My use case for Collibra [Private Offer Only] is data cataloging and data quality.
We do address data privacy regulations, but we don't use Collibra [Private Offer Only] for that; we're using Immuta for that purpose. Immuta is the tool we are using for data privacy regulations.
We do use metrics to evaluate the improvement in data quality management since we implemented Collibra [Private Offer Only]. We monitor the quality scores over time and adoption, specifically how many users are actually accessing each business term. We are even trying to monitor how long users look at each data item, but that's still a work in progress. Predominantly, it's about quality rules breaking and improvement over time from the quality side and adoption from the catalog side.
Integration to data sources and reliability and availability are the advantages in Collibra [Private Offer Only] that really stand out for me, and I believe those are probably the two most important points.
I am working with the automated data lineage feature in Collibra [Private Offer Only]. The automated data lineage feature helps with traceability in the organization because it makes the catalog live; rather than the catalog being a spreadsheet essentially with definitions, users can not only find the business definition, but then also see which tables and columns actually create this business term. That's very powerful.
Regarding intelligent workflow capabilities, I believe it impacts data stewardship tasks within my team by improving and helping in making and creating those definitions.
It is essential to us that Collibra [Private Offer Only] integrates with other data systems in our environment, and we are using it, and it's quite effective. The integration aspect of Collibra [Private Offer Only] is important because it provides data integration that delivers lineage into Databricks, Salesforce, and soon also SAP.
The main disadvantage I see in Collibra [Private Offer Only] is the search capabilities, which are terrible.
The search capabilities are terrible in Collibra [Private Offer Only] because you can't do free search. I expect a free search function similar to a rumination health index, but you have to really know the structure of the data in order to find anything meaningful. The search feature is horrible, and they need to rebuild it from scratch.
I started working with Collibra [Private Offer Only] three years ago.
I have not experienced any scalability issues with Collibra [Private Offer Only].
The technical team of Collibra [Private Offer Only] should be better in providing support.
We are not getting any support; it's very hard to get help, and we're mainly getting support from the MSD team, not from Collibra [Private Offer Only] itself. If I had to rate support from Collibra [Private Offer Only] subjectively from zero to ten, they deserve three points.
I was not a part of the deployment process for Collibra [Private Offer Only], but I know it's an in-house installation. It's an on-premises deployment.
There is significant return on investment with Collibra [Private Offer Only], but I think it's as much about the way we are using Collibra [Private Offer Only] as it is about Collibra [Private Offer Only] itself.
I can compare Collibra [Private Offer Only] with Matillion, which can be found on PeerSpot. I thought Matillion was a better option, but corporate went with Collibra [Private Offer Only], so we took Collibra [Private Offer Only].
The offerings are very similar to Snowflake versus Databricks offerings. The search capabilities were significantly better in Matillion, and data quality was built in, while Collibra [Private Offer Only] data quality is actually an acquisition they made, and it's still separate tools. They still haven't been able to really integrate the two products, and that creates some clunkiness. Despite this, corporate went with Collibra [Private Offer Only], so we picked that as well.
I work as a customer too. I would rate Collibra [Private Offer Only] an eight out of ten.
My major use case is basically on glossary and business glossary. Among other features, I see a Data Lineage feature with automated Data Lineage capability. I do not use Data Lineage.
I am also using Snowflake. Regarding metrics to evaluate the improvement in data quality management since I implemented Collibra [Private Offer Only], I don't have any metric or benchmark that I use for evaluation.
To determine that the solution is efficient, I check the users and how many users are logging in and when they are. I recheck the usage metrics basically.
Since I have been using the solution for so many years, the biggest advantage of Collibra [Private Offer Only] is that it is quite business-friendly. A specific feature that I like is the business-friendly console, so it is very easy to navigate and search the data.
Another feature I see is intelligent workflow. This is a good one and it impacts data stewardship tasks within my team. It helps me to basically tag who is responsible for cleansing the data and all, who are going to fix the issues.
Regarding the policy management feature, it does address data privacy regulations. This is a good one and it helps me to basically make sure that I am able to enforce these policies and check them.
In terms of integration capability with other data systems, I don't use much of the integration one. I only use it to integrate with my Snowflake platform.
There are some areas where Collibra [Private Offer Only] could be improved. Earlier, they didn't have this data quality module and the AI part, but now I think I have not recently used that feature, but I think they have started working on that as well.
The only suggestion or area for improvement would be connected with AI and as well as data quality as well.
I have been using Collibra [Private Offer Only] for almost seven years.
Collibra [Private Offer Only] is 99% stable and reliable.
Regarding scalability, I find that it is solving my needs, so I think it is very easily available as well.
Regarding technical support from Collibra [Private Offer Only], it is fine. Sometimes it depends upon the type of issue I have, but normally they are responsive.
If I had to rate support from zero to 10, with 10 being the best, I would give them 6.5. To be a 10, they could expedite the workflow once I raise an issue and maybe provide a dedicated account manager or something, which would be helpful.
The installation of Collibra [Private Offer Only] is easy. I have it on-cloud. I believe the cloud provider is AWS, but I am not very sure.
I do see value for money with Collibra [Private Offer Only]. It saves me on time and on money and I do see ROI. Earlier there used to be a lag when people searched for information. Currently it is readily available on Collibra [Private Offer Only] and they can search on data points. This saves their time and my time as well.
Regarding price, I don't want to comment on that.
When I look at the complete picture on the market, Collibra [Private Offer Only] is good. There are others as well, such as Atlan, which is also picking up the market. Atlan is very similar to Collibra [Private Offer Only]. However, I prefer Collibra [Private Offer Only] because they have their market presence for a longer time, so they have sustained in this market. Nowadays, every other day a new company starts and after some time it stops. It is better to rely on an old company which is still working and progressing.
I am currently a customer of Collibra [Private Offer Only]. I have worked seven years with Collibra [Private Offer Only] and I am working almost 14 years with all of these tools in general, not only Collibra [Private Offer Only] but Snowflake, Alation, and other tools as well. I give Collibra [Private Offer Only] an overall rating of 7.5 out of 10 points.
