A tool that offers good UI and documentation
Webroot Business Endpoint Protection had sent me a physical installation medium, which was very easy to obtain and deploy. It was also easy to configure, and it had a nice UI. I didn't have any problems with the product. I think that Webroot Business Endpoint Protection is very transparent about the pricing models offered to users. The tool also maintains transparency about the features and specifications. Previously, when I compared the two products with Webroot Business Endpoint Protection, I saw that with Trend Micro, it is very difficult to transparently find out what it offers and how much it charges for it.

Customization capabilities allow clients to autonomously deploy policies
There are a few areas where Trellix Endpoint Security can improve. Firstly, the high CPU utilization when agents are installed can negatively impact client systems. Another issue is with end-users outside the network, where the agent handler sometimes fails to deploy the product properly. Improvements are needed in forensic analytics to detect specific vulnerabilities. It would also help if detection specifics were identified more quickly and the problem-solving process accelerated, especially to meet larger clients' expectations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Webroot's tech support is pretty good; they've given me some pointers."
"It monitors traffic and keeps us from getting ransomware or other viruses."
"Low performance requirements."
"There aren't any features that really stand out — I just want it to keep malware out of my system. To date, I haven't had any malware in my system."
"The feature we found most valuable is the AI functionality for maintaining endpoint security. This is very powerful."
"Their policy management, their cloud-based dashboard and user interface are very easy to navigate."
"I like that Webroot is very lightweight. It didn't bog down the machine, and more importantly, it had heuristics artificial intelligence to some degree. It wasn't like full-blown artificial intelligence, but something where you have one endpoint recognizing issues because it maintains a cloud database. If one client recognizes a threat, it would add it to the database, and almost immediately, every agent in the world would also know about that threat. That was very appealing to us. However, now it's becoming commonplace, whereas ventures like Symantec and McAfee were based more on the traditional model of definition and updates, and we were always falling behind. Webroot also has pretty good technical support."
"Its ease of installation is valuable. It has been a low-resource tool and the continuous updates in the past have made it attractive from the standpoint of the trust level on the protection."
"The solution includes a good combination of features for both signature and signature-less."
"Trellix Security Endpoint can promptly isolate any host machines directly from the console. If alerts are received and isolation is necessary, it can be accomplished through the console. The console itself holds significant value, accessible through a browser and allowing remote actions via cloud login."
"The package of protection that it provides is useful. It has antivirus, malware protection, VPN, and a whole bunch of other features."
"A great console with a user-friendly GUI."
"Trellix Endpoint Security offers robust access protection, addressing major concerns in prevention. It provides both application control and user access control within its access protection features."
"The solution is broken down into different components from the portals. Web filtering, which is an added feature has been great for us."
"It is very valuable in finding out unknown malware."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is its simplicity."

Cons

"We need to have a stronger defense against CryptoLock and other attackers."
"Its detection capability for certain attacks should be improved. It should have better and wider detection for certain malware attacks. It could also have some sort of RMN."
"Webroot Business Endpoint Protection needs to focus on how they can widen their area of scope by not just being an antivirus tool anymore. The shortcoming in the customization area of the tool needs improvement."
"It would be nice if it had a feature for automatically generating reports on the client end for device status, security status and backup information."
"The console spins up relatively slowly, and some of the configuration items are obscure (e.g., reporting back one time per day is a default setting) and need to be tweaked."
"Their customer support should be better. We started having some issues with it, and we didn't get the required support."
"We need to know more details about how the virus interacted with the computer."
"The solution could improve by providing better ransomware protection."
"We'd like better UI on the management screen."
"The management console is a little bit difficult to understand for admins. You need a lot of time in order to become familiar with that. It is a little bit complicated and not too easy to understand. Its price can also be improved. Its price is higher than its competitors. McAfee also needs to have better cloud integration and more data centers in the EU. The cloud center should be in Europe or in Germany. In Germany, it is really important to have access to your data within the same country. Customer data needs to be placed and processed in the same country."
"The solution has problematic encryption, which needs reforming."
"Although they have increased the complexity, it has affected the scanning speed."
"The main area for improvement is the integration with Microsoft Windows Hello, which includes Face ID or fingerprint-based authentication. Currently, they don't support either, so users have to type in the username and password."
"The solution needs to improve its virtual patching capabilities. One area where it could improve is by offering a patch management solution bundled with its security products. This would make it even more competitive against solutions like Kaspersky that offer this feature."
"Some agents become old and then they don't communicate well any longer."
"Support-wise they need to be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"With Webroot Business Endpoint Protection, I can select a yearly billing cycle."
"Work on a price tier plan."
"If you purchase for clients, then you are the managing billing entity. It's better to either get a monthly subscription check from your clients, or to prepay for the year (so as to not keep cash in reserve to pay the bill each month) IMHO."
"I can't recall the exact pricing, but I believe there is a monthly fee of $20-30 per user."
"The pricing is high."
"The solution is pretty cheap, actually. At our level, which is at 2,500 endpoints, we're paying 87 cents an agent per month."
"I rate the product's pricing a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. There are no costs in addition to the product's standard licensing fees."
"The solution is very cost-effective."
"The price of McAfee is pretty similar to Symantec, and there are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"Licensing fees are paid yearly."
"There are some extra expenses for using the product, in addition to licensing related to the maintenance of the product."
"They should reduce the cost or make it free, open-source software."
"Compared to Bitdefender, Trellix Endpoint Security is more expensive, but considering it comes with DLP, the solution's price is fine."
"Pricing is fair."
"It is based on an annual subscription."
"Microsoft Defender is not cheap and from a cost perspective, Trellix Endpoint Security (ENS) is a better option."
