We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The diagram showing the limits is absolutely magnificent.""The solution's most valuable features are its scalability and how it can be integrated to any other intakes.""Collibra's lineage is a very powerful feature. We have integrated Collibra with Azure and ADLS storage and we create lineage diagrams using the two tools.""We have folks in the field doing our clinical research operations, and they have the opportunity to refer to Collibra when they are examining a particular report. When they have a question about how something in that report is derived, they can pull a metric that is defined fully in Collibra. They have the opportunity to drill back into Collibra to see that.""The most valuable feature is the discovery process for the data catalog because we get it in a visual format as a way to understand and classify it.""In terms of data governance, as I mentioned, it can be a one-stop solution for all of your data governance needs.""This solution is user friendly and offers multiple functionalities. It operates like a kind of a repository that allows you to find anything about a particular data set or field.""The customization and the dashboards are pretty good."

"Veritas Data Insight has been instrumental in managing and categorizing data across our storage repository. The tool identifies valuable business data and distinguishes it from non-essential data. This capability empowers us to separate and exclude unnecessary data from our long-term retention strategy. Its valuable feature is alert mitigation.""Data Insight is a good product to do everything. It is kind of transparent to administrators. It is also a very good solution with regards to GDPR compliance and regulations. Veritas is a well-established company, and it has a long legacy. Veritas solutions have expected stability and flexibility. It supports most of the flexible solutions in the market and has support for data protection, data monitoring, and things like that. In these ransomware times, it is a very important company with good solutions.""The stability has been great.""The most valuable features of Veritas Data Insight are the ease of use, one console deployment for the administration, and backups that can be done in minutes. It is a very fast solution."

Cons
"The UI is good if you happen to be an administrator and are familiar with the technical side of the administration. If you're a business user, the UI is not good. It is hard to learn. It is hard for those who are administering it to teach to end-users and it can take hours of training to do it. Because it is difficult and non-intuitive, business users resist using it. It is a battle to get them on board and to keep them engaged because of the UI.""Data discovery needs to be improved.""There are certain limitations and difficulties regarding the migration of complex data quality rules, as the tool may struggle with lengthy calculations and longer loading times.""Collibra gives a lot of facilities in the cloud, but achieving those facilities on-prem becomes a big challenge""While connecting with the data source, it's not very easy. If there's a firewall, it is difficult to connect with the database. It's not easy when you are configuring on the database.""This solution could be improved with the the addition of process diagrams to help the many users of the platform understand all the fields.""The workflows and the language they use needs to be improved.""Recently, I find that the default process of issue management in Collibra is really complex — It wasn't really helpful to us."

More Collibra Governance Cons →

"Veritas Data Insight can improve the price.""Its deployment can be a little bit complex. It should be easier to set up. The ease of use of this solution can also be improved, and it could have a cleaner, up-to-date, and intuitive GUI. There are a lot of competitors out there with much nicer GUI and easier setup. It should have a better connection with the cloud sources and much more monitoring. I would like to have a single management interface for on-premises and cloud deployments so that we don't have to switch between them. Its technical support can also be a little bit better.""The solution is not lacking any features at this time.""The nature of both data processing and start processes often involves varying timeframes for retrieval, mainly dependent on the historical data being accessed. When the request involves pulling information from six months or two years ago, the process may take longer."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I am not so much aware of price details. Initially, there was an add-on NuSoft license to use the DVC connector that NuSoft gives to create integrations, but Collibra is now phasing out of it slowly. Collibra is cutting ties with them is what we have been led to believe, and we have started developing on Spring Boot, which is open source."
  • "I think it is on a yearly basis, but I'm not involved with the pricing session, so I have no idea. There are several licenses for different models. You get one license per product, but a lot of features are controlled separately through different licenses. So, as and when you want to use a feature, you have to procure the license for that feature."
  • "I think they have a trust issue. I did not like the way they recently went through the process. They were like, "Finish this SOW first, only then will we sign the other SOW." Or, "Finish this code." I didn't like that much."
  • "I would say it's probably in line with what other vendors charge for licensing."
  • "It is substantial, and we do pay yearly."
  • "There are different levels of licenses. For example, some users can only do read-only licenses, and others have the stewardship license where they can give access to users."
  • "Collibra Governance is expensive - I would rate its pricing as one out of five."
  • "Collibra provides you with a license based on the subscription model that you purchase."
  • More Collibra Governance Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Licensing is based on the number of users or the usage in terabytes."
  • "It is my understanding that the license with one year of support is, per user, around 25 Euros."
  • "The price of Veritas Data Insight could improve, it is expensive."
  • "For Veritas Data Insight, the usage is based on a per-terabyte model. The annual cost for this usage is approximately one million dollars. It would be roughly 50,000 dollars to provide a more accurate equivalent."
