Ease of creating APIs with ongoing updates needed for automation
AWS has made it easy for developers like me to create and manage GraphQL APIs. The ease of use is a main advantage, allowing even beginners to start from scratch and learn through AppSync. Before AWS, developing and managing APIs was quite complex. AWS provided AppSync, which assists developers and startup founders. Startups blooming everywhere benefit from this service, welcoming those who lack prior knowledge. When working on AWS, I notice that Amazon regularly implements new features. For instance, with the Lambda service, AWS is transitioning from an old editor to a new one. Similarly, AppSync frequently introduces updates and changes. This trend is making the user interface more accessible, even for individuals without a technical background. Additionally, the cost is attractive, as AWS operates on a pay-as-you-go basis. These factors make AppSync both easy to use and cost-effective.

Transforms data efficiently and navigates licensing challenges with ease
The transition between version 12 and version 13 presents some challenges. While version 12 had approximately 10 features, version 13 includes around 200 features with cloud platform compatibility. The learning curve for developers moving from version 12 to 13 could be smoother. When using new components, better context explanations would be beneficial. In version 13, accessing new features requires connecting through a web browser, which can be challenging to understand. The explanation of new features could be more user-friendly.

"Support for multiple data sources and formats is a fantastic feature."
"We always have ROI when we use IBM products."
"Because it has a graphical developer interface, we can quickly develop solutions that are connecting to anything on the cloud, without having to build those connectors ourselves."
"I would say that the most valuable feature is the array of connectors and integration tools."
"When using IBM stacks, IBM App Connect is suitable and integrates well with other IBM products like WebSphere."
"I recommend IBM App Connect Enterprise to everyone."
"IBM App Connect definitely saves a lot of time, approximately 50 to 60%, and based on the time savings, we can reduce the number of employees needed and save money on reduced resources."
"One of the most beneficial features is the ability to handle multiple communication technologies, like integrating Kafka flows, which is helpful as other teams heavily use it. Regarding error handling, I initially wrote most of the handling myself. While built-in features for error handling are built-in, it largely depends on the developer. We use a custom solution that catches all exceptions, logs them in a database, and replays them as needed. It has been effective for us for over twenty years."
"It's a powerful application for collaboration. It has many features for customization and integration."

Cons

"In AppSync, assigning roles and permissions to APIs is necessary for accessing other AWS services. Automating this task when creating APIs would be beneficial."
"Moving to other clouds is impossible without significantly rearchitecting your applications."

"IBM App Connect occasionally crashes for various reasons, requiring problem-solving intervention."
"The addition of string functionality would be a benefit, particularly in the ESQL space that IBM already uses internally."
"More connectors could be available for the product as some of the third-party software doesn't have default connectors."

"IBM App Connect should improve security features."
"The installation of containers could be simplified, as it currently requires a senior-level installer."
"Updates are constantly delayed and that is something IBM could improve."
"Finding developers for the product is difficult since it is a niche solution. I know the OpenShift environment is running well for the microservice environment. We had some issues with the other environment we tried to implement. It can be easily implemented internally, but we have some problems in practice."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing fees are paid on a monthly basis, and it is a pay-as-you-go model."
"Initially, App Connect was quite expensive because the cost was based on the number of processors we used. However, it's now based on containers, which means we can be more specific about our consumption and get a better price."
"The solution's pricing isn't cheap, but you can get good discounts based on your competitive deal."
