Handles workloads and diverse applications efficiently
We have a lot of VMs on Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers. On a single server, we have probably hosted 14 or 15 VMs. Out of these, 8 to 10 are continuously running, and four of them are backup VMs, so it can handle a good workload. For cybersecurity, it is only accessible on the intranet; it is not accessible through the web. We use it for local development purposes, and it is behind our firewall. Its security is strong. We handle a lot of test data for government and confidential customers. It is safe and strong locally. We have not experienced any security issues. Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers have helped to reduce unplanned production downtime if we need to replace a hard disk, instead of completely shutting a server, there is a hot swap feature. It is quite good in that aspect. Usually, for any activity, there is a downtime of about 30 minutes. It has saved a lot of time. We have tried AI workloads for a development environment for a government customer in Singapore. The servers are hosted in Singapore. It is an ML-based engine with AI. It is a government project where data is processed, and we run it on Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers. The benefit of running AI workloads on PowerEdge Servers is that it is easy to allocate memory. The application we are running is memory intensive. It is pretty easy to scale memory and storage.

Helps to save time and has no issues with integration
We use the solution for our browser router.  We haven't faced any issues with the tool's integration.  Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms should incorporate gen AI features. I have been working with the product for five years. I rate Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms'…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The optimization of hardware and the ability to extend the hardware are valued features."
"The product is reliable."
"Its approach to user security measures is valuable. We haven't experienced any major issues, and the solution has been working really well."
"The most valuable features are remote management and iDRAC."
"The initial setup is so easy."
"The standout feature is the remote control accessibility, which allows our team to access and manage the servers locally or remotely."
"The iDRAC for remote access is the most useful feature because it's built into the machine. I can reboot them without having to be there physically. We do a lot of what we do remotely, and it handles that fine."
"They provide good support for part replacement, and when they cannot because the part is unavailable, they are pretty good at informing us and letting us know, but generally, these servers just sit in the data center and have been working 24/7 for years without any problems."
"The most valuable feature of Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms is its robustness."
"I recommend Juniper because it is a code router that is easy to configure and manage."
"We haven't faced any issues with the tool's integration."
"The product is highly scalable."
"It's a stable product."
"The main benefit of the Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms is their stability."
"The most valuable Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platform is its ability to do routing in any way that I need. It's more than capable of handling the load I'm currently sending."
"This solution is easy to manage and the resiliency of the hardware is excellent."

Cons

"PowerEdge could have more configuration options, such as the ability to combine different CPUs, memory volumes, data storage, and memory. The new Intel-based ones are a bit power-hungry."
"System security can be improved. They can add more power and security for ESXi version 7."
"The aftermarket price for RAM modules and CPU cores is expensive. If I want to switch out a CPU or processor inside of my Dell PowerEdge to gain more cores, which increases my performance for VMware, the aftermarket price is so expensive that we typically take that box, retire an older Dell PowerEdge, and then buy a brand new one."
"We have experienced some challenges with iDRAC when upgrading firmware."
"We use PowerEdge servers in conjunction with VMware, a VCF Rack, and VxRail. That has worked out well. We are using it for firmware upgrades and other similar tasks. It's a one-stop shop, but it could be better when the servers aren't on a VCF stack. Profile handling and upgrading standalone servers could improve, but they have gotten better over the years."
"Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers could be improved in areas such as cooling. I've seen some demos of Dell working with Vertiv to manage things such as that, so a combination of air cool and liquid cool."
"I have used these servers in a government project along with Nutanix, and there is a security restriction. I do not know if it is from Dell's side or Nutanix's side. From the host, you cannot read the external hard drive data inside a VM."
"From a Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers perspective, I would prefer to see them just keep up with the latest processors, with more power."
"Although the support for this solution is good, there is still room for improvement."
"I want support to improve in terms of quality."
"Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms should improve by being more agile with new technology that sits on top of the router."
"It needs to be more multifunctional for enterprises."
"Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms should incorporate gen AI features."
"The main disadvantage is the price when compared to MikroTik, which is much cheaper but less stable."
"The product licensing process needs improvement."
"Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms could improve by having a graphical interface. A lot of the younger generation tend to be used to graphical interfaces, command line tends to scare them."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's prices are good, especially considering what you get to use...The licensing aspect of the solution is also fine."
"Dell is pretty good. good. I had a conversation with Dell a while ago due to a vendor. We got much better pricing from a competitor. When I looked at another company, Dell called me and asked why am I looking at someone else when they have a distributor. I told them that their pricing was not good, so Dell went back to the distributor, and we got much better pricing"
"The pricing is very competitive."
"If price isn't a concern, I would recommend it."
"It's pretty much on par."
"It's not a very expensive solution."
"The pricing for Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers is on par with everything else at the moment."
"I know the pricing for Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers went up last year, and we weren't too happy about that, but it is what it is."
"The tool's pricing is in the middle."
"The price of Juniper MX Series Universal Routing Platforms is reasonable. We are on a perpetual license. I do not have any maintenance service as part of the license."
