Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is very easy to use. It has got what they call a toolkit, which is a no-code development environment. You can develop a whole solution with it because it is a complete platform. There is a lot of online material that can be used as a reference. You can help yourself while developing a solution. There are some prebuilt applications in the platform environment. You can very easily customize and integrate these applications. It also has flexible scaling of machine resources, which is really great.""By using Board we can do a lot of free analysis. We can change the layout of a table and even the end-user can change the layout of a table. And in Board 11.2 you can save the layout. That's very useful for the customer, it's a very good function.""The most valuable features are the reporting and the charts. The reporting functionality is handy for aggregation, when it comes to planning. That ability is fascinating and our users are very happy with it. The charts and the reporting allow our users to see all the data and to see how things are going this year or in the COVID situation. They're seeing everything. Instead of having to check data line by line, they're seeing it in a graph and they're seeing it in charts."

"The latest cloud version is more efficient for financial implementations.""This solution provides a more structured methodology for doing analysis than a tool like Excel. It creates a central database that keeps all information in one place.""Scalability isn't a problem for Hyperion.""It's very easy to use and the functionality is quite complete.""Scalability is one of this solution's big plus points.""The stability is fine and quite user friendly.""Hyperion is helpful for all our budget processes.""The most valuable features are those associated with modules and SP, IT in this space, planning, HFM, and PME."

Cons
"What could be better is the manual... nowadays, most people use a web client, but on the Board manual website, a lot of the information is only about the Windows client. If they could update that, it would be helpful.""It can have more functionality for narrative reporting. They should also improve their training courses, which are currently very lightweight. When you get into more complex things, it is quite difficult to figure out what you're supposed to do, and you have to look at a lot of videos before you actually understand, which is a bit frustrating. Their training can be more comprehensive.""Some of our users are still using an MS Office add-in for Excel for certain calculations, and when they export from Board, some of the values, some of the totals and column names, are not coming through into Excel."

"The forecasting of values could be simplified in this solution.""We are still having some issues with the ASO Cube. It can take a long time to clear the data in the ASO Cube compared to BSO data-clearing operations. We don't have a specific calculation in the ASO, and we only have these aggregate options on the ASO side. If we need calculations, we have to calculate them in the BSO and pass the data to the ASO Cube for the reporting. That's one of the drawbacks. Oracle could also improve on the data logging side as well.""I have a problem with Hyperion when I need to log some changes in the budget. It's hard to know who made which changes in the budget.""This solution's stability is a little problematic.""I would love more comment capabilities so that you could put in little notes, cheat notes.""I would like to see more integrations with third-party vendors such as BigSense and SAP. I'm looking forward to seeing more interface-related content.""Hyperion has much room for improvement, especially disaster recovery. You don't have the option to choose the proper disaster recovery method. We have Hyperion and an SQL server on the backend. We have active solutions for the backend database server, which aren't working for our people. They've asked us to remove the high availability to increase application performance.""The level of complexity of the implementation is always a challenge."

  • "As Oracle's pricing is on the higher end, most businesses prefer to have their own private cloud."

  • "To get a full license, which gives you access to most of the different Hyperion programs, it costs $2000 to $2500 a month."
