Network automation has simplified secure multi-site connectivity and reduced daily operational effort
I believe Cisco ACI could improve by incorporating something related to agentic AI, where it can execute tasks based on particular evaluations or loop engineering, enhancing fault identification or suggestions based on each tenant's configuration. Additionally, I think they should ensure that the documentation is comprehensive. I appreciate that Cisco provides documentation, and their support engineers are helpful in case of any issues. In terms of governance and security regarding Cisco ACI's AI capabilities, I think what we call evals or evaluations is important, whereby the engineer can evaluate the functionalities of the AI in Cisco ACI, preventing it from making deletions or modifications on its own. Therefore, there should be evaluations or guardrails incorporated into the development capabilities. Regarding accuracy and reliability of output for Cisco ACI's AI capabilities, it hasn't met my expectations. What we need is something called RAG, or retrieval-augmented generation. If Cisco can implement that to utilize customer-specific data instead of general knowledge, while ensuring data privacy under GDPR laws, I think that will result in very good, reliable output.

Virtual tours have transformed how we present properties and save time on client visits
The best features of Matterport for me include the dollhouse view, which provides a great overview when loading the project, and the measurement tool, which allows me to measure the distance between two points. This feature helps considerably, giving people a clear understanding of the actual sizes and measurements inside the units, and we have received great feedback regarding that. While Matterport is a component of our overall user journey, its impact includes time savings, fewer onsite visits, and smoother client communication. I cannot say that the benefits are solely due to Matterport, as we could have realized similar benefits with any comparable tool, but it plays an important role in enhancing our immersive experience applications.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is programmability, where we can manage a network via APIs and software, as opposed to having to manage complex hardware."
"It has benefited my organization by saving us a lot of time."
"The main benefit is the simplicity of the deployment."
"The efficiency in terms of the data center latency has been reduced by around 20-30%. Our applications function a lot better. We get a lot of intuitive data to know how our application stack is performing."
"The most valuable feature is that we have centralized management and control of pretty much the entire data center and the architecture of it."
"I recommend Cisco ACI because right now, there is no other solution like it."
"Virtualization and integration with VMware is the most valuable feature."
"It has made it much easier to deploy and make changes in the data center versus the previous infrastructure, which was NX-OS based."
"I would suggest anyone considering Matterport for physical properties use it, as it is really smooth and fast."
"It is actually pretty important for us; our day starts with Megaport."
"Megaport impacts my organization by not necessarily lowering cost, but it reduces a lot of time and increases the bandwidth, which increases the performance, especially in terms of overall company performance and network performance."
"The pricing model of Megaport is appealing, along with its flexibility in providing connectivity to end customers."

Cons

"The initial setup of this solution is not straightforward. We had our standard configuration running, but when we moved to ACI it was a completely different dimension."
"In terms of improvement, I would like to see some sort of way to baseline the system in a network-centric fashion."
"An area for improvement in Cisco ACI is security, which Cisco needs to enhance in the solution. Though Cisco ACI uses a whitelist model, you must purchase an external product, such as a security firewall solution, to make whitelisting work, which the customer could find expensive. For example, you're a customer who has Cisco ACI, and the solution doesn't have IP-based filtering, so as a customer, you've purchased Cisco ACI. However, you still need to buy another product for security, and some customers wouldn't like that. However, some customers prefer to go with Cisco ACI because of its scalability and flexibility versus other solutions such as Juniper and Aruba. Technical support for Cisco ACI also needs improvement, particularly in product knowledge."
"We had issues in the first deployment when we tried to finish the migration from traditional networking to Cisco ACI."
"Cisco should provide more examples of code in their website. Something that other people can use. There is a great place in the development area."
"I have been a bit disappointed with technical support from Cisco. They will often take some time to respond."
"We're still in the process of doing the migration. We haven't migrated completely all of our applications out of our legacy into it yet. It was challenging at first, but getting easier now that we're starting to get into it."
"It adds a layer of complexity that you can really do without."
"There are no notable complaints from customers regarding Megaport, and there hasn't been any identified need for improvement."
"However, the part that can improve is that it should be a little bit easier to use and more user-friendly."
"I wish Matterport had a mini map feature to show where we are within the property floor plan."
"My suggestion would be for Megaport to make the terminal more user-friendly; I use Windows, so it's not a problem, but I'm not sure how it would work in Linux or Ubuntu-based systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"It's expensive but the product is very good. I have never found another partner like Cisco with a solution like this and with great support."
"Cisco ACI costs depend on how many sites you have. One simple site with a simple installation, including two leaves, two spines, and some fibers, would cost $200,000 to $300,000 for the licenses. The solution is a bit expensive, but it's a good investment if you want your data centers to work without interruption."
"The pricing, including both hardware and licenses, is reasonable."
"The price could be improved. It is expensive, but then again, it is Cisco. The price is worth what you pay for."
"Pricing for Cisco ACI could be expensive if you're not a gold partner. If you're a gold partner, you'll get reasonable pricing, but to become a gold partner, you must cross several layers. For example, at least twenty engineers within your organization have to be certified, with each certification priced at £2,000 minimum, so this would make some companies think twice about the product. If you're going for Aruba and Juniper products, on the other hand, you can quickly get the partner status, and you can start selling the product. As a gold partner, you can get up to seventy percent discount on Cisco ACI, for example, while an ordinary partner gets ten percent off. Cisco ACI is expensive for both customers and partners, but I'm rating pricing for the product as four out of five because even if the price is costly, you get a lot of benefits from the product. Cisco ACI isn't the best, price-wise, but it's still a good solution. If you're in a small organization, you may be unable to afford it. Cisco ACI is best for enterprises but not SMBs because Cisco ACI and its required resources are expensive."
"The licensing cost for ACI is expensive - I would rate its price 2.5 out of five."
"Price is always an issue."
