Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Has a free version, is secure and reliable
I'm a consultant. I recommend free Avast, then ESET. If they want to be more secure, you can go to ESET, the bigger license. If you want to have a cheap license, Avast is good. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. I do prefer ESET, however. Yet I would recommend either product as they are both pretty good.

A cost-effective security solution for endpoint protection
The initial setup is complex. It is rare to see an effective endpoint protection system that does not require some effort. It is neither on the cloud nor on-premises. You deploy it on every endpoint or server, irrespective of perimeter. You must use a deployment tool unless you prefer to do it manually on every endpoint or server. We used an automation tool to deploy it. Since we had MSI with us. We had to verify that everything worked, but it didn't take more than two weeks for 1000 endpoints.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"But overall, when we speak about security and protection, they are one of the top providers."
"It has a higher cost than other solutions, like CrowdStrike or Microsoft’s EDR tools, but it reduces the cost of our operations because it’s a new generation antivirus tool."
"The good thing about the product is that it's always scanning."
"It'll not slow down your system when compared to others."
"I like the centralized console and the predictive analysis it does of malware. It is very stable and also scalable."
"We have found in our test Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks to be a very good tool."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks should be a stable solution."
"The dashboard is customizable."
"The ease of deployment and the command center that they have are the most valuable. It is basically self-monitoring. It doesn't require that much tinkering after you deploy or install."
"Avast as a product is as easy as it gets - everything is outlined and transparent in terms of licensing."
"The solution is easy to use."
"The performance is good compared to other products that slow down the laptop, post-installation."
"It has increased productivity. IT threats are kept at a minimum because of this product."
"Avast Business Endpoint Protection's best feature is its user-friendliness."
"Previously, we were working with Norton, and we switched from Norton to Avast because we believe Avast is far superior and a better solution, especially for PC management."
"It warns you if there is a threat and it's perfect because it runs in the background and doesn't interfere with anything."
"First of all, it does the job. It prevents harm to the operating system. Also, the visibility it gives to the user and to the administrator is very good."
"This product really is the best solution for this security issue."
"Nyotron protects your users and does not acquire any threat intelligence."

Cons

"There's an overall lack of features."
"The GUI could be improved. It's a little bit cumbersome. It could be more user-friendly."
"They have the worst support, as a company, that I have ever worked with, as they are difficult to get a hold of and keep on the phone. They don't know what they are talking about when you get them on the phone. They don't like to respond to messages when you send them to them. They like to "research problems" for weeks on end, then pass you off to somebody else."
"Limited remote connection."
"We have found that there are times Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks does not detect some of the viruses, we have to use another protection solution called Kaspersky."
"It takes time to scan the servers and devices."
"It's very time-consuming to log support issues and the people that answer the tickets aren't very knowledgeable."
"The product's pricing could be better."
"It reduces network and bandwidth speed."
"I would like to see better protection such as prevention from hacker attacks and fake websites."
"The accuracy of the scanner could be improved. Sometimes, it can turn a good file into a suspicious file."
"It could download faster during deployment."
"The solution could improve by providing more security."
"It reduces network and bandwidth speed."
"Where I have faced a challenge is on the reporting. I would like to see something that provides information regarding the next month or quarter, in terms of reporting."
"The accuracy of the scanner could be improved."
"The solution should be available on Linux and other platforms, including mobile platforms such as Android and iOS."
"The main feature that is missing is to have the same solution on servers. Currently it's only protecting the client side, not the server. If they would add the server in the same solution, that would be great."
"The main feature that is missing is to have the same solution on servers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive. It's pricing is on a yearly-basis."
"Cortex XDR’s pricing is very reasonable."
"Licensing for Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR can be costly, especially when it comes to a hundred users. A license is required for each user, and the subscription must be renewed on a yearly basis."
"The pricing is a little bit on the expensive side."
"It has reasonable pricing for the use cases it provides to the company."
"Our customers have expressed that the price is high."
"I did PoCs on products called Cylance and CrowdStrike. Although, I consider these products and they were also good, when it come to cost and budgetary factors, Traps has been proven to be better than the other two products. It is quite cost-effective and delivers all the entire solution which we require."
"Every customer has to pay for a license because it doesn't work with what you get from a managed services provider."
"I am using the free version of Avast."
"It is $75 per license for a year. There are no additional costs."
"If you become a partner, you will receive the wholesale price."
"There are no costs other than licensing."
"I am using the free version."
"We are on a monthly subscription for Avast Business Endpoint Protection."
