Doesn't have daily updates, which is important for healthcare IT
I face challenges with the exclusion policy - it still scans folders we told it not to, causing issues. When we contact support, they tell us to update the latest agent, but we can't do that immediately due to medical device protocols and validation testing. I wish support would try to understand our issues better instead of giving this standard response. The machine learning feature they use often tells us to upgrade the agent or add things to the exclusion list, which isn't unacceptable. It's a very good and new technology as a tool and antivirus. But sometimes, it doesn't work properly with our medical devices and products, quarantining files it shouldn't even after we add them to exclusions. This is tricky for us.

AI-driven threat detection strengthens security and supports seamless integration
My company had an opportunity to implement Trend Micro Endpoint for one of our customers. They have around 500 PCs as endpoints and also around 100 or 120 servers The behavior analytics feature is very useful, and its threat detection based on AI is very strong. It is easy to integrate with other…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"On the management side, we liked the way it displays things."
"CylancePROTECT works on AI technology, is always up to date, and uses very few resources on your devices."
"It secures different entry points into the network."
"The solution’s AI is its most valuable feature."
"It handles situations that the other threat management tools wouldn't find. It has worked well covering the weaker sides of the other products that we're integrating."
"Even if an endpoint loses connection to the Internet, I know that endpoint is protected against 99.99% of the threats in the wild today."
"The solution is very quick at easily changing the levels of protection for each computer and the server."
"The solution is extremely scalable. It's got the hybrid functionality, it's got the system functionality and cloud functionality as well."
"It is very precise and allows more permission for different use cases."
"The behavior analytics feature is very useful, and its threat detection based on AI is very strong."
"The solution is stable and integrated into the system quite well."
"It's reduced administrative overhead overall thanks to its centralized dashboard and single network administrator."
"The cloud-based management portal was okay."
"It's made it easier for us to monitor the security environment in general."
"It's very good and efficient."
"Trend Micro has advanced protection capabilities that cover unknown and advanced novel threats. It's critical because restoration could be complicated if we lose machines or information on the machine. If we lose some business information, we might run afoul of the law. Apex One can prevent all these incidents. It's an excellent solution."

Cons

"The management console needs a little maturity in how it presents data and allows the administrator to drill down or search across systems."
"We would like to see secure integration and multi-factor authentication to be able to access the administration dashboard."
"They could improve on the false positives, reporting and whitelisting features."
"The OPTICS component could be made more user-friendly with respect to giving people more information."
"It could have integration with industrial base HMIS or Human Machine Interfaces Solutions. This is the industrial environment where you have a control center for all the automation that's happening, whether it is oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing. They often have to set up a computer at the back and watch the other stuff to get alerts. In these autonomous or on-premises environments, they often don't have access to email readily. Integration with other industrial solutions, such as HMIS, will allow them to communicate and get an alert that something has been found. This way, they can react to it sooner than having somebody watch the screen and keep checking the screen. Rockwell has its own suite. Similarly, Honeywell has its own suite. There's also an independent HMI/historian solution provider out there called VTSCADA. We actually get asked if we can get it to show up on a screen, which is difficult. Getting those alerts to work within an industrial environment would be a huge plus."
"I face challenges with the exclusion policy - it still scans folders we told it not to, causing issues. The machine learning feature they use often tells us to upgrade the agent or add things to the exclusion list, which isn't unacceptable."
"Reporting is an area with shortcomings in CylancePROTECT that needs to be improved."
"I would like to see them fix the alerting system so that the endpoint reporting is a bit more streamlined."
"In the next release, I would like to see IBS included in OfficeScan."
"Lacking features, not yet fully mature."
"The solution can be improved to utilize fewer system resources, like memory and hard disk, during scanning."
"There is a need for enhancement in certain reporting formats."
"I don't give it a perfect 10 because of the Active Directory integration. It would make things easier if the Active Directory were integrated more seamlessly."
"The support could be more customer-friendly, although my experience with them has been okay."
"The product can be a bit heavy."
"In the future, the solution should include the XDR feature."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We went through a third party initially to do the renewal, but we won't be renewing, we will move on to something else."
"CylancePROTECT is worth the money, but I'm not sure of its exact price. I can't remember off the top of my head."
"Currently, we have competitive pricing for Cylance, which is affordable enough to consider."
"Review closely how many endpoints you actually need before buying into a pricing level. Deal and deal with the VAR of your choice."
"The monthly fee is $55 USD per user."
"The price is reasonable for us at the moment. I rate the overall solution an eight out of ten."
"The initial end-point cost may seem a little high (~$55/device/year) but when you look at the total peace of mind that the solution provides, with no reboots for updates, and negligible performance impact, it is well worth it."
"The solution's pricing is around the same as most EDRs but slightly behind some of the major ones."
"The pricing of Trend Micro Apex One was reasonable. There is a license required to use the solution and we have upgraded the solution to include some additional features, such as XDR."
"If I remember correctly, the cost is approximately four and a half thousand per year."
"The price for Trend Micro is reasonable."
"There are licenses for Apex One's individual security features, so it depends on what the customer needs. But in general, Trend Micro is cheap, and many customers require it."
"Trend Micro Apex One's subscription model is definitely on the expensive side."
"The price is very good compared to other products."
"We are using an annual license for this solution."
"The licensing fee and support are bundled together."
