During a global outage that affected our operations, there was no apology or in-depth follow-up from Microsoft.
Microsoft support could be improved as it rates only a five out of ten, with slow response times and a preference for email over phone communication even in severity B cases.
We primarily rely on our Cloud Support Partner for support.

Room For Improvement

Azure Site Recovery needs better integration, deployment, stability, security, and support, with improved logging, pricing, and platform compatibility.
N2W needs UI updates, improved integration, disaster recovery, multicloud support, and user-friendly features for enhanced backup management.
If their agent version is mismatched and the health status is critical, you will not be able to perform your Azure Site Recovery.
There is room for improvement in the release of patches, such as ensuring they are properly managed to avoid outages.
Currently, Azure Site Recovery does not support shared disk options.
Improved disaster recovery options and expanded multicloud support are two areas where N2WS has already made significant advancements in the latest version.
I would like to see native support for more AWS services beyond EC2 and EBS, such as full coverage of RDS, DynamoDB, and Redshift.
This would help those who are not familiar with Infrastructure as Code to back up and restore these services without the overhead of understanding IaC configuration.

Setup Cost

Azure Site Recovery offers cost-effective DR solutions despite complex billing, with average monthly site-to-site replication costs at $225.
N2W provides easy AWS Marketplace purchasing with flexible pricing and tiered licensing, supporting diverse needs without extra fees.
It was not the expensive part of our costs.
A major advantage is that you do not want to pay any more for huge costs to build a DR site.
The pricing of Azure Site Recovery is around a four out of ten, being somewhat cost-effective.
Pricing can increase as backup volumes grow, so it is important to balance the level of protection with cost-optimization strategies such as tiering snapshots to S3 or Glacier.
I believe N2WS offers a highly competitive pricing model, delivering excellent value.
Not all features are available in the cheaper plans.

Azure Site Recovery is praised for seamless failover, ease of use, compatibility, but may be costly for smaller clients.
N2W offers efficient backup, rapid recovery, cost optimization, and ransomware protection, ensuring business continuity for critical AWS services.
Its time-saving aspects allow us to write PowerShell scripts to automate failover processes.
Azure provides a 99.99% SLA for their uptime, ensuring that even during outages due to patch releases, there is no data loss, merely hindered accessibility.
The most valuable features of Azure Site Recovery are its ease of use and speed of recovery.
Lifecycle management and automated transitions to lower-cost storage tiers have been instrumental in optimizing costs while meeting compliance and retention requirements.
We had a ransomware event in 2023, and we were able to recover every machine with minimal effort.
The most valuable features are EC2 and RDS backups, as well as VPC capture.

The time-saving aspects allow us to write PowerShell scripts to automate failover processes
First of all, we initially faced a challenge as Azure Site Recovery was not supporting shared disk options on SQL clusters with VMs, which are important for a Windows cluster mode. Additionally, the setup is quite easy, only requiring the creation of a vault. Its time-saving aspects allow us to write PowerShell scripts to automate failover processes.

Backup process and monitoring become simple and effective while seamless instance recovery and cost optimization ensure business continuity
Policy creation is straightforward, with automatic backups of new resources enabled through tagging. Instance recovery is seamless, whether within the same VPC or across different VPCs. File-level restores are intuitive and easy to manage, while full VPC backups provide critical protection and peace of mind in the event of a disaster. In addition, lifecycle management and automated transitions to lower-cost storage tiers have been instrumental in optimizing costs while meeting compliance and retention requirements. The ability to create immutable backups further strengthens our business continuity strategy by ensuring an additional layer of protection against accidental or malicious data loss.
