Faced deployment successfully but configuration complexity needs to be reduced
I think the layout is a bit complicated. There are so many different layers to set up, and it is very easy to miss out or make configuration mistakes because they are hierarchical. You need to be very careful about which one has been in use. Aruba ClearPass is also complicated as well. If Aruba could combine all of their products together, it would be great to have a single pane of glass. Currently, the Aruba sensor does not work together with other products. There is no single pane of glass for location configuration, so you need to log into different websites to check the user experience.

Great for hospitals as the main hospital is usually the hub of many smaller buildings and also the tallest building in the neighborhood.
Motorola has solid RF experience for longer than any other vendor These are great for hospitals as the main hospital is usually the hub of many smaller buildings and also the tallest building in the neighborhood. This is an ideal scenario for P2P or PTMP wireless. The documentation is lacking…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is reliability."
"There is a clustering feature, so the APs immediately switch back to the next available controller. The users will not notice any impact and will feel connected to the network. They will not notice any disconnection."
"The most valuable feature of Aruba Networks Wireless WAN is centralized management capability. You don't have to have wireless LAN controllers at every location."
"I'd recommend anybody looking at implementing Aruba Wireless to go for it - it's a really, very good product."
"We don't know this product very well yet, but what we have used so far and what we like are user control, bandwidth, and access."
"Its most valuable feature is the ease of use."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"The solution works well and it does what we need it to do."
"The reliability has to do with how often an RF link will go down, and this almost never happens in my experience with Motorola outdoor wireless."

Cons

"The solution currently has a Windows update problem."
"The initial setup has a lot of options, which makes it very versatile yet very complicated to install. There should be two modes: a basic mode and then a more advanced mode to help make implementation easier. Most of the time, if it's a small installation, you don't need the complexity. You shouldn't need higher expertise in order to install a couple of access points in a single place."
"The integration should be better."
"It works. We don't look at it any deeper than that and don't find any features ar missing."
"Its technical support service could be better."
"The integration, pricing, and configuration could always be improved upon."
"They have to work on their Aruba Central cloud platform. There are still some glitches such as not showing proper user details. When we removed the AP from the Aruba Central cloud, it showed up as being connected to Aruba Central. They need to fix these issues."
"Aruba Networks Wireless WAN could improve the solution availability. The selection of mounting hardware for the various radios is limited and poor. Often, you have to create and manufacture your own mounting hardware in certain situations."
"The documentation is lacking and they need to work on it. Motorola seems to have less documentation than competitors and less of it readily available online."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the product's price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is the lowest ,and ten is the highest."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"The price of Aruba Networks Wireless WAN is less expensive than Ruckus and Cisco."
"On a scale f one to ten, where one point is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the pricing as eight. Cloud licenses are quite expensive."
"The product's price is within range since it has a lower price."
"That's really subject to the type of environment you're deploying. If you're doing a full controller model with 200 APs, the initial deployment could be 150 grand. Maintaining that or maintaining support for that per year could be something like 10 to 15 grand per year. In the cloud sense, the cloud is by the number of APs. So, everything is readily available."
"The price of this solution is better than some other vendors."
"It is more affordable than Cisco."
