We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Cisco Sourcefire SNORT is easy to configure and the reporting is great. It's also very user-friendly.""I like most of Cisco's features, like malware detection and URL filtering.""It simplifies the configuration process by offering pre-defined base configurations, including security and connectivity settings.""The whole solution is very good, and stable.""The most valuable feature is the visibility that we have across the virtual environment.""It has a huge rate of protection. It's has a low level of positives and a huge rate of threat protection. It's easy to deploy and easy to implement. It has an incredible price rate compared to similar solutions.""The product is inexpensive compared to leading brands such as Palo Alto or Fortinet.""It is quite an intelligent product."

"The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiManager is the ease of manageability and policy-pushing functionality.""The most valuable features are the centralized management of the firewalls.""Everybody is quite happy with the way that the graphical user interface works.""I like the rapid deployment feature. I also like that it's easy to troubleshoot. FortiManager is amazing because we can have a centralized policy. All our devices are integrated, and we can also engage in troubleshooting. We can use it for different deployments. One fantastic feature is the ability to create a version and deploy it immediately.""The reports feature is excellent.""Technical support is great. When we have sent urgent tickets and they do reply back within fifteen minutes.""I pushed templates from FortiManager to our site, and they were deployed successfully.""It's a scalable product."

Cons
"I would like to have analytics included in the suite.""There are problems setting up VPNs for some regions.""The main dashboard of Cisco Sourcefire SNORT could improve.""To be frank, the product is not really stable, although they're working on that. Whenever I go to the technical community with an issue, they will usually say that it is not there yet, but the technical team are working on it. The issues are not insolvable. I think they should just keep working on the product to make sure that the product can become very stable. The technical support is great. I appreciate that. We have a lot of communities supporting Firepower now, so you can find help for whatever issue you have.""The pricing needs to be improved. We have lots of low-budget clients around us. Budget constraints are always a deterrent in our market.""Integration with other components — even Cisco's own products — can be enhanced to improve administrative experience.""We are unhappy with technical support for this solution, and it is not as professional as what we typically expect from Cisco.""The cloud can be improved."

More Cisco Sourcefire SNORT Cons →

"The reporting details have room for improvement.""You cannot integrate with other solutions.""FortiManager could be more user-friendly.""There may be a communication issue. However, other items may be the culprit, such as network connectivity. It depends on the customer's network.""The FortiManager is more complex and they can make it easier to use the VPN manager. All other features are okay. However, the VPN manager is more difficult and can cause some issues in the environment, if you do not have the experience to use it.""FortiManager could improve by making it easier to port larger policy packages to the FortiGate firewalls. Sometimes, there's an issue when we install a big package of policies. If you have a couple thousand policies for FortiGate firewalls, it can take a few minutes to receive a response from the remote devices. It's only an issue when you're dealing with thousands of policies and installing them on a large number of devices.""The solution should be more open to other products.""When we have a specific configuration pushed it does take some time to be deployed on the actual firewall."
