Adaptive scales well, simple to create new budget versions and models
For the organization I used to work at, it streamlined the process of creating budgets. It's very simple to create a new version and do some more modeling based on your need for planning things like headcount, other expenses, and revenue, everything is configurable within Workday. So that made it easy. Reporting was pretty easy to set up as well. It streamlined the amount of time it took to do the budget as well as kind of making it simple to implement a rolling forecast process. So, it really was more just a productivity increase and time shortening for the budgeting and forecasting process.

Self-service analysis has empowered teams and has highlighted needs for faster visuals
The best features Sigma offers include a spreadsheet-like interface for easy data interaction, live query directly on the cloud data warehouse, real-time collaboration with team members, scalability for large data sets, and strong governance and access control features. The spreadsheet-like interface that Sigma provides helps by offering a familiar Excel-like UI that reduces learning curves for business users. It allows the use of formulas such as SUM and IF without SQL knowledge, makes it easy to drag and drop for quick data manipulation, speeds up ad hoc analysis without dependency on the data team, and enables faster decision-making with self-service access.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The important feature is integration with source data. It connects to various ERP systems, including Workday, Intact, and others. It can also import actuals and compare them to PlanPoint quite easily."
"It's very simple to create a new version and do some more modeling based on your need for planning things like headcount, other expenses, and revenue, everything is configurable within Workday."
"Reports are allowed to be edited for aesthetic purposes, which is lacking in a lot of other dashboard tools."
"We utilize planning on a daily basis, therefore we find it to be the most valuable product for our organization."
"It's very stable."
"Automated reporting."
"Forecasting changes that instantly flow through all financial statements."
"It helps develop a more unified work format throughout the company."
"Sigma serves as the visualization and reporting front end."
"The most valuable feature of Sigma is the detailed reports."
"Sigma's customer support is excellent, and that is actually one of the other reasons why we ended up going with Sigma, as we are able to hit the question mark and ask for support and get real live people that are very knowledgeable."
"I find the collaborative features, such as commenting, to be very valuable."
"The tool's interface is easy to use. The functions listed as a part of the menu items are easy to use."
"The most valuable feature of Sigma is the detailed reports."
"Sigma has excellent features, such as lookup tables where you can easily bring data that are not interrelated or at different granularity."
"Sigma has reduced development time by almost 40 to 50%, saves around five to six hours per week for the analyst team by eliminating manual data preparation and exports, reduces dependency on data engineers, saves costs for new hires, provides faster insights leading to quicker business decisions, and improves operational efficiency."

Cons

"Users continue to become more advanced and are looking for more advanced solutions."
"Their customer support team is slow to respond and not extremely confident."
"Being able to drill down when using OfficeConnect needs work."
"The upload feature exists, but isn't terribly useful."
"Better user interface (UI)."
"We tried Discovery and OfficeConnect at one point and found them too cumbersome, at the time."
"Adaptive Insights has a limit of 1,00,000 rows for HTML reports. It should be improved because we will have multiple dimensions that need to be populated to enhance the image."
"The integrations could be simpler. It takes quite a bit of internal and IT know-how to set up."
"I think Sigma can be improved because, for the last ten months since I first started here, this is my first time ever using it, and I think there is a steep learning curve."
"Sigma could have better reports."
"Sigma could have better reports."
"The only minor area for improvement lies in handling highly complex visualizations."
"I would like to see better visualization options. That would allow me to build out more visually pleasing dashboarding in Sigma."
"Either we are not using it properly, or the software is too complicated. It would be great if there was a way for me to create reports without relying on a data analyst."
"Sigma can be improved in terms of speed; it would be great if it could process the data even faster."
"The main improvement needed is in data modeling capabilities. If they add those features in the near future, it would be very helpful for us to implement the same or do the data cleansing part in the Sigma tool itself."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Everything is negotiable, but this solution is low cost compared to others."
"Pricing is in line with other cloud-based EPM tools. It is a subscription-based model based upon the number of users and site type if it's an admin or end-user type thing."
"It's affordable."
"Licensing seems to be worth the cost considering the efficiency Adaptive brings."
"Adaptive Insights' pricing is relative to its peer competitors. It's certainly competitive compared to a spreadsheet template that you build in Excel. It can be expensive if you need to have 100-500 budget holders giving input and building financial plans. However, in that case, it becomes an extremely good bargain. Compared to its competitors, it offers an excellent value."
"Prior to purchasing licenses, make sure you understand which users will only need planning and which users will need both planning and OfficeConnect."
"Adaptive Insights' pricing is reasonable."
"Ensure that you have the proper pricing plan in place."
"The retail price is set at one thousand dollars per creator per year."
