The database setup is a pain initially, but once it's done everything works fine.

Interactive dashboards have transformed reporting and now speed up team decision making
One area where Plotly Dash Enterprise can be improved is the learning curve for beginners. It can take time to understand the callbacks and app structures. Debugging can sometimes be tricky, especially for complex apps. Improving documentation and providing more built-in templates or examples would make it easier for new users to get started. Another improvement could be around performance optimization in Plotly. For example, with a large dataset, a dashboard can sometimes become slow. Better built-in support for handling big data efficiently would help. Additionally, smoother integration with other data tools and cloud services would make it easier to fit into different tech stacks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Well certainly this product has helped many finance users in the organization as this product enables them to see the numbers for any cost center and business unit and also get a consolidated view of group level numbers."
"Khalix is a simple tool that builds on existing data sources to develop solutions in forecasting, planning and consolidation needs."
"This product offers a wide range of corporate performance management tools for powerful financial consolidation, planning and reporting."
"This tool is mainly used for forecasting, and it will, for sure, help all the organizations that need data/reports on expenses and headcount forecasting."
"Being in a market research company, our team uses it to turn raw survey or business data into live visual dashboards that help clients and our teams to monitor insights in real time, leading to better decision-making."
"The best features Plotly Dash Enterprise offers are the fact that it is built on Python and the fact that we can customize many things."
"The level of interactivity that the product provides is valuable to me."
"The impact of Plotly Dash Enterprise on my organization has been very great."
"It is a scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine to ten out of ten."
"Plotly Dash Enterprise has made the creation of financial models and dashboards very handy and very easy for my organization, as I used to work on Power BI and Tableau, which used to take some time."
"I literally save about one month of development time using Plotly Dash Enterprise and around thirty percent of costs compared to other three-tier architectures."
"Development and deployment time typically shows a 50 to 80% faster time to production, and there is also a 60 to 90% reduction in repetitive reporting work because organizations have self-serve dashboards and scheduled reports where one internal app often replaces hours of weekly manual work."

Cons

"If you compare it with Oracle then Longview isn't that user friendly."
"The initial set up was complex and painful, both with respect to database setup and the execution script."
"Web based reporting can have better user interface and functions."
"The original cost is set to use enterprise wide but the users growth is too slow to justify the cost. That's one of the reasons we stopped using this tool."
"I have been considering improvements for Plotly Dash Enterprise, particularly regarding the native integration for heavy engineering file formats."
"Lastly, production pricing flexibility is essential, as current pricing models seem more geared towards large organizations, which may limit accessibility for smaller teams and startups."
"The tool needs to improve its pie charts. Regarding Plotly, I find the online documentation somewhat challenging to navigate, especially when dealing with many parameters. Searching through thousands of parameters can be a tedious and less straightforward process. While the documentation is available online and serves its purpose, I often encounter difficulties in finding the information."
"The problem with Plotly Dash Enterprise is that it often suffers from callback hell because an output can only be targeted by a single callback in standard architecture, causing developers to write massive code to manage complex page states."
"One area for improvement would be to teach how Plotly should be used and what it can do, perhaps by providing content to understand Plotly."
"To improve Plotly Dash Enterprise, I suggest that cross-filtering capabilities need significant improvement along with file uploads and downloading data as a CSV or in any other requested format, as we seek more features aligned with user requests."
"I faced problems where legends and axis labels tend to overlap often, especially with large datasets or longer label names, which looks very messy."
"The solution cannot be deployed on the website and shared with others through its own platform."
