Easy to administer and use, integrates well, and helps with compliance management
Their reporting side of things could be better. The reporting dashboard or user interface reporting dashboard is not as intuitive as it potentially could be, but the problem with that is that every organization is going to want something slightly different. So, it's hard, but it is an area where it could improve. To do that, they would need to make some humongous improvements around being able to build your own dashboard within the system, which is pretty huge. One feature that a few of my clients have been requesting is CPD. We should be able to capture CPD points for users within the system to be able to report on those.

Offers customized features that allow us to see whether students visited the platform and watched the provided videos
An improvement would be to have it support physically challenged students, who we think should be able to participate in some of our courses. If the learning management system could support blind students or students with learning disabilities, it would expand the reach of education by providing tools that support challenged learners. In future releases, I'd like to see more features that support challenged students, as I just mentioned above. This is because of the university's goal to make education accessible to all groups without discrimination. If we can have more tools that support students who are challenged, that would be very good. If AI could help, that would be nice. We want to support learners who are remote and provide learning to disadvantaged learners or certain groups of people. AI would come in very handy if Moodle had such capabilities.

Content facilitates understanding of complex roles and tasks in an organization
The comprehensiveness of Skillsoft's content library in supporting various learning objectives is self-explanatory, requiring minimal effort to understand. Skillsoft has supported a culture of continuous learning within my organization by helping me continuously learn new skills. While I can only speak for myself regarding other colleagues' experiences, I would need to inquire about their usage. The main benefits I have seen from using Skillsoft are that it helped me understand the workflow and its application within the company. What I learned enabled me to ask clearer questions to my Product Owner. I was able to understand when tickets needed refinement and identify missing information needed to solve tickets. This helped me act in a Product Owner capacity and assisted me in achieving my work in a meaningful way daily.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This complete product is highly scalable. Licensing is not based on number of total users on the system but rather only on active users. Litmos only charge for the number of users engaged in training. This is what makes this solution ideal for scale."
"Content Author removes the need for a third-party solution for content creation."
"From a learning management system admin perspective, it has a user-friendly interface, but the functionality is deep. So, you can automate people in and out of courses. It lowers the general admin of an LMS admin so that I can focus more on value-adding things for the organization I'm working with."
"Its user interface is quite good. The platform is quite user-friendly. The UI/UX of the platform is very advanced, which helps in getting the users interested in the training."
"This is a very scalable solution. We had over 10,000 students in our instance and their billing model makes scaling affordable to do."
"There is a couple of good features available, you can customize the dashboard, CSA, and home page. You can customize the solution to your business standards. SAP Litmos offers a library of 2,500 plus courses to premium members. They have a good library of pre-built courses. It's a variety of soft skill courses including management, and marketing. You can offer these courses to your students, which is excellent."
"It incorporates the majority of the elements."
"Its pricing is good, and its performance is good when it works."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"A really nice thing about Moodle is that it is very robust and flexible, and one of the big advantages of Moodle is that it is open source. It also has a lot of free documentation."
"The ability to insert a variety of tools, create and organize course content, and share large volumes of materials, written, audio, or visual, is very valuable."
"It is relatively easy to use to build processes for establishing and conducting work within the templates that are used. It is not that hard to follow along or use, and it is pretty simple to pick it up and run with it."
"One of my biggest pet peeves is that many LMSs do not offer a course or site-level backup that is an industry-standard file. So, if you decide you don't like Moodle or some other LMS, you should be able to back up all your data and take it and go somewhere else. Moodle does offer that. There are several others that do that as well, but there are some LMSs that don't, which isn't a very good business practice because they hold their clients hostage. That's one of the things I really like about Moodle."
"The best thing about Moodle is that it is open source and has many useful plugins. It is a great solution for an organization that needs modifications and customization."
"They have made it really easy for you to see the flow on the forums. The information is well organized and the UI is fairly easy to navigate."
"The most valuable feature is the community. Moodle is a completely open source application and provides a lot of development knowledge. The other features we find valuable are the LTI tools, integrations and BigBlueButton."
"When I was introduced to Skillsoft, I gained many skills and obtained my Microsoft Azure certification, which helped me secure a position as a Cloud Engineer at Sutherland."
"The platform is user-friendly and very easy to use; we don't need any training or coaching to use the platform, and by nature, it's easy to navigate through it."
"The amount of courses on offer is great."
"What I find best about Skillsoft is that it's easy to navigate and find program details."

