We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I have worked with DB2's great features in the last five years. The IDAA feature transformed the vision of warehousing, business analytics, and big data at my bank. Besides the mainframe, I saw that this solution was evolutionary. It gives real-time information.""BMC Data Management improved our data recovery process by simplifying it."

"We can extract data at a table level, extract data at the ETL level, and we can extract data at an ODP level.""Data Services' best features are its robustness and plug-and-play integration with other SAP applications.""The fact that it's built on SQL, it makes it easy to write code. The database and the connection are quite smooth.""Its integration capabilities and the data migration capabilities are the most valuable. It is very good for SAP and non-SAP tools. It has very good integration with SAP, but it also has the capabilities to connect to other systems. We find it very helpful and stable.""It is a powerful product with a broad range of features.""The feature of SAP Data Services has enhanced our company's business processes because we are able to run around 800 jobs in areas like data extraction and transaction objects.""The solution is easy to use since it's a graphical tool. It also requires only low-level coding.""The reporting on the data, even from third-party software, is very good."

Cons
"One area for improvement with this product could be in providing clearer guidance and tools for disaster recovery planning and execution.""DB2 is a hard tool to grasp. It's hard for users to learn how to use it. It's not easy to see how it works."

"The solution could improve the overall features. There is a lot that can be done in the solution, therefor there are areas where it can improve. Additionally, there is a need to make it easier for one to create connections to other non-SAP systems. The flexibility to connect to other non-SAP systems is needed.""There should be some kind of enhancement that can be done on the admin side of certain sites where we can assign the roles and responsibilities. We should be able to control who is using the tool and how.""It's an ETL that is very good with relational databases but not as good with files and semi-structured files.""The initial setup is complex.""Scheduling of jobs in the sequence is not available. It's a very tedious process to do that particular task. If there was a tool to schedule in the sequence that would be extremely helpful.""The description of error messages isn't extensive, although they point to the problem. With other solutions, like Talend, I was able to use the debugger to get directly to the problem, but with SAP Data Services the debugger is not working. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the version specifically, but I'm using it in an enterprise environment and I can't do an upgrade.""It will work fine only in an SAP environment. It could be said that the integration with other vendors could be better.""I want some more business intelligence applications. People need to know more and more about data, including the transformation rules, etc. Informatica is a better product for data cataloging. SAP should update the data catalog."
