Provides custom versions of reports personalized for users
For AI initiatives, you need to purchase a separate AI license to integrate with SAP Business ByDesign. I'd recommend SAP Business ByDesign for large companies that want to check data graphically, especially for monthly income, expenses, and taxes in the millions or trillions. Overall, for large-scale companies, I'd rate it ten out of ten.

Scalable and flexible platform with significant challenges related to complexity, cost management, and the need for skilled personnel
There are a couple of significant challenges we're currently facing. First, our production team can't make use of the production planning features, as they require a Professional license and we only have access to the Logistics license, which is limiting our capabilities. The majority of the reports we generate are intended for managerial purposes. While most reports are straightforward to comprehend, there are a few exceptions that can be quite complex. It would be beneficial to have access to real-time data from our machines. This is crucial for monitoring all activities within our manufacturing processes, from software operations to the machinery used.

Quotes from Members

"I have found the consolidation of the business and group reports very useful. There is plenty of features and the manufacturing and finance aspect of the solution are strong."
"When we were using it, we did see an immediate benefit, especially in the inventory on consignment issue. We were a biotech pre-revenue company and most of our manufacturing was outsourced. So being able to track inventory within the system without creating a financial impact was very key for us."
"The most valuable feature is the feature called Financial Closing Cockpit. This feature allows us to monitor our accounting and processing closely."
"The most valuable features of Business ByDesign are the integration of its modules, analytics, and dashboards."
"I find the tool’s every feature valuable."
"ByDesign's best features are its speed, real-time data, and reporting."
"The most valuable feature of SAP Business ByDesign is it has a streamlined design."
"The initial setup of the product seems to be good."
"The product is very user-friendly."
"The production and planning processes of the solution are very good."
"The most valuable feature of SAP Business One is its reporting capability."
"With the tool, there is no shutdown or breakdown time my company experiences."
"The product makes it easier to overview the ERP system and manufacturing processes through different modules."
"The top-level view and easy navigation to individual transaction levels are beautifully done in SAP Business One."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."

Cons

"SAP Business ByDesign can improve the flexibility and user-friendliness of the reporting during the implementations. Customizing the reports inside the device requires a lot of knowledge and most of the time a developer level is needed. For example, if you want to have a more specific reporting layout."
"There might be some hurdles when integrating with SAP ECC, but integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud is smooth."
"SAP Business ByDesign is a very vast product, but it has to be a bit more centralized. All the models need to be more centralized for a better experience."
"The database needs to be more customizable."
"ByDesign could be improved by making screen modifications easier."
"Scalability is difficult."
"I would like the tool’s interface to be better. Currently, we use a client application to access the product. I want that to be replaced with a web version. I would like to improve the tool’s internet availability. I also want the product’s setup to be easier."
"The Arabic localization is neglected. It should have an Arabic interface. It lacks Arabic translation or support from right to left."
"The look-and-feel of the system is quite outdated as compared to a lot of other products out there."
"There are limitations of SAP Business One. It's a complex topic, and exploring options like SAP HANA is challenging at the moment. Understanding the limitations of ERP requires thorough research. I suggest conducting some preliminary investigations into ERP products before making a decision. We chose SAP Business One as it caters to SMEs like ours, acknowledging and accepting its limitations. While a larger product exists, switching would entail budget considerations due to the ongoing implementations. Therefore, the current situation with SAP Business One is not a matter of concern."
"Analytics could be much better."
"The deployment process could be improved because some projects or clients have internal addons in the database, and these components can be complex for deployment."
"The tool's cost is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"The browser access needs to improve, as everybody in the industry knows how limited it is."
"It would be better if the solution was on a cloud infrastructure."
"SAP Business One on AWS could improve by having more customization and more user-friendly automation."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool’s pricing is expensive."
"The pricing depends on company size. It's cheaper for small companies and more expensive for large ones."
"The cost starts anywhere between fifty thousand dollars and up depending on the number of licenses."
"The price of SAP Business ByDesign is less expensive than SAP S/4HANA. However, the price is on par with other similar competitors, such as Microsoft."
"Everything is included in the licensing cost of the solution. However, they use a per-user model for additional charges."
"The tool’s subscription is yearly. There is no flat pricing involved and everything has a range. Pricing depends on the functionality that you would use. You need to also pay for the additional hosting and maintenance costs."
"I rate the price of SAP Business ByDesign a seven out of ten."
"We have to pay yearly."
"The tool has better pricing models than S/4 HANA."
"We have an annual cost for licensing and storage in AWS."
"On average, the licensing costs can be around 50,000 USD. Pricing of the product has certain variables, including the number of licenses and the implementation costs."
"The price of SAP Business One on AWS could be lower, it is expensive."
"Though I cannot specifically state whether SAP Business One on AWS is a cheap or expensive product, I can surely say that it is a manageable tool from a cost perspective."
"Pricing for me, it's not very interesting. I think it's priced at a normal level."
"The product is moderately priced."
"There is an annual licensing fee, and it changes once you add or remove users. The solution is on the upper-end side and expensive."
