BMC TrueSight and AWS Auto Scaling compete in the IT infrastructure management category. AWS Auto Scaling has the upper hand in automation and scalability, which are critical in dynamic environments, while BMC TrueSight is strong in event management and monitoring.
Features: BMC TrueSight integrates event management into a single console, offering proactive monitoring and root-cause analysis. It provides a holistic view of the IT infrastructure. AWS Auto Scaling automatically adjusts resources based on demands and minimizes manual interventions. It efficiently handles traffic and workload, ensuring seamless performance.
Room for Improvement: BMC TrueSight needs enhancements in application performance and cloud monitoring, and its complexity requires significant infrastructure. Reporting and automation could be improved. AWS Auto Scaling's documentation, setup complexity, and security features have room for enhancement. Pricing and workload configuration flexibility are also areas for improvement.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: BMC TrueSight is complex due to infrastructure needs for on-premises deployment. Customer support is mixed, with varying responsiveness. AWS Auto Scaling benefits from cloud deployment simplicity, though setup can be intricate. The integration with existing AWS services is straightforward.
Pricing and ROI: BMC TrueSight's pricing is considered high, with a model based on endpoints and features. It offers ROI through reduced operation costs, though initial expenses are substantial. AWS Auto Scaling’s pay-per-use model means costs vary with usage. Despite being expensive, its scalability and efficiency contribute to good ROI when effectively utilized.
AWS support is very good.
I would rate their technical support a nine out of ten.
Scalability is impressive, as it allowed us to go from 1,000 to 10,000 active users within a week during a traffic spike.
This complexity led me to migrate to CloudFormation, which simplifies the deployment process.
If you could add more training on how to use it correctly and on the functions that I haven't used before or some people have not really used before, that would help.
It requires a downtime before deploying the Auto Scaling group.
There are some complexities with deployment that could be improved in BMC TrueSight.
The pricing of Auto Scaling is medium range, neither high nor low.
BMC TrueSight licensing costs are on the more expensive side.
During peak traffic times, the Auto Scaling group can be deployed to ensure that the client works well, and the traffic remains average.
The automation aspect where you can automate it to whatever you want is what I value the most about Auto Scaling.
Its automatic scaling capabilities are very useful.
Automated root cause analysis and predictive capabilities are powerful features that assist in resource utilization and capacity planning.

AWS Auto Scaling monitors your applications and automatically adjusts capacity to maintain steady, predictable performance at the lowest possible cost. Using AWS Auto Scaling, it’s easy to setup application scaling for multiple resources across multiple services in minutes. The service provides a simple, powerful user interface that lets you build scaling plans for resources including Amazon EC2 instances and Spot Fleets, Amazon ECS tasks, Amazon DynamoDB tables and indexes, and Amazon Aurora Replicas. AWS Auto Scaling makes scaling simple with recommendations that allow you to optimize performance, costs, or balance between them. If you’re already using Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling to dynamically scale your Amazon EC2 instances, you can now combine it with AWS Auto Scaling to scale additional resources for other AWS services. With AWS Auto Scaling, your applications always have the right resources at the right time.
