Room For Improvement

Apptio Cloudability needs to simplify interfaces, improve metrics, automate processes, and enhance integration for better user optimization and efficiency.
North Cloud should expand AWS savings plans, improve multilingual support, enhance AI, and offer better customer service and integration.
I've found that Groups is basically unusable because if it can't be used everywhere, you would have to run both group-based access control and direct user-based access control at the same time, which doesn't make any sense.
Cloud Ops Lead at a tech vendor with 10,001+ employees
I believe that automating all manual processes in Cloudability would be beneficial, providing a proactive prescriptive analysis on what needs to be done to lower costs.
Enterprise Data Architect at LTIMindtree
It would be beneficial if we could use resource tags to provide more fine-grained visibility.
Digital Marketing, Marketing Technology & Analytics Architect at a manufacturing company with 10,001+ employees
Enhancing custom reporting with a more flexible report builder, drag-and-drop functionality, SQL support, and the ability to create custom KPIs per unit.
Engineer Technology at Iris Software Inc.
This isn't a limitation on the North side, as they were able to rapidly add support for the existing database savings plans offerings when they launched, but more of an AWS limitation.
Director of Engineering at a manufacturing company with 11-50 employees
I would like to see additional savings for RDS and data transfer, as that would help my organization.
CTO & Co-Founder at Cabinet

Setup Cost

Apptio Cloudability offers comprehensive features with annual usage-based pricing, ideal for large organizations despite higher costs.
North Cloud offers flexible, affordable pricing and easy setup, appealing to enterprises needing quick implementation without long-term commitments.
Compared to the rest of the industry, they may be a little more expensive than some other FinOps tools.
Cloud Ops Lead at a tech vendor with 10,001+ employees
Pricing for North Cloud is acceptable at $99 per month, which is affordable.
Founder at AppNomu SalesQ
The setup cost is low with minimal infrastructure efforts needed, as it is fully cloud-based and requires cloud account integrations, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, billing access setup, and roles and permission configurations.
Engineer Technology at Iris Software Inc.
With our North Cloud account, we can take advantage of cost savings without committing to a contract, which makes it flexible for seasons when usage fluctuates.
Co-Founder at a educational organization with 11-50 employees

Apptio Cloudability optimizes AWS costs with features like Reserved Instance Planner, customized dashboards, extensive reporting, and seamless AWS integration.
North Cloud provides seamless multi-cloud support, cost-saving insights, intuitive tools, and real-time analytics for effective financial management.
The forecasting feature has helped me understand how the resources are utilized and how the cost is burned, and then I use it to make changes to keep the cost in control.
Digital Marketing, Marketing Technology & Analytics Architect at a manufacturing company with 10,001+ employees
The Views feature is also beneficial because lots of teams may use Cloudability within an organization, allowing users to segregate data to particular Views so they are only looking at what's relevant to them.
Cloud Ops Lead at a tech vendor with 10,001+ employees
I find the reports to be extensive and elaborate, and I get whatever information I require.
Enterprise Data Architect at LTIMindtree
We were able to reduce spend on our AWS bill without using any internal employee hours and without worrying about any complicated account changes.

Founder at AppNomu SalesQ
The unique aspect of the real-time analytics feature is that instead of logging into Google Cloud Platform, I can log into North Cloud and see exactly how the usage breaks down across CPU, RAM, storage, and network components.

Gained multi-cloud cost visibility and have optimized spend with detailed reports and rightsizing
The IAM feature is something that we struggle with using. IBM, the company that runs Cloudability, released the Groups feature back in the summer of 2025. While Groups can be used in some parts of the tool, it can't be used across the entire tool. I've found that Groups is basically unusable because if it can't be used everywhere, you would have to run both group-based access control and direct user-based access control at the same time, which doesn't make any sense. The Groups feature has improved over time, but it's still not something we feel we can use on an everyday basis, so the IAM section remains an issue right now. Most of the tool is very well-functioning and developed, and that's the only real improvement area that we've seen.

Improved cloud cost governance has enabled precise budgeting, monitoring, and waste reduction
For North Cloud's improvement, I would suggest enhancing its AI capabilities, adding advanced AI/ML features, improving real-time cost tracking to reduce the delay between cloud usage and dashboard updates, enhancing custom reporting with a more flexible report builder, drag-and-drop functionality, SQL support, and the ability to create custom KPIs per unit, as well as deeper cloud integrations beyond Azure, AWS, and GCP to Kubernetes cost tracking, improving tagging governance, and providing automatic detection of missing and incorrect cloud tags, plus AI-based tagging recommendations and a better user experience with more modern and interactive dashboards for easier navigation for non-technical users. For needed improvements, I would add that there should be easier navigation for non-technical users for the financial team and a simplified onboarding for new users, along with advanced alerting systems, smart alert thresholds using historical trends, predictive alerts, and multi-channel notifications via Slack, Teams, email, and PagerDuty.
