Research management has transformed our earnings work and consistently saves over half our time
AlphaSense handles image and screen captures very well. The imaging screen capture feature helps my team in practice by making research notes more useful. Another valuable feature that AlphaSense offers is AI summaries of earnings reports. AlphaSense has positively impacted my organization by allowing us to publish notes in the system to ensure everyone has the latest thinking from coverage analysis.

Advanced predictive analytics have supported my research and student projects across many methods
The only function I may need to be added or hope to be added to IBM SPSS Statistics is how to treat unstructured data. This mainly exists with IBM SPSS Modeler, but I do not think it is able to treat something like videos and similar content unless you are using languages like Python inside IBM SPSS Modeler or inside IBM SPSS Statistics. For the menu itself, for the selection, it does not exist. Thinking of the future, I believe that the owners of IBM SPSS Statistics should think about improving the package itself to be able to treat unstructured data.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"A specific outcome that shows how AlphaSense has helped my team is that it has saved our team between 40 to 55 percent of our time."
"Extracting historical data from filings has saved me a lot of time since without AlphaSense I would have to open file by file and manually find the data myself."
"AlphaSense has positively impacted my organization, and I have seen a significant time saving in research, about fifty to seventy percent."
"AlphaSense has become a core part of our research workflow, especially for speeding up competitive intelligence and making information gathering much more efficient."
"AlphaSense has positively impacted my organization by saving time on routine tasks."
"I have noticed improvements in decision-making speed, as it was taking three hours to analyze and manage the data, but thanks to AlphaSense, it is now done within a fraction of minutes."
"Both of them produce more accurate, reliable, and easy-to-generate results than any other tool that's around."
"The solution is very stable."
"The biggest benefit of the IBM SPSS Statistics tool for my customers and me is that it's very old, meaning they have more experience; when the tool was first released, we had customer service that created surveys with the customers asking which way they wanted to go, what they would see within the tool, and what would be helpful—IBM basically created the tool according to this knowledge."
"I can recommend it, as it's a good, stable solution with a proven track record."
"I think in the future this kind of algorithm will be used widely by people to predict many things and to improve the performance of businesses and individuals."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the Bayesian statistics and descriptive statistics."
"The software offers consistency across multiple research projects helping us with predictive analytics capabilities."
"Most of the product features are good but I particularly like the linear regression analysis."

Cons

"AlphaSense can be improved by having a mechanism to add comments inside my own notes."
"AlphaSense could improve by incorporating an Excel API so that I can extract the information more easily directly with an Excel plugin."
"AlphaSense could improve its dashboard customization and make some advanced filtering options more intuitive for new users."
"I would rate AlphaSense's customer support as lacking since I have not had any experience."
"One area for improvement could be the high compute requirements for larger data sets that need to be improved."
"I would improve the Excel plugins, which are already present."
"The product should provide more ways to import data and export results that are user-friendly for high-level executives."
"I have faced some challenges with IBM SPSS Statistics; you need to know what you're doing because it's not very user-friendly."
"IBM SPSS Statistics could be cheaper."
"SPSS is a tool that's been around since the late 60s, and it's the universal worldwide standard for quantitative social science data analysis. That said, it does seem a bit strange to me that the graphical output functions are so clunky after all these years. The output of charts and graphs that SPSS produces is hideous."
"Another issue is that it does not handle very large data sets well. When there are 100,000 respondents, it does not manage effectively and crashes more often when the data set becomes very large or while merging yearly waves such as 2018, 2019, 2020 to 2026."
"This solution is not suitable for use with Big Data."
"IBM SPSS Statistics is mostly working with structured data. However, if you are having unstructured data, IBM SPSS Statistics is not able up to now to work with it."
"I think there is an issue with the charting and visualization, and I don't think it works as well as the competitive product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"SPSS is an expensive piece of software because it's incredibly complex and has been refined over decades, but I would say it's fairly priced."
"The price of IBM SPSS Statistics could improve."
"The price of this solution is a little bit high, which was a problem for my company."
"While the pricing of the product may be higher, the accompanying service and features justify the investment."
"If it requires lot of data processing, maybe switching to IBM SPSS Clementine would be better for the buyer."
"It's quite expensive, but they do a special deal for universities."
"Our licence is on a yearly renewal basis. While pricing is not the primary concern in our evaluation, as products are assessed by whether they can meet our user needs and expertise, the cost can be a limiting factor in the number of licences we procure."
"I rate the tool's pricing a five out of ten."
