Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The fault management is perfect.""The most valuable features of DX Spectrum are the comprehensive alerts.""The quick notification of issues, quick alerting because timeliness is always valuable, it's very important for us.""It is easy to navigate.""It is easy to understand and determine when and/or where the network is failing.""The main thing is obviously notifications about alerts, getting ahead of the curve to make sure that we do not have system going down, or if it is down we get to know it earlier.""I have found the cross analysis feature to be the most valuable.""The stability of the product is key. It never breaks, really. The stability and reliability of the Spectrum product have been top-notch."

"It allows us to digest the information, the data, the different data streams, so we can make decisions based upon information that we receive, and it is pretty robust.""It helps streamline troubleshooting and log analysis.""Exporting is a good feature. It helps me out when I have to do reports. I do a lot of exporting and crunching of the numbers. Dashboards are okay for showing to the leadership, but for doing statistics and updating tickets, the export feature is very beneficial for me.""The most valuable feature is the log aggregation, being able to scan through all of the logs.""The ability to ingest different log types from many different products in our environment is most valuable.""The additional vendors we've brought on board, particularly the elastic, have been quite beneficial.""The most valuable feature is the DSS, also known as SPL, because it allows users to script advanced queries with limited knowledge.""To get visibility from your network devices, servers, and security devices is a great feature."

Cons
"The Spectrum OneClick is a Java-based client, and that's aging. Really, before any new feature integration, I'd love to see a comprehensive rebuild of the UI.""If they could interact with the MIBs of vendors better, and have a lot more pre-loaded ones, that would be amazing for us right now.""We have a lot of different monitoring tools in the background, so orchestration has been a little bit of a challenge.""A better integration with the UIM, as far as being able to do root cause analysis and that type of analytics.""For us, the implementation was quite complex but it's because of the large number of different environments we're dealing with.""We have had one support issue that's been open for a couple of months, and it is currently open.""DX Spectrum is stable. However, now and then there are some issues, but overall it is good.""From a functionality perspective, the product is not doing what it should. Also, there are some concerns about the accessibility. I would appreciate additional out-of-the-box troubleshooting scripts, like templates for addressing various issues. Currently, when troubleshooting online, I need to create my scripts. It would be beneficial if the platform could provide pre-built scripts or templates to help automate certain troubleshooting tasks."

More DX Spectrum Cons →

"The product must improve insider threat detection.""Previously, they developed custom connectors or add-ons for a lot of applications. But that number can be upgraded still. There are a lot of applications in the world that are not supported.""You do need a lot of training and certification with this product.""Over time I will have more requirements and I can foresee the solution could improve the search algorithm to run and output the data faster.""It does not give us permission to implement on-premise so we implement them on the cloud.""Missing capability for audio/video and image processing.""The difficult part is related to integration with sources of data that are used to create the logs as this depends on the infrastructure of the client.""We had an instance when Splunk failed and it took us a couple of days to recover."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is very pricey. With the current trend of enterprises moving towards cheaper and more modern looking solutions like ManageEngine, SevOne, ServicePilot, and Paesller."
  • "It’s a great tool, but an expensive one. Learn how to use it properly."
  • "The cost of some of these products are a little cost prohibitive, which is unfortunate. We have to find lower cost solutions for some of the things that we have to pull in. For the most part, CA has capabilities in pretty much everything that you would need. You just have to figure out where are you going to spend the most money for what you have to actually get done. You can do all these things but, which ones do you have to do? And that's hard to choose sometimes because you want to do them all."
  • "In general, the license cost will be about 30% of the total TCO for this tool (hardware/support team, OS costs, and OS management)."
  • "The product, support, and maintenance are all expensive, which is another reason that we are switching to another solution."
  • "The price is very high."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "Currently, a perpetual license but some services are moving to a subscription"
  • More DX Spectrum Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Pricing and licensing is quite expensive. But for the value the product provides, it seems at par in the market."
  • "Although Splunk is an expensive product, it is designed to be utilized across your organization in order to maximize your ROI and lower your TCO."
  • "It is not cheap."
  • "Splunk Enterprise becomes extremely expensive after the 20GB/month license."
  • "You will eat up whatever you purchase quickly. The level of insights that Splunk empowers is addictive."
  • "Splunk licensing model might seem expensive but with all the gain in functionalities you will have compared to traditional SIEM solutions I think it’s worth the price."
  • "Pricing is pretty fair."
  • "While licensing can be a concern, there are ways to reduce the licensing costs including filtering some events."
