Unified cloud security has simplified multi-cloud visibility and streamlined developer workflows
Cloudanix could improve by addressing the limitations in terms of customization. The feature expectations suggest that integrating products such as Slack for IAM workflows or enhancing asset management visibility would give it overall weightage. Enhancing customization is necessary because the current limitations cause some drawbacks in its performance that should be improvised. Regarding needed improvements, I feel that the primary strength of Cloudanix lies in unified security governance and IAM. It needs further improvement in risk correlation and attack path analysis; additionally, it requires richer dashboards to enhance the UI and usability as well. The attack path analysis is a key area that needs further industry-level enhancement, while the integration aspect is a growing ecosystem that requires improvements over time. Additional improvements Cloudanix needs include enhancing the enterprise-grade support experience.

Identity has become our central gatekeeper and has provided secure single sign-on for all users
Microsoft Entra ID can improve by focusing more on new passwordless methods and becoming a primary adopter. One feature we would like to see is the ability to have security questions for password resets. I know the current capability is phasing out, so we do not have an alternative method yet. Customers who already use security questions require a smoother transition for that capability to be available. My experience with the deployment has had some challenges, particularly around the Microsoft MFA campaigns. The hardest part is moving users from a different MFA provider to the Microsoft MFA provider, as it ultimately depends on user activity. In large enterprises with numerous users across various geographies, this transition takes time. If there are ways to exert more control around that process, it would improve the situation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Choosing Cloudanix has proven very efficient and intuitive, and it remains easy to handle compared to other products available in the market."
"The identity and access management piece is probably the most valuable to us. Since its implementation, synchronizing the identities from on-premise to Entra ID has had a positive impact. This allows us to grant access to applications based on those users and the groups they belong to."
"The features of Microsoft Entra ID that I appreciate the most include the incredible value we have found in the MFA piece along with Conditional Access."
"Entra ID provides an excellent overview of the applications and the options applied to them."
"Microsoft Entra ID deserves a ten out of ten rating."
"It is quite good, and we are quite pleased with this solution."
"It's user-friendly and easy to understand."
"The most valuable features of Microsoft Entra ID are the login and the conditional access pieces."
"Coming from a traditional on-premises Active Directory infrastructure, it is purely a SaaS platform. It is global. It is evergreen. It is always evolving. It is core to the Microsoft Ecosystem."

Cons

"Cloudanix could improve by addressing the limitations in terms of customization."
"The technical support could improve by having a faster response time."
"We did experience downtime tied to Microsoft when there was an issue with Front Door. All external identity platform services were down for more than 8 hours, which was a critical incident from a couple of months back."
"The custom role creation function could be improved as it's somewhat tricky to use."
"Their support needs improvement. The UI can also be better. The menu options are very confusing at times."
"Tech support is inconsistent."
"Microsoft Authenticator is as easy as Google Authenticator, but it is not open to all types of applications. Google Authenticator is integrated with other third-party platforms and applications, whereas Microsoft Authenticator is not."
"Microsoft has a very weird way of licensing the product."
"Azure Active Directory could benefit by adding the capability for identity life cycle for the on-premise solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The licensing is really not clear unless you are a premium client."
"Expensive solution, but if you look at the technical benefits it provides, the price for it is decent."
"We are currently on the education plan, so the price is slightly better than the development plan."
"Microsoft Entra ID service can be quite costly due to its hidden expenses linked to usage."
"It is worth the money."
"We got a good deal. If you get rid of all the products providing features that Azure Suite can provide, then it makes sense cost-wise."
"Microsoft has a free version of Azure AD. So, if you don't do a lot of advanced features, then you can use the free version, which is no cost at all because it is underpinning Office 365. Because Microsoft gives it to you as a SaaS, so there are no infrastructure costs whatsoever that you need to incur. If you use the free version, then it is free. If you use the advanced features (that we use), it is a license fee per user."
"We don't really have a choice. It's the one shop in town. If you want this, you have to pay for it."
