Cost has remained low while implementation proceeds without complications
To capture the critical traffic to prioritize is not something I work with in advanced QoS features. Regarding VLAN support in bandwidth management, we are not utilizing VLAN for the infrastructure as we have a minimal requirement for VLAN, so we have not yet implemented any of the features relevant to the virtual LANs. It's very hard to answer the question about minor improvements D-Link Ethernet Switches could do with their products because the products I'm dealing with are just plug-and-play, unmanaged switches. It would be more appropriate to comment on features if I had been using Layer 2 or Layer 3 switches for at least a couple of months. I don't think there are any disadvantages I can point out for the product.

Greatly simplifies troubleshooting; remote access to the router is a huge time saver
The solution has a problem with documentation. Luxul doesn't want to give the documentation to any Joe Bloggs, but even as a dealer going to the Luxul portal, there are no documents. I can always call technical support and ask them if I forget something and I'll get the support, but I shouldn't need to do that. Anything can be improved and unfortunately a good switch is not cheap but there's no choice if you need a special router.

Cons

"This solution is not good for distribution at the core."
"I would like an option to create different networks within the switch."
"For high-end switches, the price could be 5% to 10% cheaper. Improvements in the voltage facility, like increasing from 360 watts to 400 or 450 watts, would make them more competitive with other vendors."
"They could be more stable. They were not as resistant as Cisco. After some time, some of them failed. This could be because we import quite a lot of products from different horizons, so there is no guarantee of quality. In Africa, these products don't always directly come from the manufacturer. We get these products from the Middle East or Asia. Therefore, you cannot be sure that the quality is exactly similar to what you have in Europe or America."
"D-Link switches are not as robust as Cisco."
"In future releases, I would like to see improved security and an improved CLI (Command-Line Interface)."
"Areas of the solution that have room for improvement include scalability, as it should improve both scaling and security."
"Though few, L2 switches are a bit costly to afford."
"You do need to be an IT person in order to handle the initial setup. An AV person would struggle a bit."
"While the solution is good for the light commercial market or for the residential market, it's not ideal for the commercial market, for example, a big enterprise or data center."
"The documentation could be improved; it's quite basic."
"The solution has a problem with documentation. Luxul doesn't want to give the documentation to any Joe Bloggs, but even as a dealer going to the Luxul portal, there are no documents."
"Documentation and access to it could be greatly improved."
