Has automated recurring data flows and improved accuracy in reporting
The best features of Talend Data Integration are its rich set of components that let you connect to almost any data design intuitive and its strong automation and scheduling capabilities. The TMap component is especially valuable because it allows flexible transformation, joins, and filtering in a single place. I also rely a lot on context variables to manage different environments like Dev, Test, and production, without changing the code. The error handling and logging tools are very helpful for monitoring and troubleshooting, which makes the workflow more reliable. Talend Data Integration has helped our company by automating and standardizing data processes. Before, many of these tasks were done manually, which took more time and often led to errors. With Talend Data Integration, we built automated pipelines that extract, clean, and load data consistently. This not only saves hours of manual effort, but also improves the accuracy and reliability of data. As a result, business teams had faster access to trustworthy information for reporting and decision making, which directly improved efficiency and productivity. Talend Data Integration has had a measurable impact on our organization. By automating daily data loading processes, we reduced manual effort by around three or four hours per day, which saved roughly 60 to 80 hours per month. We also improved data accuracy. Error rates dropped by more than 70% because validation rules were built into the jobs. In addition, reporting teams now receive fresh data at least 50% faster, which means they can make decisions earlier and with more confidence. Overall, Talend Data Integration has increased both efficiency and reliability in our data workflows.

A stable solution with multiple workflow capabilities, but lightweight DAM capabilities and lacking a good search and match feature
The solution does not have a good match and search capability. It only has a basic, exact match search. Any upgrades to the search and match capability, seeing non-exact or fuzzy matches for example, would be good improvements. Also, the DAM solution provided by Riversand is comparatively lightweight, so you are still dependent on a third-party DAM solution provider, like Team Seven, to make it a complete solution. Some improvement in the DAM area would be a major help. From a data quality perspective, there are not a lot of data quality rules that can be enabled. Also, there is no specific data quality engine available, unlike Informatica, where you have the option of leveraging the PIM tool for data quality capabilities. Plus, you can leverage apps out of IDQ and make them available in PIM. If these kinds of options were made available in Riversand, they would definitely be welcome features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Better control and flexibility to add/custom define features, to tailor to your needs by modifying its Java generated code."
"Qlik Talend Cloud positively impacted my organization by enabling businesses to accelerate data decisions very easily and reducing execution time."
"The solution enables robust data matching, merging, survivorship, and Data Stewardship that can be a part of data quality workflows or true master data management."
"Coming into the department with no knowledge of Talend, the interface has been user-friendly enough to allow me to come up to speed in four to five months on almost all its functions and use it like a pro."
"I like idea of storing the results of Data Quality jobs in a DB and having the ability to run reports in the DB to show a dashboard of quality metrics."
"Maybe the best thing is the product's easy start-up level when you are familiar with Java."
"We are able to get emails from URLs very easily using this function when others fail."
"The solution can run on any machine and that is a big advantage."
"Has a good user interface and the ability to update large sets of products quickly."
"It's a stable solution. I have no complaints."
"I like their matching feature, and the survivorship rules are very strong; I also like their out-of-box reports, data quality dashboards, and more, which are very handy and helpful, and the configurations we can create, validations, and enhancements are pretty straightforward and useful, making it a user-friendly tool that is very cool."
"There are a lot of workflow-related capabilities in Riversand, such as packaging-related AI-based algorithms that automatically assign specific packaging for a given product within the workflow."
"I like their matching feature, and the survivorship rules are very strong. I also like their out-of-box reports, data quality dashboards, and more. Those are also very handy and helpful. Internally, I like the kind of configurations that we can create, validations, and enhancements. Those configurations are pretty straightforward and useful. It's a user-friendly tool that is very cool."
"This solution provides a good user interface and the ability to update large sets of products quickly, along with providing good off-the-shelf functionality."

Cons

"In redundancy analysis, the query is failing to bring non-matched records. This query is an internal script. There is no way (that I know of) to fix this syntax error for future runs."
"The usage of memory. This tool uses a huge amount of memory."
"Needs integrated data governance in terms of dictionaries, glossaries, data lineage, and impact analysis. It also needs operationalization of meta-data."
"The sales and market department could improve the Talend Data Management Platform."
"First, We faced problems with stability of the products."
"I've had some issues with bugs causing crashes, especially when making changes to the system or with the monthly upgrades to Studio they've introduced."
"Including either XML or JSON in the next release would definitely be a good transformation. I'm not sure if Talend has that feature, but it's one of those requirements that we are working around and have to do some parsing of XML so this could make it easier."
"When we upgraded to Version 6.4.1, we tried using a GIT repository instead of a SVN repository. After a few incidents where things disappeared and changes were not saved, we decided to go back to a SVN repository."
"The ability to create bespoke workflows could be improved."
"The ability to create bespoke workflows could be improved."
"The solution does not have a good match and search capability."
"The technical support for partners is not so good. It takes a long time to get a response."
"Integration could be better. Riversand is majorly focusing on only the MDM hub part. They don't have their own integration platform. We have to rely on a third-party integration partner. They say this is the format, and it's the client's responsibility to bring the data into their required format. They have to have an integration partner and develop their integration capabilities. It's not so flexible to read any data format or system, for example, SAP. They don't have a connector."
"Integration could be better. Riversand is majorly focusing on only the MDM hub part."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would advise to first take a look and at the Open Studio edition. Figure out what you need and purchase the appropriate license."
"The price is on a per-user basis. It's a little more expensive than other tools. There aren't any additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"License renewal is on a yearly basis."
"I have been using the open-source version."
"The pricing is a little higher than what I had expected, but it's comparable with I-PASS competitors."
"The licensing cost is about 40,000 Euros a year."
"The tool is cheap."
"We did not purchase a separate license for DQ. It is part of our data platform suite, and I believe it is well-priced."
"Riversand MDMCenter isn't expensive. I believe their price is in the mid-range."
