Advanced decision trees and seamless data pattern analysis transform data preparation
One of the most valuable features of Altair Knowledge Studio is its decision trees, which are quite advanced and popular compared to other tools. The Segment ( /products/segment-reviews ) Viewer is another unique feature that provides a comprehensive view of data patterns and helps identify anomalies before creating decision trees. Additionally, the ability to export code in the language of SAS is valuable, and the tool's drag-and-drop functionality makes it accessible to business users without a coding background.

Capability to integrate diverse coding languages in a single notebook greatly enhances workflow
Databricks offers various courses that I can use, whether it's PySpark, Scala, or R. I can leverage all these courses in a single notebook, which is beneficial for clients as they can access various tools in one place whenever needed. This is quite significant. I usually work with PySpark based on client requirements. After coding, I feed the Databricks notebooks into the ADF pipeline for updates. Databricks' capability to process data in parallel enhances data processing speed. Furthermore, I can connect our Databricks notebook directly with Power BI and other visualization tools like Qlik. Once we develop code, it allows us to transform raw data into visualizations for clients using analysis diagrams, which is very helpful.

Pros

"One of the most valuable features of Altair Knowledge Studio is its decision trees, which are quite advanced and popular compared to other tools."
"The Delta Lake data type has been the most useful part of this solution. Delta Lake is an opensource data type and it was implemented and invented by Databricks."
"I like how easy it is to share your notebook with others. You can give people permission to read or edit. I think that's a great feature. You can also pull in code from GitHub pretty easily. I didn't use it that often, but I think that's a cool feature."
"The solution is very easy to use."
"The solution is an impressive tool for data migration and integration."
"Databricks is definitely a very stable product and reliable."
"The most valuable feature of Databricks is the notebook, data factory, and ease of use."
"The solution offers a free community version."
"Databricks offers various courses that I can use, whether it's PySpark, Scala, or R."

Cons

"It would be beneficial if Altair Knowledge Studio could offer a more unified platform that includes data preparation, predictive modeling, and model exportation."
"Pricing is one of the things that could be improved."
"The solution could be improved by adding a feature that would make it more user-friendly for our team. The feature is simple, but it would be useful. Currently, our team is more familiar with the language R, but Databricks requires the use of Jupyter Notebooks which primarily supports Python. We have tried using RStudio, but it is not a fully integrated solution. To fully utilize Databricks, we have to use the Jupyter interface. One feature that would make it easier for our team to adopt the Jupyter interface would be the ability to select a specific variable or line of code and execute it within a cell. This feature is available in other Jupyter Notebooks outside of Databricks and in our own IDE, but it is not currently available within Databricks. If this feature were added, it would make the transition to using Databricks much smoother for our team."
"I have seen better user interfaces, so that is something that can be improved."
"The product should incorporate more learning aspects. It needs to have a free trial version that the team can practice."
"There is room for improvement in visualization."
"The Databricks cluster can be improved."
"The biggest problem associated with the product is that it is quite pricey."
"The ability to customize our own pipelines would enhance the product, similar to what's possible using ML files in Microsoft Azure DevOps."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"We have only incurred the cost of our AWS cloud services. This is because during this period, Databricks provided us with an extended evaluation period, and we have not spent much money yet. We are just starting to incur costs this month, I will know more later on the full cost perspective."
"We pay as we go, so there isn't a fixed price. It's charged by the unit. I don't have any details detail about how they measure this, but it should be a mix between processing and quantity of data handled. We run a simulation based on our use cases, which gives us an estimate. We've been monitoring this, and the costs have met our expectations."
"We find Databricks to be very expensive, although this improved when we found out how to shut it down at night."
"Databricks uses a price-per-use model, where you can use as much compute as you need."
"I would rate Databricks' pricing seven out of ten."
"Licensing on site I would counsel against, as on-site hardware issues tend to really delay and slow down delivery."
"Databricks are not costly when compared with other solutions' prices."
"I do not exactly know the costs, but one of our clients pays between $100 USD and $200 USD monthly."
