The easy to use interface and, of course, the HCI. It is great to have a single vendor and interface for your hardware, software, and virtualization.
What is most valuable?
How has it helped my organization?
We were a VMware shop, and Nimboxx allowed me to eliminate VMware from my environment. This helped reduce the size of my virtualization environment, as well as the support costs in maintenance and maintainability.
What needs improvement?
The product is brand new, so there are a lot of things I'd like to see in future releases. Snapshots and backups of VMs are easy to do, but cumbersome to manage currently. There are, currently, a limited number of networking options for VMs on the interface (i.e. jumbo frames and bonding). If you ask, they will provide them for you, but they aren't currently built into the interface.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using the product for a little over a year.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
No issues encountered.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
No issues encountered.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
No issues encountered.
How are customer service and technical support?
It's awesome, and Dan is the best.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Hyper converged infrastructure (HCI) is brand new, and I couldn't find anyone else doing it the way Nimboxx was. I liked the fact that there is no server that controls the environment like VMware's vCenter server. I've had multiple occasions where the vCenter server has had issues and you run into difficulties managing your virtual environment or even worse you have to rebuild your vCenter server. Not an issue with Nimboxx.
How was the initial setup?
It couldn't be anymore straightforward. Set the IP addresses, click Ok and then start building your VMs. Really that simple.
What about the implementation team?
There was no implementation team, just me.
What was our ROI?
The ROI is largely due to the ease of management. The interface is self explanatory, and doesn't require certified individuals to operate the environment.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I would suggest contacting Nimboxx via their website and asking for the 30 trday trial. Play with it, and make up your own mind.
What other advice do I have?
The product is brand new and still has some enhancements to make, and when they do, they have the potential to be 10/10.
