The operational system is the best and is packed with free features like CapsLive
It is important to work with a vendor who will sell you the correct product for your environment rather than just try to make the most money off of you. Study the solution and learn how to install it correctly and use it in the best ways. Follow best practices from Oracle and get some training in the operational system. The solution comes with a lot of features and options that you can use for free. It is reliable and you can even use an old version with no issues. It is not the most user friendly, but you can learn it with a bit of study. Overall, the solution beats other operational systems by a large margin. The solution is rated a nine out of ten.

Has enabled a user-friendly and lightweight installation with improved performance
I installed Oracle Solaris on a normal PC to test its functionality. It is comfortable to use and provides a good test environment, especially because it is not commonly known or recognized in the market Oracle Solaris has a graphical interface that is user-friendly, especially with its use of…

Has good kernel modules and upgrades
I like how the tool handles kernel modules and upgrades - we rarely have issues after upgrades, unlike with other Linux distributions like Oracle Linux or Ubuntu. The kernel module management is excellent. Changes made in one version typically work the same in other versions too, which isn't always the case with other distributions. There's also lots of information and community support available if you run into any problems, both on the official website and in forums and user groups. I know many people who use it specifically, so it's easy to get independent support if needed. I've been working with the tool for a long time, since 2003, before they became SUSE Linux Enterprise. It's always been one of the most admin-friendly Linux versions.

Pros

"It's very useful for hosting other Oracle products."
"Oracle Linux is very secure making it one of the most valuable features. Additionally, it is easy to manage."
"Overall Oracle Linux is very good."
"It helps us to create users and groups. We can also plan on the access that will be given to them. I use it for identity management during the installment and configuration process. We use it to start or stop processes and services. Another use case of the solution is post-opening."
"It is a scalable solution."
"The solution's technical support team answers all our queries."
"It's mostly reliable."
"Oracle Linux is very compatible with other platforms."
"Oracle Solaris was the preferred operating system for their customers to run their databases on and to get the best performance. It performs well with Oracle applications. Additionally, there are some features inside that are called zones which are Linux containers."
"The backup capabilities are quite good."
"One of the main features of this solution is the ease of use."
"The product's most valuable feature is partitioning resources and optimizing hardware utilization effectively."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle Solaris is the incremental backup that happens in the system."
"It stands out for its exceptional stability."
"Solaris Zones and Containers are my favorite features."
"This product is stable, has good documentation, lots of solutions, a big community, and good support."
"Linux is easy to use. You have more control on a Unix system."
"Some of the functionalities I like the most are the security features. This includes security restrictions on specific folders and secure communication for SFTP. These features are more secure and reliable. The tool also makes compliance possible."
"The solution offers a secure operation system."
"It's easy to set up."
"The most valuable feature is that there is an inbuilt HANA firewall."
"Out-of-the-box SLES supported all of our HBAs and hardware specific components."
"The stability of the solution is good. We have not had any issue with performance."
"The technical support services are good."

Cons

"I would want Oracle to explore more of Kubernetes and micro services."
"They should increase security."
"Occasionally, we might get an alert to restart our database, and if we don't do it on our own, the system will do it automatically. That can cause downtime issues if your clients aren't expecting it."
"The graphic interface could be improved to work better in a desktop environment."
"The technical support for Oracle Linux is just okay. It is not as helpful or friendly as their application support."
"The security and integration could improve."
"The tool’s user interface needs to improve."
"The solution could improve by giving the client or customer more control."
"Currently, there are two variants, there's SPARC and there's x86. I would have wanted a scenario where they're all just one product."
"I don't want to receive any updates on Oracle"
"This product is not as flexible as other similar solutions on the market today."
"The solution is pricey and can be improved by lowering the cost."
"The tool is quite complex and difficult for anyone trying to use or study it."
"Solaris' package management could be improved, especially in comparison to Linux."
"When we switch over to Solaris it was not easy because we had some troubles with the performance. Solaris is from Oracle and you would expect that it would run flawlessly, but we had some issues in sizing the previous Linux environment to the Solaris environment."
"They could also enable Oracle OEM for x86 architecture as well."
"We previously had trouble integrating Autodesk with the SUSE Manager, but the issue was resolved."
"The software management side was a bit difficult, especially compared to Ubuntu."
"SUSE could make more APIs available."
"The price of SUSE Linux Enterprise could improve, it is too expensive."
"Additionally, error handling needs improvement. The system should be more transparent when there's an error, rather than just declaring a generic error. It would be helpful if it could provide more specific information about the problem on that particular system. As it stands, you can waste a lot of time trying to troubleshoot these vague errors."
"I would like to see better functionality for interacting with cloud-based systems."
"The initial setup could be simplified."
"I have not seen an ROI with this solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We pay an annual subscription."
"There is a license required for this solution and we are on an annual license."
"The pricing and licensing are good."
"This is an open-source product that can be used free of charge."
"Its licensing is on a yearly basis."
"The solution is free to use."
"It is an expensive product. I rate the pricing a ten out of ten."
"There are no licensing fees but you can opt to pay for support."
"As a private user or individual, I wouldn't recommend it to others, considering it is a costly product."
"It is more expensive, but very complete and worth enacting."
"The price of Oracle Solaris could be less expensive."
"The current setup with hardware devices involves a higher cost, but the performance is top-notch."
"As far as licensing goes, there is nothing unusual here. The price and model have worked fine for my organization."
"The price is reasonable."
"The tool is expensive compared to Red Hat. I rate its pricing a nine out of ten."
"I have to pay for a license in order to get support."
"The platform is affordable."
"SUSE Linux Enterprise is reasonably priced compared to other operating systems. I find it's a much better option for us than Oracle, for example, because of the pricing structure. The pricing is easier to explain to clients and makes it easier to get clients' commitment. The licensing is also simpler to manage and keep track of. Their responsiveness is great - they give feedback very quickly when we ask questions about licensing or other aspects. This helps ensure we're always at the gold standard regarding licensing and everything related to SUSE Linux Enterprise."
"I would advise others to download the free or strictly open source versions, then test them in their environment before committing to a purchase. This will allow for testing suitability for applications that they want to run."
"When we first implemented this product, we had licenses for support."
