A scalable and affordable tool for monitoring data centers
Five engineers are needed for the maintenance of the product. I would definitely recommend the solution to those planning to use it. To increase the rating for the product, Nagios should offer remote support and offer more customization in reporting while making it easy for the customers to use it. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
WilsonAitan - PeerSpot reviewer
Offers a single dashboard with customizable features and a cost-effective pricing structure
Sumo Logic Security offers a single dashboard and customization, which are the most valuable features. Additionally, it has a cost-effective structure because it is based on data storage and the number of scans, rather than uploading data. This cost model impacts the customers positively by offering a more straightforward pricing structure.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"A great feature of the solution involves its internal portal."
"The product is scalable."
"One of the most valuable features is the dashboard because the UI was effective and easy to use. The alert systems are good as well. We had no failovers and had high availability. We can search the queries fast as well in Nagios Log Server."
"The initial setup of Nagios Log Server was easy and straightforward."
"Sumo Logic Security is a good solution for searching the logs and identifying the issues."
"We can ingest logs and make reports out of them. It is a good tool which can help us monitor any issues."
"Support has been excellent. Sumo Logic's support staff is really good, both their account management staff and direct support."
"Scalability has been good for our needs. We haven't run into any scaling issues in regards to size so far."
"Sumo Logic is an easy solution to use. You can set it up very quickly, and it includes a lot of training videos."
"We have used it many times to find a root cause of a live issue, then fix the problem in the applications."
"It provides easy visibility. I also like the shareable queries because we share a lot across groups."
"We are able to diagnose problems before our customers."

Cons

"The customization and dashboards have shortcomings and need to be improved to make the tool look more presentable."
"As we are talking about a product which is open to the public, the pricing makes it challenging for us to profit off of its marketing."
"The support could be better."
"The configurations during initial setup could be improved. If they could be agentless, as in the case of the Ansible product, it would be better. I would like to be able to analyze the network bandwidth."
"It would be nice to have an improved ability to scroll through logs within a time frame. Right now, we can search for specific errors. However, if we want to look for "before and after" within a specific time frame, it's not easy using the tool. This would be an improvement."
"The solution should improve its UI."
"In my opinion, this solution has a steep learning curve and requires practice if users to be able to use this tool very efficiently."
"In terms of improvement, feedback indicates there is a need for a local data center in my country. This is crucial to sell to the government and financial sectors as they require data retention within each country."
"The initial setup is the most stressful, like learning how to use it."
"There are some API gaps that are missing."
"The API integration in Sumo Logic Security could improve. There are delayed connections or they stop and then automatically start. Having a seamless log collection would be beneficial."
"Sumo Logic needs to make sure integrating solutions are seamless."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We found the pricing to be quite affordable."
"For a single instance, the price is around $4,000."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap, I rate the pricing an eight or nine."
"The pricing is a little high, but for the features that we receive from Sumo Logic, it suits the price. For some small organizations, the price might be a little high."
"The license pricing model is based on the events that are processed through the solution."
"We chose to go through the AWS Marketplace because it makes it a lot easier when we bill our customers. Rather than having to get multiple different sources of information then correlate a monthly bill for our customers, it is just included in the AWS usage charges."
"The AWS Marketplace pricing is fairly reasonable for what it does. I wouldn't call it expensive, but I wouldn't call it cheap. It is pretty good."
"The pricing is good. It's not an issue for us."
"Storing logs in Sumo Logic Security is charged GB-wise, which is a little higher than other products."
"The AWS Marketplace pricing is borderline. Every annual renewal, we always contemplate if we are getting what we think we could out of it or could we do it cheaper with some other product."
"I don't pay the bill. I've heard the AWS Marketplace pricing is high, but I like the value."
