The solution is useful for monitoring network devices, but the interface is old-fashioned
The solution is useful for monitoring network devices We use it for up-and-down monitoring features. It’s an old solution. It has an old-fashioned interface. The product must provide a compliance testing feature. I have been using the solution for six years. I rate the tool’s stability a ten…

Monitoring has improved bandwidth insights and application diagnosis but setup and costs still need work
They need room for improvement about the spare parts. There are shortages in Egypt in their stock. We tried to make RMA for specific parts, and it took a long time. Comparing this to a vendor like Cisco, who provides any component next business day, NETSCOUT nGeniusONE took a long time. This needs more improvement. I believe it is expensive. They need to reduce its budget a little bit. Comparing to other solutions, it is very expensive.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Our customers like this product due to the fact that it's quite simple and it can be integrated with other solutions that complement and complete each other."
"This is a product that I can recommend."
"Since we have been using it for the last five years we have done very well with reference to ROI."
"The tool's UI is user-friendly, and pricing is affordable. It is very easy to deploy and learn."
"The solution is useful for monitoring network devices."
"Its initial setup process is straightforward."
"It is highly customizable and can be integrated well with third-party software."
"The initial setup is easy."
"An issue that used to take days is now fixed within minutes to an hour."
"Deep packet inspection is probably the strongest feature."
"The speed that you can get from the top of a problem all the way down to the packet layer of troubleshooting analysis."
"vSTREAM gives us better visibility and reporting about our network infrastructure, allowing for cost-optimization."
"The best feature is when we have it connected permanently via TAPs. That enables us to constantly collect data and then we can go back in time... To be able to rewind, back in time, and see the problem as it happened, is very helpful."
"It helps us to assist our customers to isolate problems. If it is us who is having the problem, then we can use it to streamline the process."
"The solution gives us increased visibility while conducting an IT deployment, recording data all the time so we have the before picture and the after picture, and in areas where we have instrumentation, we have seen a measurable decrease in mean time to know and mean time to repair."
"A great feature is the memory utilization graph."

Cons

"It's very hard to install materials. You need a lot of documentation. They should make it easier to install and configure the solution."
"The bandwidth for its front-end version needs enhancement."
"There is room for improvement on the setup side."
"I think the reports can be improved. They're adopted."
"The graphics and reports can be a little bit better."
"They need to have some automation models embedded in them."
"There are some loopholes you need to be aware of from a security perspective."
"It has an old-fashioned interface."
"The price is really high, making it difficult for many financial companies to purchase immediately; it will take time for them to afford any budget for the purchase."
"The scalability has some limitations and quirks to it. I would like to be able to upgrade rather than replace the whole thing."
"We would like better end-to-end data flows. This is something that my users always complain about, as they don't know what the data flows are on the network. We would like to know every point along the line."
"NETSCOUT nGeniusONE is a complex product since it deals in areas like network packet brokers and packet analysis, making the tool complicated for end users."
"I would like to see improvement in the user experience. It's hard to manage it. We need a dedicated, highly-qualified person, compared to similar tools. Obviously, it's in a higher bracket, salary-wise. That's something the NETSCOUT team needs to focus on. It's a completely niche-skill technology, where we need to have the skills to manage, maintain, and deploy it."
"The monitoring and reporting tool needs improvement. Users want more information, such as the level of detail when doing a packet analysis. They want more detail to be able to isolate down to a specific point."
"The initial setup was complex. It was hard to know what to tap and how to tap."
"The GUI has gotten better over time but there could be some improvement in how the GUI is built."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is cost-efficient."
"They charge around ten thousand per month for one thousand nodes. That is their overall cost, but it differs on which company you are applying to, whether you are a service provider or an enterprise."
"I rate Nagios Network Analyzer's pricing a six out of ten."
"If you are able and you are willing to use everything that Netscout provides to you, it's probably a relatively fair price. The problem is that it's such a large and such a complex tool that I'm not sure that many companies would be able to use it entirely, the way it's expected to be used."
"I don't know what the cost to buy the solution was, but I doubt if it's a significant part of the budget as far as the maintenance and support are concerned."
"This solution has saved us more than $50,000 a month and freed up 30 percent of our bandwidth."
"Like any company, we always want better pricing. The pricing is okay, but it's not a cheap solution. When you want to deploy it across an enterprise as large as ours, you go into seven figures. It's not a cheap solution to get out there."
"The tool's price is okay. On a scale of one to ten, I rate it as a five, where one means it is not expensive, and ten means it is the most expensive."
"Licensing is flexible, it's not tied to anything else. We can easily switch up the licensing piece... Obviously, NETSCOUT is a little bit in the higher range, but it gives you value for money. You get what you pay for."
"Licensing is quite expensive."
"It can be expensive, but if you have a good configuration, based on what you are looking for, it's okay, it's manageable."
