Great firewalls, VPN, and Intrusion prevention capabilities
Some features that could be improved are advanced threat protection, sandboxing, and vulnerability management. Another point is to improve the technical support provided by Check Point UTM-1. Although the company offers different standards, including basic and premium, by mail and by telephone, they present a very large deficiency in the time it takes to comply with the provisions of the SLA. Coordinating a meeting is complicated by the schedules. The documentation should also be improved by having it unified.

Robust protection has blocked external threats and provides clear visibility into user activity
Sophos Firewall offers multiple features, including IPS, IDS, ATP, NDR, XOps, web protection, application protection, web server protection, and many more. Out of all those features, I find web protection and application protection to be very helpful and valuable in my daily work. Sophos Firewall has positively impacted my organization by preventing outside threats, allowing me to easily monitor my users, and configuring any rule for any user regarding what they need to use and what I am restricting for the particular user. I can share that it has improved productivity because if anyone could ransom my network, they could demand money to decrypt the files, thus saving us money, time, and providing reliability.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The UTM platform has been the most valuable."
"It safeguards against cyber attacks."
"The solution came to give us an elimination of having independent products such as antivirus firewalls and all the types of applications that were previously used for this type of content filtering, and now it is a single solution."
"Browsing speed has picked up considerably as users now have to do their official work and cannot browse social sites instead."
"Firewalls help us a lot in controlling traffic on our network and preventing unauthorized access."
"The major improvement was the ability to have a very good log, as we are able to log all details and troubleshoot when a problem occurs."
"Check Point has been in the security industry for so long that it has evolved different solutions and technologies."
"The most outstanding feature is being able to centralize each of the functions in a single device."
"It has pretty good functionality and good pricing."
"For small to medium-sized businesses, Sophos XG works well, it is stable."
"As a security solution, it's a very good security solution."
"My company now spends less time tracking issues because of the security provided by Sophos XG in conjunction with Sophos Endpoint protection."
"Sophos XGS has very good reporting capabilities and effective IPS signatures based on the latest versions."
"Web publishing is important, as well as the importance of the antivirus patch."
"There are good KCL rules and policies as well as NATing rules."
"It is very user friendly and easy to manage from the administrative point of view. It is good, reliable, and easy to implement."

Cons

"Customer Service: Horrible. It takes them days, sometimes weeks, until they try to help, and then they don't help enough."
"Technical support was very bad because the supplier who sold it to us, wasn't very supportive, and he wouldn't giving us direct links to the OEM."
"Specifically on the user experience, sometimes the set up of things, such as the VPN SSL, takes a lot of time to load and a lot of time to get up and running on every session."
"Memory and processing power: These devices are strictly for small business applications."
"I am not able to see a demo."
"The entire GUI, look and feel of the application."
"Customer service is not their strong suite. It takes a lot of time until they fix anything, and it can be better to try and fix the issue without them."
"The physical memory is insufficient for installing policies and some other operations."
"Scalability could be improved. It could be better."
"The reporting could be better."
"The installation could be faster and is longer than that of other solutions, lasting more than a month instead of five minutes."
"Because of the problems that we are having, I cannot recommend this solution to anyone at this time."
"They need to do more quality checks before they release firmware upgrades. Currently, a few Cyberoam firewall customers are facing some issues while upgrading the Cyberoam firmware to Sophos."
"Their account manager and support in Africa are not so good."
"We are facing some problems on this firmware version, version 18, that require improvement. We want to improve the email security because it doesn't give proper security with the data protection. Also, our clients are facing some problems where most of the sites which they're accessing are getting blocked. I want to improve those sites, that email security, and the data protection on the Firmware version 18."
"I feel Sophos should add more telemetry data to its products...Right now, I think there are only less than a dozen vendors or OEMs supported by Sophos."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This cost is between 3,000 and 5,000 euros per year, so some other solutions are cheaper and the pricing should be improved."
"The pricing is too high."
"The pricing is economical."
"We bought the three-year license, and there are no additional costs."
"Sophos allows for its product to be evaluated without any financial commitment."
"The price is reasonable."
"The price of the solution is reasonable and their target market is small to medium-sized companies."
"Support costs are approximately 50 percent."
"XGS' price could be lower, though it's moderately priced in the market."
"The license for Sophos XGS is for three years, paid on a yearly basis. Everything is included with the license; there are no additional fees."
