Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Stable but bad technical support, and an out of date database
We primarily use the solution to protect our business The solution protects us so that we have regular security from attacks. It prevents disasters from happening on our system. The endpoint protection is the solution's most valuable feature. The database needs improvement. It needs to be…

I have no idea if I use some automation functions. I can't find any disadvantages; maybe that is because many companies haven't used it. I would prefer to see some features such as AI in antivirus solutions. I appreciate reporting, but it could be better with monthly reporting or auto-generated monthly reports.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"On a scale from one to ten, I would rate Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks a nine."
"Its ability to react to cyber data attacks is awesome. That is pretty much the use of it. What blows your mind is the ability to access your assets remotely and see what is actually going on with them. You can not only see them in a console. You can also react very rapidly to your assets that are compromised."
"We think that this product will help us grow, as it meets our needs currently and we can grow with it over time."
"The most valuable aspect of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks for me is its integration with AI detection, where we get to know the behavioral detection based on users, traffic patterns, and different services that we consume."
"It is a simple platform to use."
"But overall, when we speak about security and protection, they are one of the top providers."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks's ability to block sophisticated threats in real time is quite good and is on par with SentinelOne's."
"One of the main benefits of the solution is its intelligence to correlate the events into an incident."
"The solution protects us so that we have regular security from attacks."
"The endpoint protection is the solution's most valuable feature."
"The solution offers a ransomware vaccine which has been very beneficial to our organization."
"The solution has exchange protection. It has a content control, device control, a firewall, and anti-malware as well. They are all quite valuable features for us."
"I like the simplicity of this solution and the fact that it saves us time. The deployment was really straightforward and useful and I am impressed by the anti-virus endpoint detection and response offered by this solution."
"I like the simplicity of this solution and the fact that it saves us time."
"The detection capabilities for malicious activities are effective."
"WatchGuard is commendable for its work on threats."
"Technical support has always been top-notch when you can get through."
"The product's most valuable features are the zero-trust application service and its capability to detect threats and attacks."
"The most valuable features of Panda Security Adaptive Defense are the useful hardware information it provides, light on resources, controllable from the console, remote scan functionality, and the blocking of a lot of URL malware."
"Reduced the number of malware/virus issue encounters and dashboard alerts providing better visibility."
"It is easy to manage."
"The product so far has been good at protecting us. We haven't faced a breach."

Cons

"I would like to see them include NDR (Network Detection Response). Then it would work well with SIEM Response."
"It's not an ideal choice for smaller businesses, as you need a minimum of 200 endpoints to even use the solution at all."
"As an improvement, I would like to see enhanced connection speeds."
"The GUI could be improved. It's a little bit cumbersome. It could be more user-friendly."
"Based on our experience so far, its implementation is quite complex."
"I have seen lagging with Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks. There was one time when we faced a threat actor trying to gain access to our system. When our team utilized the tool, we were all on the same dashboard and we faced a lag issue at that time of around five minutes, which was quite significant."
"There are some third-party solutions that are difficult to integrate with, which is something that can be improved."
"The solution should force customers to integrate with network traffic to see the full benefits of XDR."
"Customer service needs a lot of improvement. They never replied or responded to our queries over the three years we've used it."
"There needs to be better integration with the environment. Especially, for the active directory and also for keeping up with the changes from Microsoft. We use a lot of Microsoft OS. I have noted that sometimes they lag behind Microsoft updates. For example, when with Windows 10. I had some issues with deploying to Windows 10 because the solution was behind in updating their own services to match the Microsoft release."
"The database needs improvement. It needs to be updated quite a bit."
"There are blurred lines between anti-virus and endpoint detection so I would say it can be confusing when you are considering buying this program. I would like to see that being explained better to the customer."
"I would like to see better data protection, for instance using fingerprints to log in."
"Panda Security Adaptive Defense claims that it uninstalls any third-party antivirus that was previously on your computer, but that has not been the case."
"I'd like them to offer a better way to scan the hardware to detect whether they are valid."
"For some urgent updates, I don't like the need for the tool to be frequently restarted."
"Panda Security Adaptive Defense can improve by including the intrusion and prevention system not only on their most expensive platform."
"I think there was a little complexity in deployment when I actually deployed WatchGuard EPDR."
"Panda Security Adaptive Defense’s stability could be improved."
"Improvements could be made in terms of how the reporting is structured."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution has one subscription for endpoint protection and one subscription for detection and response. The two licenses combined give you the BRO version."
"The pricing is a little bit on the expensive side."
"The pricing is a little high. It is per user per year."
"The cost depends on your chosen license type, like Pro or other licenses."
"It is cost-effective compared to similar solutions. It fits for the small businesses through to the big businesses."
"Our customers have expressed that the price is high."
"Traps pays for itself within the first 16 months of a three-year subscription. This is attributed to OPEX savings, as security teams spent less time trying to identify and isolate malware for analysis as a result of a reduction in malware incidents, false positives, and breach avoidance."
"When we first bought it, it was a bit expensive, but it was worth it. The licensing was straightforward."
"There's a yearly cost for licensing. For us, that comes to $1,400. There are no additional costs beyond the license itself."
"The licensing is subscription-based and priced well compared to other endpoint security solutions."
"Our licensing fee is 1M Euro per month, so it is about 80 Euro's per user."
"There is a license needed to use this solution and it is approximately $30 annually."
"The solution's pricing is better compared to other products."
"The price is excellent."
"The licensing costs are not too high. We pay about 20 Euros a year. It's a reasonable amount to pay."
"The product is available at a high price."
"I don't think Panda's license is too expensive, but they're charging more than it's worth. It's a yearly license. For 1,000 endpoints, it's around $18,000."
