Advanced decision trees and seamless data pattern analysis transform data preparation
One of the most valuable features of Altair Knowledge Studio is its decision trees, which are quite advanced and popular compared to other tools. The Segment Viewer is another unique feature that provides a comprehensive view of data patterns and helps identify anomalies before creating decision trees. Additionally, the ability to export code in the language of SAS is valuable, and the tool's drag-and-drop functionality makes it accessible to business users without a coding background.

Improved data governance has enabled sensitive data tracking but cost management still needs work
I believe we could improve Databricks integration with cloud service providers. The impact of our current integration has not been particularly good, and it's becoming very expensive for us. The inefficiencies in our implementation, such as not shutting down warehouses when they're not in use or reserving the right number of credits, have led to increased costs. We made several beginner mistakes, such as not taking advantage of incremental loading and running overly complicated queries all the time. We should be using ETL tools to help us instead of doing it directly in Databricks. We need more experienced professionals to manage Databricks effectively, as it's not as forgiving as other platforms such as Snowflake. I think introducing customer repositories would facilitate easier implementation with Databricks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One of the most valuable features of Altair Knowledge Studio is its decision trees, which are quite advanced and popular compared to other tools."
"Databricks covers end-to-end data analytics workflow in one platform, this is the best feature of the solution."
"The solution is easy to use and has a quick start-up time due to being on the cloud."
"The initial setup of Databricks is straightforward and simple."
"The capability of the product is quite good and we are very satisfied with it overall."
"The most significant benefit Databricks has brought to my company is the Unity Catalog."
"One of the newest features brought into this solution provides you with a way to solve, deploy, and train models using the platform itself, or it can connect to your Azure Machine Learning in order to train, deploy, and productionalize some of the machine learning models."
"Having one solution for everything, from data engineering to machine learning, is beneficial since everything comes under one hood."
"Of the available feature set, I like the Imageflow feature a lot."

Cons

"It would be beneficial if Altair Knowledge Studio could offer a more unified platform that includes data preparation, predictive modeling, and model exportation."
"The query plan is not easy with Databrick's job level. If I want to tune any of the code, it is not easily available in the blogs as well."
"I think setting up the whole account for one person and giving access are areas that can be difficult to manage and should be made a little easier."
"I would like it if Databricks made it easier to set up a project."
"I present a lot of projects in various forums and seminars and there aren't a lot of credits and trial options with Databricks. Even if we want to explore, we're not able to and that's a challenge."
"As a data engineer, I see cluster failure in our Databricks user databases as a major issue."
"The product could be improved regarding the delay when switching to higher-performing virtual machines compared to other platforms."
"There has been a significant evolution in databases. One area of improvement is the Databricks File System (DBFS), where command-line challenges arise when accessing files."
"The solution could be improved by integrating it with data packets. Right now, the load tables provide a function, like team collaboration. Still, it's unclear as to if there's a function to create different branches and/or more branches. Our team had used data packets before, however, I feel it's difficult to integrate the current with the previous data packets."

"The price is okay. It's competitive."
