We performed a comparison between Oracle Data Integrator Cloud Service and Pentaho Data Integration and Analytics based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Cloud Data Integration solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It's on the cloud, so it's scalable and quite easy to work with."
"Oracle integration cloud has got the adapters for all their products, which makes integration faster."
"The data is stored in the cloud, making it easy to download data simultaneously into multiple smaller servers, effectively downsizing the process."
"The solution is easy to manage and offers good integration. You can run all the tasks one by one which is really helpful, and pick the day and time to do so."
"Having a single vendor supporting the entire suite of applications."
"The most valuable thing to me is its simplicity. A person with zero knowledge can also develop the integration without having extensive technology knowledgebase. They can also work on creating their own integration."
"Oracle Data Integrator helps us build tables and data marts and allows us to schedule them daily, for nearly real-time data warehousing."
"One of the valuable features is the ability to use PL/SQL statements inside the data transformations and jobs."
"It's very simple compared to other products out there."
"One of the most valuable features is the ability to create many API integrations. I'm always working with advertising agents and using Facebook and Instagram to do campaigns. We use Pentaho to get the results from these campaigns and to create dashboards to analyze the results."
"Its drag-and-drop interface lets me and my team implement all the solutions that we need in our company very quickly. It's a very good tool for that."
"It's my understanding that the product can scale."
"The area where Lumada has helped us is in the commercial area. There are many extractions to compose reports about our sales team performance and production steps. Since we are using Lumada to gather data from each industry in each country. We can get data from Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia at the same time. We can then concentrate and consolidate it in only one place, like our data warehouse. This improves our production performance and need for information about the industry, production data, and commercial data."
"We can schedule job execution in the BA Server, which is the front-end product we're using right now. That scheduling interface is nice."
"The fact that it's a low-code solution is valuable. It's good for more junior people who may not be as experienced with programming."
"It's lacking a lot of mapping features that Oracle OSB and SOA have. It needs to evolve a lot."
"Bulk uploading can be a problem when you hit the upper limit."
"I would like to see different cloud adapters or connectors in case of integration. When you have Oracle to Oracle, they are good. They have really good connectors, but if it is a different ERP, like Obsidian, that is where they are faced with problems in OIC."
"It can be made much easier for users. They should be allowed to easily monitor the data extraction and flow, allowing them to observe real-time data flow within the software, making the process straightforward."
"I've found technical support not very effective. They should work to improve their services."
"This is an expensive solution compared to other products on the market."
"The pricing could be more competitive."
"There is not a data quality or MDM solution in the Pentaho DI suite."
"I work with the Community Edition, therefore I do not have support. There was an issue that I could not resolve with community support."
"Its basic functionality doesn't need a whole lot of change. There could be some improvement in the consistency of the behavior of different transformation steps. The software did start as open-source and a lot of the fundamental, everyday transformation steps that you use when building ETL jobs were developed by different people. It is not a seamless paradigm. A table input step has a different way of thinking than a data merge step."
"I would like to see support for some additional cloud sources. It doesn't support Azure, for example. I was trying to do a PoC with Azure the other day but it seems they don't support it."
"One thing that I don't like, just a little, is the backward compatibility."
"I would like to see improvements made for real-time data processing."
"Although it is a low-code solution with a graphical interface, often the error messages that you get are of the type that a developer would be happy with. You get a big stack of red text and Java errors displayed on the screen, and less technical people can get intimidated by that. It can be a bit intimidating to get a wall of red error messages displayed. Other graphical tools that are focused at the power user level provide a much more user-friendly experience in dealing with your exceptions and guiding the user into where they've made the mistake."
"As far as I remember, not all connectors worked very well. They can add more connectors and more drivers to the process to integrate with more flows."
