Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The ability to see what we have not seen before is most valuable. It is very interesting to find out the most vulnerable devices in our network.""The most valuable feature is that it works autonomously.""The most valuable feature is that it gives us visibility of rogue traffic that is on the network.""The platform has many modules, and each module examines a different situation in the behavior.""The initial setup is simple.""I have found the most valuable features to be artificial intelligence for cybersecurity, advanced machine learning capabilities, enterprise Immune System, Antigena Network, and Antigena Email. The way the solution detects the threat over the network before it spreads is very good. It notifies you of what the threat is exactly doing and gives you all the details about the execution of that application that had created the threat over your network.""The product can scale.""It is autonomous. So, it learns. It uses algorithms and AI to learn the common behavioral patterns on the network, and it is able to identify threats based on abnormal patterns."

"This solution gives us insight into our environment and improves our security. It helps us to maintain a good patching system whereby we know that XYZ is vulnerable within the system.""Qualys VM's most valuable feature is automatic detection.""The vulnerability management feature is what I used the most. It is a good SaaS product. It is easy to use. It has a nice UI where you can see all the assets and vulnerabilities.""The prioritization feature is great. I think it has all of the advanced features that we need.""The reporting functionality is great.""Qualys VM had a recent upgrade and the newer version is supporting the cloud.""Qualys has a continuous endpoint monitoring feature for agent-based scanning. Once you deploy the solution, it monitors everything that is happening every 30 minutes. Then, if there are any vulnerabilities, they are reported.""The most valuable feature is the connection of threat intelligence information with identified vulnerabilities, which means you can prioritize vulnerabilities according to actual attacks."

Cons
"In terms of improvements, fine-tuning is the area where we have to spend some time because it works on unsupervised machine learning. It would be good if they can improve their algorithm or technical functionality to reduce the fine-tuning effort. They can also come up with something at the endpoint level. So far, Darktrace has been a network detection response (NDR) solution. It does not offer much at the endpoint level or on user-client devices or servers. There should be more visibility at the endpoint level. It would be good to have the detection and response at the endpoint level by Darktrace. It should also have integration with an agile environment so that we can have continuous development and continuous integration in the application development environment. This is currently not there. It should also have internet-facing platform visibility, which is currently missing. They also need to improve the reporting and management dashboards. Currently, these are not so easy for a non-technical person. All these features would make Darktrace much better, and they would also be helpful in selling more solutions.""They just need to work on their price. In terms of features, we are trying to understand all the features that we have. We're still exploring everything that we have so that we can fully utilize it. At this point in time, it is not about the features. It is more about utilization. We're just trying to utilize everything to full capacity.""Upper management wasn't sold on the value proposition.""The interface is too mathematical and it should be simplified.""They just need to make it a little bit more accurate as far as their alerts are concerned. It does generate some false positives that you have to tune. You have to do a lot of tuning when you first get it because of the false positives, but once it is all tuned up and ready to go, it will do its thing from there.""It's a very complex platform.""The cost is a bit on the higher side.""It would be good if they can include some endpoint protection for remote workers. Nowadays, most people are working remotely. Therefore, they should include some type of sensors that can be installed on the endpoint in order to directly report the main usage and protect remotely. Phone protection will also be a great feature to add to Darktrace."

More Darktrace Cons →

"Some of the older features could be polished instead of focusing on releasing new features.""Qualys VM's vulnerability scan could be improved, especially the number of CVE numbers it can manage at a time.""It's too early for me to say if there is any room for improvement since we're in the first couple of months of using this solution.""The solution is a bit expensive if you do not have access to discounts.""I would like to see more accuracy in detections, better reporting capabilities, and better dashboard download capabilities.""The reporting and the GUI need improvements.""Certain integration factors between different options could be improved.""This solution could be improved by extending the agent capabilities to different operating systems including Mac and Linux. We would also like the capability to easily check for vulnerability in assets in the IOTs."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing is very flexible for Darktrace. Sometimes, a customer does not have the appropriate budget, but Darktrace can handle that. They offer monthly payments, so the customer can acquire the solution very easily."
  • "When it comes to large installations, it can be expensive, but for small accounts it's fine."
  • "It is a very expensive product."
  • "It is expensive. I don't have the price for other competitors."
  • "This solution is expensive."
  • "The price of the solution is not cheap. It is not a one-time purchase, there is a subscription that needs to be paid every one to five years depending on your choice. It is expensive but you can reduce the price by only using the services that you want."
  • "It was $3,600 a month or $2,000 plus or so. I am not sure. Its licensing is pretty simple."
  • "It's an expensive solution."

