Have saved significant operational costs and streamlined alert-driven analytics with customizable dashboards
I definitely see some disadvantages in Apache Superset, particularly in the tagging feature which is not up to the mark, creating a little bit of mess for the administrators. We work with a Role-Based Access Control feature in the product. I assess this feature as good; they have permissions which are in more plain English, but there is a little bit of convenience missed out because if I have to create a super user apart from admin, I need to add all the permissions manually.

Data insights have driven faster financial forecasts and improved role-based decision making
The best features SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform offers include cross-enterprise sharing, where sharing insights is easier and seamless across my organization, and creating role-based dashboards. The role-based dashboards help my team and organization by providing information to specific users, allowing them to make decisions more easily, anytime, anywhere, across any device. SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform has positively impacted my organization by allowing us to perform financial reporting to make decisions faster. Since we started using SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform, we have been able to make faster, data-driven business decisions based on actual data insights and data analysis, which has accelerated our ability to make better decisions for our business productivity.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Apache Superset allows us to set up alerts; for instance, if the failure rate exceeds 1.5%, we receive an alert to address the issue with our integration partners."
"When you click on any chart, you can apply the filter without any effort."
"Apache Superset is a lightweight reporting tool with a lot of functions and flexibility, where you can build the dataset, build charts, and dashboards from the user interface."
"I see savings from using Apache Superset in both time and money, particularly with the cost reduced by roughly 99% compared to Tableau where we previously paid almost 50k annually."
"It's very easy, reliable, and trustable because it's an Apache open-source product."
"What I appreciate most about Apache Superset is its text search feature, including searching with small and capital letters."
"The solution supports a rich set of charts and enables users to create their own dashboards."
"What I appreciate the most about Apache Superset is that it's free and easy to set up."
"It has got great flexibility. As a reporting tool, it has a great deal of flexibility for numerous data resources that you can bring into it. It allows you to write your SQL query directly within the product. So, it allows you to do server-side joins instead of pulling all the data into Crystal Report to aggregate that data. It has great visualization. For the most part, it operates quite efficiently."
"The stability is pretty good, there are no bugs or glitches, it doesn't crash or freeze, and the performance is good."
"It is more user-friendly and easier to work with the report creation part, creating reports out of an established universe. Maybe a business person could liberate the existing universe and create a report on top of it, as well. So that's one cool feature."
"The features that I have found most valuable are that we are able to build all dashboards with self-service BI and are able to provide our business users with self-service BI. We are building a repository on top of our data warehouse and building all the dashboards and KPIs."
"I have seen improvement in our work after using the solution."
"The common metadata environment means that the entire organisation has the same definition of core measures rather than these being derived in spreadsheets or specific reports."
"We have been very pleased."
"The ability to merge dimensions in a report is great."

Cons

"Dark mode would be the main thing I would like; it does not really work because the chart text cannot be white in a dark mode setup, so it is not feasible."
"With Apache Superset, we had some problems with the permissions when we had too many users."
"The scalability of Apache Superset has been one of the challenges for us. We deployed it onto a bigger machine because as the users grew, we experienced a delay in data retrieval."
"Apache Superset needs more rich charting capabilities."
"I had issues when trying to export and import dashboards; I could not do it on the first attempt."
"Apache Superset could be improved by enhancing its interactivity and engagement capabilities."
"Dynamic dashboarding could improve to enable smooth navigation when transitioning from a higher to a lower view, allowing for easy accessibility."
"The platform's reporting feature needs enhancement."
"When we implemented BusinessObjects, the setup was straightforward. After SAP bought BusinessObjects, it gradually became more and more stepwise. There are too many steps, and they take too much time."
"The performance could be improved, like when we extract a large amount of data."
"The technical support for general issues gives us a good response, but for certain critical issues, it can takes four weeks to obtain a response."
"It needs some improvement in its performance. I don't think it can handle huge amounts of data well when compared to other ETL tools."
"Its price should be better. It is expensive and not cost-effective."
"It is not simple to use."
"The interface could be slicker and more user-friendly."
"The technical support has been a challenge when it comes to finding the correct support analyst who is familiar with how the various product components integrate."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Apache Superset is less than some of its competitors."
"Apache Superset has a three-year licensing model."
"Apache Superset is open-source and free."
"Apache Superset is an open-source solution."
"Its price is fair."
"The price and the pricing model are fine. We find the solution does not give us a lot of additional value."
"Just work with SAP to make sure you have enough licenses but don't go overboard."
"SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform is an expensive application."
"It is not an expensive platform. The licensing is for a package of users starting at 10 users."
"I have always found SAP BI to be expensive. It is expensive even when you compare SAP BI Cloud with Microsoft Power BI. Power BI is probably around $9.99 per month, and the cheapest SAP BI is around $20, which is double. In terms of price, Power BI is definitely a lot better. If you have budget issues, you may want to go for Power BI."
"There is an annual license to use SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform."
"There's no additional charge for a Development environment license, so build an additional development server."

I choose MS BI and I want to share my reasons and opinions on why I choose it and give you another quick…
