We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The fact that we can expand our storage and add on to our compute nodes easily and how amazing the StarWind technical support team is really adding value to our purchase.""I save both physical and virtual space.""The management interface on the software is very simple. It is insanely simple compared to most SANs. The interface is also powerful when used to complete tasks that an IT administrator needs to complete.""The Windows-based StarWind GUI is easy to use and understand and integrates seamlessly with VMware's vSphere portal as well.""The most valuable features are high availability and real-time replication between two servers.""StarWind vSAN has allowed us to leverage our server infrastructure more completely without the need to add more hardware.""The license price is one of the cheapest in the market.""Being hardware agnostic is a must and definitely scored points for us."

More StarWind Virtual SAN Pros →

"The most valuable feature is the backup capability.""The most valuable feature of Acronis Cyber Infrastructure is the multi-tenancy model, we can create customers and services for them.""The most valuable features are the full image backup, and the file or document sharing, allowing documents to be easily accessed from anywhere."

More Acronis Cyber Infrastructure Pros →

"Installation is straightforward because it's a vSAN. It only took one or two days.""We find the setup quite straightforward and very easy.""Lenovo ThinkAgile VX Series' deployment is easy. We are a tier-one platinum partner who is into multiple implementations.""The VX machines are scalable."

Cons
"The logs can also become very noisy when there is an issue, which is very infrequent.""Pricing is a bit high.""The setup and documentation for the installation with the free version could definitely be improved.""It is difficult to control all of the hardware components.""The system performs as expected, but we're always looking for performance improvements regarding the best utilization of NVMe disks.""I'd prefer it if a remote console was provided.""I would definitely like to see quite a bit more on the monitoring side of things.""The software monitoring should be web-based to be reachable from any VLAN workstation."

More StarWind Virtual SAN Cons →

"Acronis Cyber Infrastructure is too populated. They have many features, but some features are still missing, it is not complete. They need to improve many features, such as email security and disaster recovery.""If they could make improvements with the virtual environment then it would be better.""I would like to see real-time backup supported in the next release of this solution."

More Acronis Cyber Infrastructure Cons →

"With the VX machines, the clients often confuse the hardware itself with the services and resources. VMs are configured according to resources - memory, hard disk capacity, and network. These resources, including memory and processor, are actually shared on the VX Series. So, if the server's processor is underpowered or unreliable for the VMs, many of the VMs will encounter issues. Ideally, the physical server configuration should align more closely with the needs of the virtual servers.""Lenovo ThinkAgile VX Series needs to improve its stability. Its resolution should be faster.""Support could be better.""The user management could be a bit better. It's something they could improve upon in future releases."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The setup cost is very low. The pricing is great."
  • "We are happy with the price."
  • "The license is reusable. We can always rebuild it and apply the license. Then, boom, we get new servers, apply the license, and we're back up and running."
  • "The pricing is fine for the work that it does."
  • "When we did all the analysis for StarWind, it was approximately 20 percent less than any of the other solutions that we looked at."
  • "The scalability limitation for us is its licensing. At some point in the fairly near future, we will probably have to upgrade our license so we can store eight terabytes instead of four. We are currently at four terabytes, but we're starting to knock on the door of that capacity."
  • "The pricing is excellent. It will run on anything. You don't have to buy a $100,000 server, with hardware you don't need. You just pay for the license and you're good to go."
  • "The licensing is a bit weird. If you license the standard version of StarWind, it allows you four terabytes. Then, they have a pro version, but with the pro version, the only difference is it doubles the terabytes to eight."

  • "The pricing is on the high side and the subscription is renewed every year."
  • "We pay monthly for the use of Acronis Cyber Infrastructure. There are additional features that we use that have an extra fee."
  • More Acronis Cyber Infrastructure Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "You need to pay a license for additional features. If we need to monitor hardware for the automatic alert notification, we need to pay them."
  • "The tool's pricing is competitive."
  • "There is room for improvement in the licensing structure, maybe. Regarding sizing the resources, sometimes it's difficult to calculate/compute them based on the client's requirements."
