There are several systems that are capable of providing security at a document level, with encryption a rest, and a robust API. But as far as granularity goes, I don't see much else being able to apply indexing and security to an individual paragraph on a page.

I believe Mobius is an old digital solution for Enterprise Report Management ("ERM").
If the customer is looking for the Industry Leading Report Management solution they should look at IBM Content Management OnDemand (CMOD).

However, Mobius DocumentDirect is also presented as a Content Management system with the following options:

Content Services capabilities:
Web Services
Security and Compliance Services
Audit and Analytics Services
Ingestion Services
Storage Services
Repository and Management Services
Output Management Services

Information Management capabilities:
Document Management
Records Management
Intranet & Portals
Team Collaboration

The IBM FileNet solutions are the best solutions to address all of this.
Please understand that with IBM Content Navigator (ICN) you can seamlessly search and manage the IBM CMOD solution, IBM Content Foundation / IBM FileNet, IBM Records Management, any Box cloud repository as well as any Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) compliant repository. Also, the same IBM Content Navigator can be used with IBM Case Manager for true enterprise business process management.

Remember, Content Navigator is free with IBM Content Foundation, IBM Case Manager, and CMOD.

@it_user548808 I wouldn't exactly use the term "OLD" it's very prevalent today, being used by some of the top 10 banks, manufacturers, and Insurance Companies around the world.

I believe that OpenText ECM solution would be a reasonable choice to compare with ASG Mobius Document.

SharePoint 2016 or Office 365 (with SharePoint Online). O 365 if you have a deployment of Office suite and want to incorporate Word. PowerPoint, Excel, Teamworks, Skype communications, and/or Yammer into your document management, collaboration, forms, workflow, archiving, and document retention policies.

You should check out DocStar ECM. Great product. Fully featured. Easy to use and priced according to what you need. I have worked for DocStar nearly 10 years. It is a great company and has only gotten better since we were acquired by Epicor. https://www.docstar.com/

Well, I guess I’m not aware of anyone using Mobius Document Direct without an underlying Mobius ViewDirect repository to point to, either mainframe (MVS) or Networks (we have Document Direct it pointing to both, in several implementations).

We, too, are looking to replace our Mobius products – on the midrange side of things, we’re leaning to a product called Alfresco. On the mainframe side, currently leaning towards CA View/Deliver, with their webviewer also running on the mainframe.

There are several options that will provide similar features to that of DocumentDirect. We can start with OpenText Everywhere, OpenText Documentum, Alfresco (Open Source option) and your typical SharePoint if you are a Windows shop.

Depending on the needs, budget and time frame of client some of the above products will have better fit. For example, low budget, basic functionally and low learning curve I would recommend Alfresco. Robust functionality that go beyond DocumentDirect OpenText would be a good choice.

I will recommend DocuWare ECM due to their technical expertise on Cloud, on-premise and Hybrid ECM platforms, user friendly and with a full set of modules that provide any workflow automation and mobile capabilities

One of the good content management tool available currently is Sharepoint online. When your organization looks at collaboration, discovery, security as the founding pillars, Sharepoint is the best fit. Added advantage is when you already use o365 and Active directory services, then seamlessly it fits in as an Enterprise class ECM tool which can be scaled based upon the requirement and mobile enabled for ease of access.

I don't know the details of the products, nor do I care, I shall simply let you know how it is - and therefore should be - and you can stop comparing apples and simply start eating them.

You want an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution. Therefore, it MUST be metadata centric, not object centric - so there disappears the Microsoft Way (sharepoint). I made TRIM about 20 years ago, it is metadata centric, has a collection of API's (SDK) to talk to locally installed appiications and a Web Service to communicate with the world of the web - to enable Information Management by establishing a Source Authority. All ECM solutions should provide this and be metadata centric. It doesn't matter if you use Objective, TRIM, Filenet or Documentum (or whatever they may be called now). They are all metadata centric ECM solutions. Sharepoint and Microsoft technologies are object centric - steer clear of them if you are serious about information management.

I am not aware of ASG Mobius Document Direct.

We have been using IBM FileNet since 2010 as Content Management Platform. Due to license costs and frequent upgrade costs, we decided to switch to Alfresco which is open source platform. We are working with our partners towards that direction. By end of 2018, we will switch to Alfresco.

Alfresco is an industry proven product as per recent Gartner reports and additional analysis is done by our architecture teams.

Hope this helps.

Depending on what the Digital Transformation Strategy is and what the short & long term plans are, I would recommend looking at a portfolio based product and vendor.

I have personally worked with and have been implementing OpenText solutions for over a decade and would definitely recommend the OpenText Content Suite.

Looking at the number of users and the brief company description, I would think the OpenText portfolio is something they should be looking at.

My kind thoughts goes to Alfresco, as a leading open source ECM with many features , and a vigorous set of criteria which focused on content sharing, findability and flexible, modern architectures.

Depending on your needs, QOS and budget you have the choice to give a try between the open source formula as a clever tactic to mitigate risks firstly and then go forward to the enterprise license if choosing Alfresco appear to be the answer for your business requirement.

Enterprise Content Management
