Troubleshooting obstacles occur but technical support excels
My general opinion on Aruba Airwave is that it's acceptable, but it's not ideal because we are accustomed to Cisco. We didn't use Aruba much, but once you set it up, you probably don't need to worry about it too much. The version we are using is quite old now, probably around version four. I can't remember the version exactly because a lot of the products require Aruba Central, but we haven't used Aruba Central yet. I face challenges with Aruba Airwave, particularly with troubleshooting. When someone has a problem, we try troubleshooting, but the end-to-end users' messages show some details that are not always up-to-date, and sometimes the information from the GUI is not exactly aligned with what's on the website. If Aruba Airwave can apply AI capabilities, that would be even more perfect. I'd appreciate integration with Aruba Central; it would be great if they could incorporate it into Airwave.

Dynamic discovery and effective network topology make IT monitoring valuable
The solution enables dynamic discovery and incorporates a powerful configuration management database, CMDB, along with a strong correlation engine. It covers the entire span of the infrastructure, including servers and network operations. It also adapts well to different environments, showing network topology effectively, making the network monitoring tool quite valuable.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I think everybody needs this solution; it helps a lot with technical troubleshooting and no matter what end products you have, Airwave is a good solution for everybody."
"The Clarity feature makes it easy to use and understand what is going on with your network in a nice dashboard."
"The solution's most valuable features are its usage, bandwidth existence, device capacity, and utilization."
"It has improved my organization by increasing troubleshooting opportunities which makes things more efficient."
"We are a solution provider and Aruba Airwave is one of the products that we implement for our customers, and most of our customers use this product to manage and monitor their networks."
"AirWave definitely helps us troubleshoot and get to the root cause of the issues. It gives you an excellent indication of what's going on within your network at different locations. You can get to the area, take a look at the AirWave analysis, and make informed decisions."
"The powerful features we can put forward in Aruba Airwave are clarity, report creation, and VisualRF."
"Aruba Airwave provides a robust solution for monitoring and configuring Wi-Fi networks."
"When it comes to customization, Micro Focus is more mature than its competitors."
"The solution enables dynamic discovery and incorporates a powerful configuration management database, CMDB, along with a strong correlation engine."
"We can detect non-compliant devices and automate remediation actions to cover the gap in the configuration standards."

Cons

"I would try to integrate more products from different vendors in future releases. Because that's really good features that Aruba Airway has, but it's so limited."
"Stability of GUI Stability of instant access point management"
"The tool's expensive nature is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"We encounter delayed ETAs in the manufacturing of hardware."
"When attempting to copy a floor plan, it does not copy well, so I often have to redraw the walls. It's somewhat annoying since other Wi-Fi design software we use is easier for drawing walls and including floor plans."
"We sometimes have problems with troubleshooting between the GUI and the CLI manipulation."
"I would like to see is “AAS”. Not only Aruba APs with central, but NAC/ClearPass, AirWave, and everything licensed as a Service."
"I want a management solution to manage and monitor everything from a single dashboard. This is not there with Airwave."
"The user interface is outdated and needs improvement, especially for service and topology maps."
"Micro Focus Network Management doesn't support end-to-end monitoring of cloud infrastructure. Micro Focus might have different cloud solutions for cloud automation and hybrid cloud management. There are a lot of products that also support automation. That is different, but it should monitor the cloud from an IT operations management perspective."
"Micro Focus Network Management doesn't support end-to-end monitoring of cloud infrastructure."
"It may need a more customizable UI."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the product’s pricing a five out of ten."
"The cost is perfect because the devices have a lifetime warranty, and the licensing is good as well."
"It is an expensive solution."
"The tool is expensive. If one is bad or expensive, and ten is very good or cheap, I rate the product's price as a six."
"AirWave is a very expensive solution. If you implement it in a wide range network, it will cost a lot. There is no option to sell it outside that price segment, which is a problem."
"This product is not expensive."
"The licensing cost for Aruba Airwave increased from $72 to $210 within a few months. It would be better if the pricing for the solution were cheaper."
"The licensing is on an yearly basis."
"Micro Focus' price is on the higher side, but there are other products like CA products and IBM that are more expensive. At the same time, you have to compare the maturity level of the solutions."
