Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The beauty of the solution is that you can customize it quite a bit.""It enables a linear view of the data assets across different levels, providing a comprehensive understanding.""We use the solution's Data Stewardship part.""The ability to collaborate and approve business terms for the business glossary data dictionary is excellent.""The workflow is very good and has been embedded. It also has a great user interface.""The solution's most valuable features are its scalability and how it can be integrated to any other intakes.""I like the lineage feature the most because I don't think there's any other tool that actually depicts the data flow from multiple sources and the connectivities between every data element inside those sources.""Collibra Governance is a stable solution."

"It is not only a software solution. It is also based on a direct policy. You get a methodology for data governance and the solution that supports this methodology, which makes things much easier. In addition, this is the only solution right now in the market that has an approach directly directed to the value. By value, I am referring to a tangible value raising money. It has an aspect that is called governed by value. We only focus on the data that is actually bringing a monetary value to your organization or your business process. It is so much simpler working around this system. It has a lot of intelligence embedded in it, and it does a lot of things automatically. It just hooks on to your virtual databases, and you are ready to go in hours. It is an all-in-one solution in which you get data governance, data quality, business transformation, and business excellence.""The most valuable feature is the semantic linguistic artificial intelligence that allows the user to have contact with the system in their natural language."

Cons
"It would be better if there was a way to import all data and metadata in an automatic way in one block form.""Certain implementations, including lineage maps, could be user-friendly.""While connecting with the data source, it's not very easy. If there's a firewall, it is difficult to connect with the database. It's not easy when you are configuring on the database.""The UI is good if you happen to be an administrator and are familiar with the technical side of the administration. If you're a business user, the UI is not good. It is hard to learn. It is hard for those who are administering it to teach to end-users and it can take hours of training to do it. Because it is difficult and non-intuitive, business users resist using it. It is a battle to get them on board and to keep them engaged because of the UI.""I'm fairly new to the product, however, what I generally hear from my clients is that the requirement around having ways to ingest more metadata.""The connectors are not very sophisticated. They can do, for example, Informatica and Tableau, but the connectors themselves could be improved.""The technical support could be better.""If someone changes the metadata, we can't see who changed it."

"Its interface could be simpler. Sometimes, you need to go through many clicks in order to find something in the software. You need to move from one thing to another to find something.""It could be nice to have a little update on the menu to get it more up-to-date with current trends and to make it pop out more when you visit the site."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I am not so much aware of price details. Initially, there was an add-on NuSoft license to use the DVC connector that NuSoft gives to create integrations, but Collibra is now phasing out of it slowly. Collibra is cutting ties with them is what we have been led to believe, and we have started developing on Spring Boot, which is open source."
  • "I think it is on a yearly basis, but I'm not involved with the pricing session, so I have no idea. There are several licenses for different models. You get one license per product, but a lot of features are controlled separately through different licenses. So, as and when you want to use a feature, you have to procure the license for that feature."
  • "I think they have a trust issue. I did not like the way they recently went through the process. They were like, "Finish this SOW first, only then will we sign the other SOW." Or, "Finish this code." I didn't like that much."
  • "I would say it's probably in line with what other vendors charge for licensing."
  • "It is substantial, and we do pay yearly."
  • "There are different levels of licenses. For example, some users can only do read-only licenses, and others have the stewardship license where they can give access to users."
  • "Collibra Governance is expensive - I would rate its pricing as one out of five."
  • "Collibra provides you with a license based on the subscription model that you purchase."

  • "This is the only company that I've worked with that has a very good way of thinking and placing itself in the buyer's shoes. They offer a pretty competitive price. They understand that the market is different in our economy for different clients, which makes it easier to get the products into the market. If needed, they are pretty open to adjusting the price on the case-by-case scenario. They understand the Latin American market. This is something that has been impossible with other companies or data governance care providers. The prices were much higher for these companies, and they don't understand our economy and market. There are a lot of local taxes that we pay locally to get any solution down here. To give you an idea, there is more or less a 60% increase in the price of any product that comes to Ecuador."
