We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We use the solution to develop SaaS platforms on Azure. We utilize various Microsoft components like block storage and databases for this purpose.""Data is securely stored.""The data lake is invaluable. We also use Microsoft SQL in terms of structuring the data and getting into a position where it could be useful to support reporting. We Databricks for data science. We incorporated Databricks with that as well.""This is a very robust and flexible solution.""It can scale.""The stability seems to be very reliable.""The solution is easy to purchase and is a Microsoft product, making procurement straightforward.""Azure Block Storage has very good integration with the Microsoft suite, which helps a lot when creating a digital workspace."

"You can peer into different levels of the archive.""The features of Microsoft Azure Object Storage that are most valuable are the ones providing encryption. Access is more controlled using private endpoints and SaaS token keys. Many access control features exist.""Microsoft Azure Object Storage is an easy-to-use and stable solution.""Technical support has been excellent.""We can easily create a storage layer in any system.""Versioning is a valuable feature.""The best thing is it's on the cloud. It's easily accessible to everyone through a mobile device, tablet, or laptop. Secondly, it's secure. Like any URL shared will not work after a few hours. Only the person concerned who has that URL can use it within a few hours to download the document. After that, it expires. Thirdly, we all keep an archive. For example, if there are old documents, they are still stored over there. Another nice Azure feature is that they have the regional set up for that storage, and there's no downtime, and I'm grateful for that. We don't have to worry, because it's secure. If something goes down, they have other copies of it on a separate server, and it's accessible.""Microsoft Azure Object Storage is flexible and has all the features we need."

Cons
"The folder search capabilities are not really up to par.""The performance could be improved, but all the services in the cloud are improved every week.""The performance of Microsoft Azure Block Storage needs improvement because it's laggy. Microsoft Azure Block Storage also has a lot of limitations on file sizes. The rendering and loading times also need improvement.""One of the biggest challenges on Azure infrastructure is that sometimes we don't get what we want. Either we have to wait for it or contact support because something is not working for us... It's the system availability that is the difficult point.""We need to do versioning each and every time, that is, check-in and check-out. If a person forgets to do that, then there could be an issue in the replacement of that particular object in the storage. It will be great if it can be automatically managed.""The scalability of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required.""Microsoft Azure Block Storage could improve the SFTP. The SFTP can be used for exchanging data between two parties and it works but Microsoft is new to this market and they could be a lot better in this area with its features.""There are capacity limitations that could be expanded."

"One of the things that are currently important is consistency. To achieve this, another database called Cosmos DB is available. We want to have a similar consistency to the one in Cosmos DB but at a cheaper price.""Technical support should be a little bit faster.""The solution can be quite slow.""Microsoft Azure Object Storage is a pretty expensive solution.""Its user interface could be better.""The tool should be a little bit cheaper.""If we look at the different versions of that ADLS, it really does not have a hierarchical storage mechanism.""Technical support should be faster at resolving issues for tickets that we create."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solution is affordable, and we only pay for what we use."
  • "For the first 50DB, they cost around $50. It's an open solution for everybody. Anybody can go to the Microsoft website and they can get the pricing for it. But the first 50GB of data is a default rate and then it increases for the next 500GB or something like that. It is a pay as you go solution. The more you use, the more you pay. That's normally how you pay for any cloud solutions."
  • "In terms of pricing, Azure is quite cheaper than AWS. However, I have recently read that Oracle Cloud Generation 2 storage is quite cheaper than Azure. I haven't used it yet. We need to look at a customer's requirements, and, based on that, we can suggest the storage. You can save at least 20% with Azure as compared to AWS, which is quite costly."
  • "Azure Block Storage is higher priced than its competitors."
  • "We pay around $300 to $400 a month for some scenarios where consumption is limited. However, going forward, we're seeing the likelihood of the cost coming to around $2,000 as consumption rises."
  • "The price of Microsoft Azure Block Storage could be less expensive."
  • "The cost is very low. The cost is something like $0.01 to $0.50 per gig. It's pay per use. We have a yearly license."
  • "The price of Microsoft Azure Block Storage is less expensive than other solutions on the market, such as Cloud Storage from GCP."

  • "The cost is based on the amount of traffic and we paid approximately 18 lakh Rupees ($25,000 USD) last year."
  • "For the cloud, you get charges every day if you are going to download anything, besides the cost for storage those charges are always there."
  • "The cost of this solution is high compared to others, although there are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
  • "The cost should be reduced to make it more competitive."
  • "Pricing is always confusing for all Microsoft products. For this solution, they do provide the estimates, but it is not easy to guess the exact amount that we will be billed."
  • "We have a separate package and pay extra for additional technical support."
  • "The licensing cost of Microsoft Azure Object Storage is monthly. We have two types of licenses. One is the EA enterprise license and the other is a CSP license."
  • "It has a pay-as-you-go model. So, you are only paying for what you store. It's an attractive model. You don't pay for a set; you pay for what you actually use."
