| Senior Analyst at Deloitte | 4.5 | I've found Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise effective for securing public-facing apps, with excellent CDN and threat filtering, though it's pricey and support response is slow; configuration was initially complex but manageable over time. |
| Infrastructure Securiy & Cyber Engineer at a transportation company with 5,001-10,000 employees | 3.5 | I've used Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise for a year; its threat intelligence is valuable. However, our organization doesn't use its internet routing feature, considering it not cost-effective compared to other available solutions. I rate it seven out of ten. |
| Manager- Secure Web Defense- Perimeter Security at a financial services firm with 10,001+ employees | 4.5 | I use Akamai SPS Threat Avert for its user-friendly interface as a security SaaS provider. Despite its effectiveness, its pricing is a concern as it's a costly enterprise solution compared to AWS and other vendors. |
The typical use cases for Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise come up when the architecture is different; if the TLS configuration is present, it becomes a bit difficult.
CDN capability is what I appreciate about Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise. It protects applications that are internet-facing or public-facing. Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise is a product which has very good features and capabilities. I have worked on Radware also, but Radware has some limited capabilities.
Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise has positively impacted my organization. We have around 62 applications within our firm which are now routing traffic through Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise. It has fewer false positives, which is something we haven't encountered yet.
I assess the impact of Akamai's real-time threat filtering as 10 out of 10, and I am satisfied with this feature.
Pricing from Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise is very expensive compared to other products in the market. If it could provide the same capabilities at a lower price, it would be a great solution to have in place.
Their support response time needs improvement. They take on average one week to respond, which is not satisfactory given how critical applications are to the organization. For high-impact issues, they should respond within two to four hours.
I have been experienced with Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise for one year, but I have previous experience of seven years in cybersecurity.
I rate the support from Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise as 6.5. I would give them a seven because they have a good technical team, but the response rate could be better.
Positive
I did not have a team of specialists to configure Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise because I do not belong to the Web Application Firewall team. I have been working in data loss prevention with experience in Symantec, McAfee, and Forcepoint. I can now configure it without any assistance.
It was easy to install Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise. The installation depends on the application. On average, it takes eight weeks to complete the implementation. The basic configuration does not take more than one week if the infrastructure is simple.
Configuring Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise was complex initially, but once you get used to it, it becomes simpler.
It is very important for my organization because customers want to understand the traffic report generated after putting the application into learning mode. We need to be transparent with customers about what kind of data or traffic report is being generated by Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise or any Web Application Firewall solution we have in place.
I work for Deloitte as a Senior Analyst, with an expected promotion to Assistant Manager.
I rate Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise 9 out of 10.

The threat intelligence feature is particularly valuable when used with another product of Akamai. Akamai has an extensive bank of threat feed data that they share not only across their own products but also with many different security vendors. Their researchers continuously update this threat feed database, making it an effective tool for defending against and blocking bad actors, public malicious IPs, harmful hashes, and malicious URLs.
The internet feature access allows organizations to route their internet traffic through Akamai.
Since Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise is not being used in our campus environment, as our users do not route their internet through Akamai, I cannot provide detailed feedback on areas for improvement. However, I would expect it functions similarly to other internet access protection solutions, with URL filtering, application control, and capabilities comparable to Check Point Harmony Browse or Cisco Umbrella.
I have been working with Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise for one year.
I have not observed any significant impact on the performance of Akamai's real-time threat filtering. When traffic is deployed on the egress or outbound path and users attempt to reach the internet through malicious IPs or websites that are blocked by the threat feed, the impact is minimal. When a user attempts to access a malicious website, they are blocked by Akamai, which is the intended behavior. In my experience with Akamai, I have not observed false positives where legitimate IPs or websites are incorrectly blocked.
Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise was deployed by a different team. I am not aware of how many people were involved in the installation, as Akamai has been in place for approximately 20 years, making it difficult to identify a specific deployment year. The installation likely occurred approximately 15 years ago.
Our organization does not utilize the internet access feature of Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise because our company routes internet traffic through our public ISPs rather than through Akamai. We use a firewall at the perimeter, which is a straightforward approach used by most companies. From my perspective, the internet access feature would not be the most accurate feature to review for our use case.
From a financial standpoint, I do not believe Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise is cost-effective when compared to other solutions available in the industry. More affordable and accessible solutions exist, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses. Competing SASE platforms from Check Point, Palo Alto, and Zscaler offer cheaper alternatives that are more readily deployed.
While I cannot speak to all capabilities since we are not fully utilizing Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise, routing clients through Akamai as a proxy does provide enhanced security benefits. Organizations can mask their public IPs behind Akamai's infrastructure, which provides additional security. However, the market currently offers many excellent alternative solutions.
We are using all the features of the SaaS offering for Akamai Secure Internet Access Enterprise. My overall rating for this product is seven out of ten.
Akamai SPS Threat Avert is a leading security and CDN provider. The best feature of Akamai SPS Threat Avert is that it's very user-friendly compared to other technologies.
Akamai SPS Threat Avert's pricing could be improved because it's a very expensive enterprise solution. AWS and a lot of other vendors are usually not that much expensive.
I have been using Akamai SPS Threat Avert for around seven years.
No solution is stable when it comes to security. It cannot be 100% stable, but I haven't witnessed any major downtime with Akamai SPS Threat Avert in the past two years. There were instances once or twice, but apart from it, nothing major had happened on the availability part.
Akamai SPS Threat Avert is quite a scalable solution.
The solution’s initial setup is easy.
Provided the features Akamai SPS Threat Avert provides, it is bound to be expensive.
Akamai SPS Threat Avert is deployed on-cloud in our organization.
Users should choose Akamai SPS Threat Avert based on their needs and the organization's capability. If it's a small-scale business, I would recommend exploring other solutions that will be fairly cheaper than Akamai SPS Threat Avert. However, if it's an enterprise business with a lot of transactions, security concerns, and compliance issues, I would advise them to go ahead with Akamai SPS Threat Avert.
Although it's a good solution, Akamai SPS Threat Avert is expensive and best suited for enterprise-level businesses, not mid-level or low-level organizations.
Overall, I rate Akamai SPS Threat Avert a nine out of ten.
