Centralized environment supports big data while facing integration challenges
The customization in Securonix Next-Gen SIEM is more difficult compared to other solutions. At the operation level, we are not facing many challenges with automating things using Securonix Next-Gen SIEM, but at the admin level, we have many challenges where log parsing is causing issues and compatibility is not present. The primary technology challenge we have is not at the security tools level. For example, firewall Cisco and others are capable. However, specific to product, for SAP, we are using certain products, and developing custom connectors for each product, especially the internal applications, is difficult, and Securonix Next-Gen SIEM is not up to the mark.

Transparent and offers real-time analysis but needs more documentation
The solution provides us with transparency to give us information about what happens in the network. With this information, the administrator can see a lot of things. They can see hacking attempts from the internet that target our servers, and, with that information, they can check the security settings in the server to see if it is strong enough or not, and make sure the servers is safe. They also can see attacks directed to the endpoint. We know which endpoint got infected so we can take action to clean it. The software also has good reporting capabilities. We can create custom reports according to our needs.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We can select the resource group name or functionality directly of which type of security tool logs we want. We don't need to write the query for that; we just have to select."
"With UEBA being a relatively new space when we looked at it close to two years ago, we were concerned about how well it worked and whether they were truly behavioral-based rules or if that was just marketing terminology for the "latest greatest system," but it exceeds what our initial expectations were for being able to detect different cyber threats."
"One of the valuable features of Securonix is the auto-incident creation, which was not available two or three years ago."
"The product reduced our investigation times by about 85 percent."
"The solution is stable and scalable."
"In the beginning, we were hesitant to use a new tool, but it soon became our go-to tool for checking and verifying any issues."
"In summary: First, I have been able to reduce my overhead by half, and second, my analyst is a lot more efficient and the noise in my environment is reduced by at least 70 percent."
"The most valuable feature is that it works on user behavior and event rarities."
"SmartEvent Event Management is a solid platform overall, and I would definitely recommend it."
"The capability of real-time analysis of security events is useful."

Cons

"Sometimes, the injectors lag and are not loading. It would be nice if that could be improved."
"We would like to see better integration with other products."
"The customization in Securonix Next-Gen SIEM is more difficult compared to other solutions. At the admin level, we have many challenges where log parsing is causing issues and compatibility is not present."
"We have a lot of users who, because they're engineers and they're bringing down product data - where, at times, a top-level product could be 10,000 or 15,000 objects - it's difficult for us to determine what should be a concern and what shouldn't be a concern."
"When they did upgrades or applied patches, sometimes, there was downtime, which required the backfill of data. There were times when we had to reach out and get a lot of things validated."
"Six months ago, if someone asked me about the support, I would say, "Not good.""
"The technical support is terrible and completely unhelpful."
"One of the things they can improve on a little bit is the usability side, to make some things simpler... The tool does have a lot of knobs, you can turn a lot of things on and off and you can change things. Sometimes, it can become a little overwhelming. They should remove some confirmation options and make it simpler for the less mature customers and people who are still trying to grasp it."
"They should provide easy to access guides or manuals, maybe videos, about how to manage or use the software effectively and efficiently, to maximize its features."
"The only downside I've encountered with SmartEvent Event Management is occasional lag during video calls, especially with a lot of participants."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I had heard that it was much cheaper than Splunk and some of the other tools, and they gave us a nice package with support. They accommodated the number of users and support very well."
"A good thing about Securonix is that they don't charge by volume of data or number of devices... They charge by the number of employees, which is a much more predictable number for me, versus data. Our costs are in the $100,000 range over a three-year subscription."
"We went in on a three-year agreement which has an annual licensing fee, based upon the number of people that we're monitoring. There have not been any additional costs to the standard licensing fees."
"Its price is fine. We found it to be cheaper than LogRhythm, Exabeam, Splunk, as well as Elastic Security. A few months ago, when we were comparing Securonix with Elastic Security, we found Securonix to be cheaper than Elasticsearch. We were pretty surprised that Elastic Security is more expensive than Securonix because Elasticsearch is just starting, and it cannot compete with Securonix at this time. So, the pricing of Securonix is pretty good for now."
"Compared to other brands it seems more affordable to us."
"Its pricing is quite similar to others and is very competitive. The other solutions have different types of licensing, but when you do the math, it is competitive."
"Licensing is based on events per second (EPS), costing between $50 to $60 per EPS."
"Compared to other known brands in the industry, the overall cost of the licenses is a bit higher than what customers expect."
