Standardization and global information help with instantaneous projections
I recently discussed with them the need for better KPI measurements in the automotive world. A big KPI in the automotive world is the bookings of the future years, and we measure that not in annual revenue but in the lifetime of any given vehicle. Let's say, on average, a vehicle is in the market for five years, so we add up the five years of revenue that is generated with that vehicle. Every region and every account has targets where they have to say, "I'm going to source amount x in the upcoming year." This LOP calculation is not easily done because IHS also has limitations, so right now, it only projects out till 2031 or 2032. For instance, if we launch a program in 2028 that starts in 2030, only two years of data can be seen, and I cannot calculate the life of program revenue. We discussed it with them. They are looking into AI to make longer projections possible and to also improve the quality of the data that we have in the system to calculate this LOP based on historical data or IHS information. They had people who trained our staff, and some people, even though located in the US, were working 24/7 to accommodate our needs in Asia or Europe. These same people also had to implement the system and not just train, which I thought was a bit too much for people to handle. I told them that it would be beneficial to have someone in Asia or Europe to do those types of training during the time when those regions are working. They can have a hotline for simple questions. Sometimes, simple questions disrupt complex tasks. Having dedicated resources for basic inquiries could alleviate this issue. Additionally, it could be beneficial to have training videos within the system to handle routine questions instead of constantly bugging the people who are supposed to do way more complex things than that.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"You can identify resources by roles."
"Provides transparency through your investment portfolios at the top-level financial all the way down to the work that drives delivery."
"The dynamism of the application where you can modify it to fit your needs is valuable. For example, you can create fields, metrics, and measures on the fly. You don't have to be limited to what the out-of-the-box format would be. It allows you to generate fields, metrics, and reports off of that with relative ease."
"I appreciate the report that shows how utilized a person is set to be within the coming months. I use that feature a good bit."
"The interfaces for project management, portfolio management, and reporting services are always helpful."
"Being able to look at the data across team members, resources, projects and coming up with the algorithms and resources."
"Having information all together in one single source."
"Allows us to track all of a project's elements in one database."
"I appreciate the flexibility of the company more than any specific software feature. I have worked with SAP and other software providers before, and since it is still a smaller company, there is a very personal exchange. If we have a simple need that does not require coding, the company is willing to make changes overnight or even within hours. They are truly flexible and customer-oriented."
"Campfire Interactive has saved us time because the data that we are collecting is the same."
"The combination Campfire uses for the automotive sector, particularly the IHS forecast, offers unique predictive capabilities."
"I like the visibility of global opportunities. Prior to using Campfire Interactive, we would conduct Excel-based reporting and sales meetings with everyone bringing their information. Now, we can check it daily, look at the reports daily, and see what is coming into the system and what needs to be managed."

Cons

"The Latin American support could be better due to the language barrier."
"In the future, I would like to see integrated Agile features and better integration with Agile tools."
"The classic UI is very cumbersome. It can do everything but it's hard to use. It's easy to use once you understand it, but it's intimidating at first for somebody to see the solution."
"CA Communities need a lot of improvement."
"As far as a tool that communicates with resources, with individuals - what they're supposed to do next or what action items came out of what meeting - it's not really used that way. Probably I could envision a way that it would be used that way. Until it's as easy as sending an email, it probably won't be utilized by the resources in that manner."
"Reporting is not good as they keep on changing reporting environment."
"The only real improvement from my side - I'm spoiled by things like Trello, with the very easy user interface, things like Basecamp - it's very much a static software project. If I was to focus on something it would be that user interface; making that something that is a joy to use, instead of something that feels like data entry."
"I want to see integration for SMS functionality."
"Because we use a multitude of modules, some of the interactions from one module to the other are not as seamless or fluid. I would like to see some more fluidness from one module to the other."
"They occasionally became overwhelmed, leading to slowdowns due to the busy workforce."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For all the functionalities of the solution, the price is in the market range, since it is a product which offers governance issues and supports the digital transformation, which is where we will go in the next year."
"Better understanding of requirements and how it will be implemented (with number of licenses for a given budget) would help."
"Broadcom Clarity PPM costs us $500K, and that's only for the installation and kick off within the first year. For each succeeding year, it could cost $200K."
"Pricing is flexible, depending on the customer and the region."
"It is hard for them to say, "I have a person on my team who is going to be available, I am going to move that task to them". That requires a project management license, it doesn't require a team member license, so the licensing model does not sometimes support the way the business world is going."
"In recent times, I have been involved in the purchase of the license for this solution. However, the process of procurement changed and the option to buy individual licenses was no more available. The new subscription model was introduced, as a followed-up trend in the industry. The subscription costs put us in shock because it was double what we paid in the past as the yearly maintenance. We negotiated and the price was dropped. But this incident made me observe a lack of transparency from Broadcom in terms of licensing expenses. This isn't unique to Broadcom but seems to be a broader industry issue."
"We're also moving to the latest version for less than $20,000 for a major corporate system. It's just amazing."
"The subscription is not that expensive."
"Compared to everything else I have seen, it is very fair."