  • "It is different for every company, but for us, it's every three years."
  • "Qualys is cheaper and more affordable than other solutions."
  • "The pricing and licensing for Qualys could be improved."
  • "We do see over $100,000 in terms of price, for mid-size programs. You likely will pay more than $100,000 without any discount. It is a bit pricey."
  • "I used to work there, so I never paid for the product. As an employee, we get a lifetime license for personal use, and that's what I'm using. It is a comprehensive platform, so there is a lot more to it. There could be other solutions that are probably a little bit cheaper, but it depends on what people need. Different people have different needs. It offers many things on the same platform. If you add all the things up, it should be cheaper, but I have not done any analysis specifically."
  • "There is a license for the use of this solution. We pay annually instead of monthly to receive a better discount on the price."
  • "Qualys VM is better suited for medium to large companies because the price can be too much for smaller customers."
  • "There are no additional fees in addition to the standard licensing fees."

    Reviews from Real Users

Imad A., Group IT Manager at a manufacturing company, says, “"I have found the most valuable features to be artificial intelligence for cybersecurity, advanced machine learning capabilities, enterprise Immune System, Antigena Network, and Antigena Email. The way the solution detects the threat over the network before it spreads is very good. It notifies you of what the threat is exactly doing and gives you all the details about the execution of that application that had created the threat over your network."

A Security Engineer at a real estate/law firm states, "The Antigena feature is most valuable. Once it learns your environment, Antigena can step in and block a denial of service attack, a ransomware attack, or just about anything that doesn't belong in the environment. It can detect any type of attack that hits the environment because it understands what normal looks like for the network. It is very useful for an autonomous response."

Qualys VM is a vulnerability management tool that is cloud-based and gives you immediate, global visibility into where your IT systems might be vulnerable to the latest internet threats and how to protect them. The solution uses real-time threat intelligence, advanced correlation, and powerful machine learning models to automatically prioritize the riskiest vulnerabilities on your most critical assets – reducing potentially thousands of discovered vulnerabilities. Qualys VM frees you from the substantial cost, resource, and deployment issues associated with traditional software products.

    Qualys VM Features

Qualys VM has many valuable key features. Some of the most useful ones include:

    • Agent-based detection: Qualys VM works with Qualys Cloud Agents, extending its network coverage to assets that can’t be scanned. With this feature, vulnerabilities are found faster and network impact is minimal.
    • Constant monitoring and alerts: Teams are proactively alerted about potential threats so problems can be tackled before turning into breaches. You can tailor alerts and be notified about general changes or specific circumstances.
    • Comprehensive coverage and visibility: Qualys VM scans and identifies vulnerabilities continuously in order to protect your IT assets on premises, in the cloud, and mobile endpoints. In addition, its executive dashboard displays an overview of your security posture and access to remediation details. The solution also generates custom role-based reports for multiple stakeholders, including automatic security documentation for compliance auditors.

    Qualys VM Benefits

There are many benefits to implementing Qualys VM. Some of the biggest advantages the solution offers include:

    • Lower and more predictable TCO: The solution doesn’t require any capital expenditures, extra human resources, or infrastructure or software to deploy and manage.
    • Full clarity: Qualys VM gives you full clarity into your data center assets, identifies their vulnerabilities, prioritizes remediation, and assesses IT compliance.
    • Accurate, prioritized results: The solution features a powerful data analysis, correlation, and reporting engine.
    • Advanced protection: Because Qualys VM constantly monitors your environment, it can flag traffic anomalies and alert you of any compromising indicators.
    • Scan for vulnerabilities everywhere: You can scan systems anywhere from the same console, including your perimeter, your internal network, and cloud environments. Since Qualys separates scanning from reporting, you can create custom reports showing each audience just the level of detail it needs to see.

    Reviews from Real Users

Qualys VM is a solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Some of its major advantages are that it offers good continuous monitoring, reporting functionality, and other valuable features like a priority mechanism.

A Senior Security Consultant at a tech services company says, “Continuous Monitoring is excellent because it is entirely dependent on the agent, and the Agent Scan, is also quite good. I also like the asset tagging, asset grouping features, and the dashboard, because we can customize and create our own dashboard.”

Another reviewer, an Information Security Manager at an outsourcing company comments, “The reporting functionality is great. It's more accurate and effective to get a picture of what the vulnerabilities are in a more distributed workforce.”

Additionally, a Cyber Security Director at a manufacturing company mentions, “The prioritization mechanism is the most valuable aspect of the solution.” And also adds, “The initial setup is straightforward and technical support is great.”
