We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution has extensive documentation and a very active community.""The most valuable features are the special plugins such as SAP HANA databases, Microsoft SQL, and various types of virtualization.""It brought many advantages - such as the learning curve being very light.""It works great and it provides you with several standard tools to restore your backup, even after a big failure.""It is easy to scale Bacula Enterprise even if your system is growing tremendously in data and servers.""It can be used in virtually any environment we have onsite.""Bacula is pretty stable."

"The product’s most valuable feature is cloning.""What is very handy for our clients is the consolidated view. They have a dashboard with everything, through a single pane of glass. This is what they really need because, within seconds, they can have a good overview and see if there are any errors or any issues.""The reporting feature has been particularly beneficial to upper management... When you do manual backups, you do not get the benefit of seeing successes and failures and how often you have to do restores. With SnapCenter, you get all of that.""It has very fast backup and can handle a huge amount of data. It also enables really fast recovery.""The centralized GUI is the best feature, that there is only one webpage where we can see the states of all the backup jobs. We can see all the tasks that are running and we can quickly see if one fails; if they are running or have any issues. We have all that in one place.""It's all together managing both storage and backup, which makes it easier for troubleshooting issues and the automation part of it""Most banks and financial institutions use the solution.""Restoring and cloning are easy to do."

Cons
"A more user-friendly interface (GUI) can be developed.""The initial setup could be a bit easier.""Easier setup and configuration, perhaps including a GUI, would be an improvement.""We are looking for a unique interface that can rule both enterprise and open source editions. Such a thing does not yet exist.""We would like to see an improvement in the functionality of the GUI.""Bacula needs a graphical user interface because, for administrators, the command-line interface is okay, but for the average user it is not very easy.""It could improve its interface or offer a specific screen for the manager of the company."

"I feel a little bit that during the whole process of putting this software into production we were like a beta program. It was full of bugs... For example, we had a problem with truncating our Exchange log files... It has improved over time.""We have hundreds of servers and systems and hundreds of customers and they're separated in a multi-tenancy way in NetApp SVM. Right now, the problem is that it always scan all SVMs. If I backup Customer A, it scans all SVMs, or tries to scan all SVMs, if there is a backup relationship on the storage. But it doesn't have the permissions, so we run into timeouts or the backup just takes too long. They're fixing that in the upcoming release...""I'm waiting for SnapCenter for hybrid solutions. Right now, we only have SnapManager for hybrid. I need agents for that. People are looking to install SnapCenter in a SQL environment, but where they're running SQL on Hyper-V and using virtual files. Currently, we don't have support for hybrid.""We would like to see more granular repording and reporting in bigger sets available in SnapCenter.""There is one area that needs improvement and that's in the alerting. When you set up your SMTP alerts, it only has - and I don't understand why - the ability to send an anonymous SMTP. It doesn't do basic authentication, which frustrated me for a while until I figured out that I'm not missing something. It's just not there.""What I did witness lately are issues with some Microsoft KBs, the updates. But it happened only once, and not on a major platform, it was on a small one.""The tool could be faster.""If it was possible to create backups on non-NetApp storage, that would be helpful."
