Unified security and sd-wan have improved uptime and cut wan costs for multi-site branches
Users report stability issues in certain versions, which requires regular updates. Real-world attacks have also highlighted the need for urgent patching of vulnerabilities.Fortinet FortiGate, while a powerful and feature-rich web firewall, could improve in areas like firmware stability, documentation, and ease of use. The learning curve can be steep for some users. For beginners, support quality can vary, and frequent updates with occasional vulnerabilities call for careful patch management. However, once Fortinet FortiGate is configured, it remains highly reliable and efficient. Customer support needs improvement, as I find it very slow, with reports from other users reflecting that customer support is inadequate.

Perimeter security has reduced botnet attacks and now needs better interface and logging
The best features Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall offers are its ability to push a lot of traffic along with bandwidth management and traffic policy. Bandwidth management and traffic policy help my organization by keeping our internet subscription low. Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall has positively impacted my organization by reducing botnet attacks. Immediately after I installed the firewall, it stopped a few botnet attacks.

Has improved threat prevention and protection but presents deployment and licensing challenges
The best features Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) offers are AI-powered threat prevention, zero-day protection, unified management, and scalability. These features have helped me in my daily work or my organization by allowing us, as a SAAS company operating across AWS, Azure, and handling external partner access or a multi-tenant model, to preemptively stop unknown attacks, which is critical. Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) has positively impacted my organization as it is a high-end enterprise grade firewall. I have noticed that it is very good if your SAAS business has high traffic volume, serious threat prevention requirements, and you are ready for the investment.

Pros

"The most valuable feature of this solution is the analytics."
"It's comprehensive and time-saving. It covers several areas regarding security."
"Some of the key features of the solution is that it has good reporting, you can receive many details from the connection, for example, clients and website information."
"The threat prevention is the solution's most valuable aspect."
"On a scale of one to ten, I rate this solution 10 out of 10."
"The license management is very valuable. You can get a new license each year, or you can enroll every two to four years. You can get the logs, and you will get the information on the risk in your network and the entire organization. With this information, you can take action on your actives, computers, or devices. You can bring your own device as an SSE."
"Better visibility into traffic patterns Lightening fast troubleshooting and reduced management complexity overall."
"It is complemented by other equipment, such as the Fortinet switch, and it is integrated with other tools that help to prevent cyberattacks, including a web filter, IPS, and application control."
"Phish Blocker is a valuable feature."
"The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall has positively impacted my organization by reducing botnet attacks."
"The best features Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) offers are AI-powered threat prevention, zero-day protection, unified management, and scalability, which have helped me in my daily work or my organization by allowing us, as a SAAS company operating across AWS, Azure, and handling external partner access or a multi-tenant model, to preemptively stop unknown attacks, which is critical."
"The QoS blade is very good for controlling traffic such as Windows patches, mail traffic and other stuff."
"The most valuable features are application control, regulation, and threat prevention."
"Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) has positively impacted our organization by making our networks significantly safer, giving us much stronger control over our network, and reducing the number of security incidents we have to deal with."
"The most valuable feature is the Check Point Management Server, especially version R.80 onward, where we can manage endpoint security, cloud security, and email security from a single management server, making this a very unique and easy solution to use in the market now."
"Check Point is good, it has a lot of features which will support a lot of things in your organization, and the dashboard is quite good."
"One of the most valuable features is performance improvement, wherewith ClusterXL and CoreXL, you can improve performance."
"We are delighted with the powerful management console and diagnostic tools."

Cons

"The security features are good but I'd like to see additional security options."
"The solution could be improved by addressing limited local reporting. It requires obtaining the FortiAnalyzer for proper visibility because you can't do much from a reporting perspective with just the firewall alone."
"To the best of my knowledge, Fortinet does not have a CASB solution and Fortinet does not have a Zero trust solution."
"The interface and product support could use improvement."
"Overall it is not scalable."
"One of the problems I was having was with user mapping, and it is an issue for which I have escalated tickets with Fortinet support."
"I prefer Palo Alto over Fortinet FortiGate. Its IPS engine is not better than the Palo Alto version. The monitoring tool needs improvement, and the syslog configuration needs enhancement."
"There are some issues with the scalability of Fortinet FortiGate. Certain products and models need to be scalable, but they're not."
"The documentation is not clear."
"Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall can be improved, particularly the user interface, which is not very good, and also the logs, which are not very good."
"The product has a lot to improve in the area of policy implementation."
"Check Point should provide the feature of exporting group data with address groups, so when I export address books, only the group name is visible in the Excel file. Instead, it should show the actual members of the groups getting exported."
"Technical support could be improved. It's hit or miss in terms of the level of service and getting the answers you need."
"With the increase of volume of traffic, the required resource/hardware to properly run goes up. Therefore, the hardware engineering to architecture flow has to be more efficient."
"The only reasons we are looking at other solutions are price and integration."
"There are some GUI features in Check Point's SmartConsole that are still from the old versions and are in separate/duplicated interfaces; it would be most useful if it is integrated and not on different menus."
"Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) can improve its perspective on VPN, as the VPN configuration is tedious compared to other firewalls, and the failover of site-to-site VPN is not robust compared to other competitors."
"The Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) Configuration Guides in XL cluster are very complex and other guides should be reviewed to validate configuration references."
"In our particular case, we have different web applications developed by the same organization, however, that requires a specialized protection element such as a WAF. Having this service or feature within the same solution would be very valuable."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate pricing to be about four or five out of ten, it is reasonable."
"The license for Fortinet FortiGate is affordable in my country."
"The support subscription for the solution is annual. You are paying for support and there are two levels of support, professional and advanced."
"It is more expensive than Sophos. Fortinet is overall more expensive than Sophos. The small range of Fortinet, such as 60F and 80F, is more expensive than the small range of Sophos. Sophos is cheaper. In addition, if you jump from 80F Series to 100F Series, the price doubles."
"The price range is quite acceptable and normal."
"I pay €1,200 per year for the license along with Fortinet's 81E firewall appliance. I would rate this pricing as 3/5 stars, and I believe the price is reasonably similar to its competitors in the market, being somewhere in the middle."
"I give the pricing a nine out of ten."
"It's an expensive solution."
"I consider it an averagely-priced tool."
"The tool is quite cheap."
"Check Point NGFW is expensive."
"For the firewall, there is a limitation on the license. We are facing some problems with mobile access. We have a license for 450 licenses of VPN users. We would like Check Point to have more than that, e.g., if the organization gets bigger and there are more users, then that will be a problem."
"It is more expensive than Cisco ASA but cheaper than Palo Alto."
"Its price is reasonable. If we compare its TCO for three years, it is more reasonable than some of the other vendors such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc."
"Though we did not take issue with the price of Check Point NGFW, we felt that it was providing us with inadequate support here in Uganda."
"Pricing is a little high compared to competitive firewalls, but it is easy to go through the licensing steps."
"It's an expensive solution"
"The pricing is a bit high, but obviously it gives you advanced features. If you want to buy the best thing on the market, you have to pay extra money."
