sensitive data, even as it traverses through applications, shadow databases, and external services such as third-party entities and SaaS applications. What we aspire to achieve with Flow is extended visibility into the external services themselves, which will allow us to see the data they contain.

Improved our security posture thanks to comprehensive visibility
I have contacted Wiz technical support frequently. The support is excellent. We contact via an in-application portal. We can see the support cases we personally open, and also the cases that other people have opened from our company. I appreciate that feature. Generally, support gets back to us within a few days with a good answer. There was one fellow in particular who has been knocking it out of the park. He is a great support person to deal with. We are happy with the support experience. If I were to put Wiz support on a scale from one to ten, I would give them a ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Generally, Qualys is very good at detections, whether on cloud or on-prem, and the agent allows deployment on both infrastructures, providing continuous monitoring of your assets, which is a key selling point for us."
"I depend heavily on the reports that I have from this tool."
"Qualys TotalCloud fulfills all these needs."
"It is a cloud-native app that integrates with both IaaS and SaaS. It seamlessly integrates with other platforms."
"The best feature would be the ability to create policies. It is easy to control and update policies as required."
"Qualys TotalCloud helps you not just to identify misconfigurations, but you can actually also fix issues."
"I rate the breadth of FlexScan in providing visibility into on-premises, multicloud, and container environments as fantastic."
"The platform's unified view of the organization proves particularly valuable for leadership team meetings."
"Before implementing Flow Security, we had no mechanism to alert us when third-party contractors were accessing sensitive data or moving it to locations with lower security. Now we know precisely where the data is stored and can assess the risk when someone wants to develop something. Flow Security lowers our risk of a data breach."
"Wiz is one of the finest tools that I have used so far, and it gives visibility to all the services based resources, which other tools do not give."
"Approximately 30 to 40% of vulnerabilities are being remediated quicker and easily because Wiz Code has an auto-fixing PR feature available for IAC code, which helps us fix issues quickly."
"Before Wiz Code, the security team manually correlated the cloud assets, vulnerabilities, IAM permissions, and internet exposure, with critical issues identified in five days, but now, with the security graph automatically correlating findings, critical issues are identified in 30 minutes, resulting in a 90 percent plus reduction in investigation effort."
"Wiz gives a very good insight into how secure your software and code are and is quite good at consolidating the scanning results."
"I like Wiz's reporting, and it's easy to do queries. For example, it's pretty simple to find out how many servers we have and the applications installed on each. I like Wiz's security graph because you can use it to see the whole organization even if you have multiple accounts."
"The product's most valuable feature combines different contexts and attributes to produce highly confident alerts."
"With Wiz, we get timely alerts for leaked data or any vulnerabilities already existing in our environment."
"The UI is what I appreciate most about Wiz; the interface is really easy and not clunky."

Cons

"Regarding improvements to Qualys TotalCloud, I suggest that user navigation can be enhanced because initially, many users found it complicated and had trouble understanding the platform due to information being spread across multiple tabs."
"Qualys TotalCloud's increasing complexity, due to the development and deployment of multiple solutions, is making the GUI difficult to navigate."
"The cloud licensing unit system is unclear, especially since "units" aren't well-defined."
"With the growing integration of AI, I would like Qualys to enhance its service offerings to better accommodate AI-related risks."
"The vulnerability part is good, but the policy compliance module needs improvement because it involves a lot of manual work. Specifically, the remediation part of the controls requires enhancements."
"There is a lack of data segregation according to criticality or inventory."
"It has been working very well, but it would be helpful if the dashboard could generate reports tailored to specific compliance needs. For example, in India, we have to comply with RBI and SEBI guidelines. It w"
"The support process is inefficient due to the excessive number of replies required when submitting tickets."
"It provides a good overview of our infrastructure, but I need more end-to-end visibility, and SaaS is one of the gaps."
"From a technical perspective, Wiz is excellent, but the pricing is too expensive."
"One significant issue is that the searches are case-sensitive, so finding a misconfigured resource can become very challenging."
"Once you get a threat and fix it, to see that fix reflected in Wiz, you have to wait 24 hours. That is something I am not happy with."
"More or less, Wiz is doing well, but the false alerts at random times would be another area for improvement."
"We are still analyzing its behavior as we are in the midst of the implementation."
"In Brazil, the cost is a significant issue due to the currency exchange rate."
"The APIs are currently quite limited and not very mature, which makes integration with Splunk difficult."
"Wiz's reporting capabilities could be refined a bit. They are making headway on that, but more executive-style dashboards would be nice. They just implemented a community aspect where you can share documents and feedback. This was something users had been requesting for a while. They are listening to customer feedback and making changes."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Qualys TotalCloud offers competitive pricing given its comprehensive suite of features, including integration, assessment, remediation, and detection capabilities, all within a single platform."
"Qualys TotalCloud is cost-efficient and was selected for its value compared to other products."
"While Qualys TotalCloud's pricing is currently acceptable, it is becoming increasingly expensive and may soon be considered overpriced."
"The pricing is comparable. It is built into our other product, so I cannot piecemeal it. It is a part of our subscription."
"Qualys TotalCloud is expensive."
"TotalCloud's price is about right where I would expect it to be."
"Qualys TotalCloud offers cost-effective licensing flexibility."
"Its price seems higher compared to other tools, but it is worth it. If they could adjust the pricing and make it comparable with other tools, that would be great."

"The pricing is fair and comparable to their competitors. The cost seems to be going up, which is a concern. There are potential savings from consolidating tools, but we're uncertain how Wiz's pricing will change over time."
"Based on the features and capabilities, the product pricing seems reasonable."
"The pricing is fair. Some of the more advanced features and functionalities and how the tiers are split can be somewhat confusing."
"The cost of the other solutions is comparable to Wiz."
"The pricing seems pretty simple. We don't have to do a lot of calculations to figure out what the components are. They do it by enabling specific features, either basics or advanced, which makes it easy to select."
"Wiz is a moderately priced solution, where it is neither cheap nor costly."
"I wish the pricing was more transparent."
"Regarding pricing, it’s more than $100k because we have a very big infrastructure. Our environment supports around three thousand people, and we offer business-to-client financial services to around one million clients, so we rely heavily on Wiz."