Cons

"The reporting could be improved. When we first subscribed to Litmos, it had a great reporting engine, but SAP altered it. Some of the changes have reduced the ability to extract reports from it. It's excellent for live data, but it can be tricky when I want to get a report."
"One feature that a few of my clients have been requesting is CPD. We should be able to capture CPD points for users within the system to be able to report on those."
"Lacks a variety of language options."
"The auto-assign feature that auto assigns courses to learners and puts them into a different learning path has had a bug for the last year and a half. My team has spent numerous hours trying to troubleshoot and fix that, but it's still broken. Until they fix that, it's going to be a higher admin burden for people to manage."
"The reporting in Litmos could be improved. It is difficult to pull accurate reporting based on how the solution is set up and parameters are selected."
"The solution lags in defined security parameters with only three predefined roles available."
"The reporting function of SAP Litmos needs major improvements. The reports are not at par with other solutions on the market. It's not user-friendly or effective reporting which we can retrieve from other places."
"The rules are not very flexible in terms of administration. They have a predefined system with three standard rules that cannot be customized, modified, added, or removed."
"The solution should continue to allow and foster the ability to integrate with cloud services."
"We have needed to complete many customizations for Moodle to use it in all of our relevant organizations. We have found many issues with the competencies as we cannot assign many sub competencies to competencies."
"One aspect that I found a bit confusing was the dual editing system, where you could edit the layout of the course separately from editing the content."
"The solution could be improved if support was an integral part of the whole solution. There are a few challenges in terms of performance due to Moodle being a free-to-use platform but these can be overcome with the use of their support team."
"The solution architecture could be improved."
"Its interface design could be more user-friendly."
"Moodle's weakest point is the user interface."
"The multi-tenancy system within Moodle could be improved. IOMAD is what makes the multi-tenancy possible but this comes with many issues."
"Sometimes the system logs out in the middle of classes without any reason and asks me to log in again."
"The quality of the courses could be better."
"The only issues I truly have with it are signing issues. This is primarily because it has split sign-in credentials."
"LinkedIn seems to have more content in general. It's easier to share the certifications on LinkedIn, which is one of my platforms of work."
"Skillsoft is already good, but I would appreciate more visual content."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is priced per user which can get expensive."
"I do not have any idea about the licensing, but I know that it is quite expensive."
"I don't know what the pricing model is at this point in time. I'm a consultant. The organizations that have purchased Litmos engage me to help them implement it, or Litmos engage me to be their external learning management system administrator. So, I don't see the rates, but based on the general comments that I've heard, it seems cost-effective and competitive with its competitors."
"It is priced per user license."
"If I have a domain and I want to link my custom domain to SAP Litmos, and if I want to remove the branding of the SAP Litmos, then they charge a large amount for it. It's not included in your subscription plan which we have purchased from them. In the last two to three years, we have never bought the custom domain. We have never linked our custom domain to SAP Litmos. The barrier for us is the high pricing. It is not a reasonable price."
"When we first purchased our subscription, we underestimated how many people we would have within a billing period. We had to adjust that in the first six months. I can't remember the exact numbers, but they charge a per user rate for a certain number, and you get a discount as the number of users goes up. It scales, which is a fairly reasonable way to build a pricing model."
"This solution comes at a high price point. We also paid $4500 for a migration specialist from Litmos to assist in moving our content over. You are billed every month based on the number of users who have logged in and completed training."
"There are three different pricing models. One is only to use the platform and to add your own learning material. The second plan includes the learning management system plus 2000 plus pre built courses on different areas including leadership, software skills, HR and IT related training. The third package allows you to integrate the system with tools such Salesforce or other CRMs."
"It is a one-time registration with the Moodle site. There isn't a yearly or monthly fee."
"Moodle have a very robust licensing system that is user friendly. It's not very expensive."
"In terms of cost, it is available at no charge."
"Moodle is an open-source solution that is free of cost."
"Moodle is a free online learning platform, but it also offers a paid version of it."
"This particular organization is a relatively small academic institution. It is a single campus, not very big, with 4,500 to 5,000 total students. It is not a big faculty. There are no hard sciences other than undergraduate-level hard sciences. So, Moodle is functional, and it is relatively simple because it is open-source software. It has sub advantages, and it is inexpensive. Small schools with small enrollment numbers just can't afford the more expensive ones."
"It is open source, and it has a lot of free documentation. It can be by far the least expensive option, but it depends on how one decides to use it. It can be free if you download it and host it on-prem, and you don't count your time as being worth anything. So, it can be almost free, or it can be very expensive just depending on if you get a package with a provider and if it is a huge solution."
"It varies depending on the partner you're going with. It depends on whether they are a certified partner or not. It also varies depending on the demand. Usually, with Moodle and other LMSs, there is concurrent licensing. It's hard to figure out the best way to do it at the company that is selling the LMS. Moodle is usually one of the most cost-effective LMSs you can get."
