We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Its end-to-end dashboard provides information on all the integration callouts happening on the server side."

More Cavisson NetDiagnostics Pros →

"It gives me notifications of notable events.""The most valuable aspect of the solution is the dashboard. It's very intuitive.""The most valuable feature of Splunk is the management and built-in workflows.""The ability to rapidly diagnose problems in production and non-production, across hundreds of log files, is the most valuable feature.""The consolidated overview of all the events that come in through our environment and an easy-to-access interface for all our end users are valuable.""The indexing and data collection are valuable.""Splunk has significantly reduced the time in performing the task of aggregating logs, reviewing as well as time spent during investigations.""The ability to quickly search logs, performance data, and other inputs has helped tremendously with troubleshooting."

More Splunk Enterprise Security Pros →

Cons
"They can improve on providing "help and navigation" for each feature available in the UI."

More Cavisson NetDiagnostics Cons →

"When you get into large amounts of data, Splunk can get pretty slow. This is the same on-premise or AWS, it doesn't matter. The way that they handle large data sets could be improved.""The solution has a high learning curve for users. It's a little complicated when you're trying to figure out all the features and what they do.""In terms of the interface, it could include some improvements for the look and feel.""Over time I will have more requirements and I can foresee the solution could improve the search algorithm to run and output the data faster.""An area of improvement would be the licensing of the solution. They need a free license, which would allow faster lead times.""I find the graphical options really limited and you don't have enough control over how to display the data that you want to see.""Some of the terminology can be confusing, even for seasoned vets. Renaming components at this point would be a serious undertaking. However, it might be beneficial in the long run.""It is a good product, but the Achilles heel for a lot of organizations is the cost model for it because it gets expensive. That's because the model is based on how much data it processes a day, which can be prohibitive, especially if you have a lot of data. A lot of customers may not be ready for the sticker shock on how to fully leverage the product. I realized that the reason for that is that when it was originally designed, it was kind of like a big data modeling application. If they want to have a bigger customer base, they can come out with subsets of their product that are focused on specific things and have different pricing models. It may help with the cost."
