Transparent and offers real-time analysis but needs more documentation
The solution provides us with transparency to give us information about what happens in the network. With this information, the administrator can see a lot of things. They can see hacking attempts from the internet that target our servers, and, with that information, they can check the security settings in the server to see if it is strong enough or not, and make sure the servers is safe. They also can see attacks directed to the endpoint. We know which endpoint got infected so we can take action to clean it. The software also has good reporting capabilities. We can create custom reports according to our needs.

We need to improve Trellix ESM by making sure that most of the logging devices available in the global market should be covered, and if there is any device which is not covered, there should not be any additional charges for writing the custom parsers on that. We can add some new features regarding AI in the future for Trellix ESM, but the maturity will take a longer time. There are many false positives that happen in an environment during the first couple of months, or around six months, so the system analyst is not able to identify whether the event which has occurred is a true positive or a false positive.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"SmartEvent Event Management is a solid platform overall, and I would definitely recommend it."
"The capability of real-time analysis of security events is useful."
"The tool's effectiveness depends on how you define your log sources. To build visibility of incoming and outgoing traffic, you need logs from perimeter defense, firewalls, web application firewalls, and endpoint protection. With good traffic visibility, incident response time is really quick."
"It blocks the things which are not to be allowed. It has an adaptive mode where it learns for itself."
"McAfee ESM is the perfect SIEM tool, and it provides best results based on data intake and rule based configuration."
"The solution is 100% stable. We really have had a great time working with it. It hasn't let us down."
"It is easy to use and deploy. It comes with user-friendly manuals."
"The security can't be compromised, and the security features on offer are the most valuable feature and are why it's really worth having as a product like this in our organization."
"Scalability is quite easier with Trellix ESM, because all we need to do is add more receivers to it, so it can go to any point."
"The most valuable feature is for the security operation center because it provides visibility of all traffic within the company infrastructure."

Cons

"They should provide easy to access guides or manuals, maybe videos, about how to manage or use the software effectively and efficiently, to maximize its features."
"The only downside I've encountered with SmartEvent Event Management is occasional lag during video calls, especially with a lot of participants."
"We are having trouble migrating our data sources from version 10 to version 11.2. We cannot add new data sources to the most recent version."
"It cannot integrate with our Next-Generation Firewall and few applications such as Cisco ACI."
"I would like to see good analytics in future releases."
"Executives don’t see ROI on this solution as the reports are not meant for C-levels."
"McAfee will fall back a little in this scenario because the cloud integrations aren't extensively available."
"Update to user interface from version 9 is cosmetic in some aspects, and after a few clicks you are back on the old interface."
"I had a couple of problems collecting Windows events."
"The product is mature and needs little improvement, but we could enhance the customized dashboarding based on use cases."
